Chapter 318 Target: SILK
Spider-Gwen was forced to take leave from S.H.I.E.L.D., the world's most powerful security force. She was taken to an aircraft carrier in the air and was utterly shocked.

"We've been living with a very powerful airship all along? How come I never knew there was an airship in New York?"

“Because we can’t tell our enemies that we’re always here, we need to keep a low profile, Miss Stacy.” An older woman who stepped out interrupted Gwen’s reverie. The older woman was wearing an eye patch and gave her reason. Gwen paused for a moment and then extended her hand: “Oh, uh, hello, I’m Spider-Woman. Actually, I was thinking of a better codename, but everyone calls me that now.”

“I know, I am Peggy Carter, Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Welcome to S.H.I.E.L.D., Miss.”

Gwen had already explained the situation regarding Peter Parker from Earth-65 to Harry on the way there. She had mentioned before that, compared to Earth-616, the people of Earth-65 generally have lower psychological resilience. For example, Peter Parker from this world, unable to bear the bullying, used Connors' formula to develop the Lizard Serum, thus becoming a Lizard. Also, after hearing that Spider-Woman killed Peter, Harry didn't investigate the truth but instead joined S.H.I.E.L.D. and participated in the Super Soldier program.

His goal was to kill Spider-Woman and avenge Peter.

All I can say is that this universe is indeed quite crazy.

Harry listened to Gwen's explanation, or rather, her narration, with a dark expression. From Gwen's own perspective, there was no doubt that she had killed Peter. But after hearing all this, Harry simply closed his eyes and let out a long sigh.

"This matter may be more complicated than you think, so let's go to S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters to discuss it in detail."

And so, Gwen is here now.

"Alright, ladies and gentlemen, now I'm going to explain the situation."

After glancing around, Director Carter pulled up the information: "Thanks to Mr. Peter Parker from another world—who is their universe's Spider-Man—we finally know who the leader of the SILK, this technological terrorist organization, really is: Dr. Cindy Moon, a genius in genetic biology and engineering. And she is also the mastermind behind the Lizard Serum case."

Gwen the Spider stared at Carter in shock. Peter had said a lot about Cindy last night, but this point was not clear. He only said that this woman was the leader of SILK and that she created the Radiation Spiders, nothing more.

"Many years ago, Osborn Technologies discovered a substance in outer space. It was this substance that enabled them to create the first radiation-modified spider. However, the spider was killed before it could bite a person. The person who was almost bitten was Cindy Moon. For many years, she has been trying to replicate that spider, and of course, she succeeded."

These are all things Spider-Gwen already knows, and now she desperately wants to know some things she doesn't know.

"It's not just about modifying spiders; Kurt Connors' lizard serum is also based on the blood of those parasitic spiders. That bastard likes to abuse students, and Peter was abused by him. Sorry, our Peter and Connors."

Harry angrily recounted a small part of the past, a part that Spider-Gwen also knew. Upon hearing Harry's words, she immediately made a connection: "Wait, you mean, Peter's lizard serum is..." "Although the formula was stolen from Connors, the raw materials were most likely sold to him by Cindy Moon, for the purpose of testing the effects of the lizard serum." This was precisely the preparation S.H.I.E.L.D. had made to recruit Spider-Woman. Carter looked at Spider-Gwen: "Cindy Moon created dozens of lizard people across New York City to test the effects of this serum. But unfortunately, or rather, fortunately, we were one step ahead. Mr. Harry Osborn developed a more perfect lizard serum, avoiding its shortcomings and retaining only its advantages."

“My skin will still turn green.” Harry disagreed with Carter’s conclusion: “And if I suffer serious injury, I will still turn into a lizard, which is not a very good improvement.”

“Wait, Harry?” Spider Gwen understood Harry’s thoughts: “You mean, you’re going to take down Silver?”

“I must make a judgment, at least arrest Cindy Moon, for Peter's sake, I must get justice for him.” Harry looked at Gwen the Spider: “This may be the only thing I can do.”

After all, he could no longer avenge Peter's direct killer.

Spider Gwen opened her mouth, then nodded. Indeed, there was nothing left for her to remember Peter by, nothing more for him.

As for the rest, well, we'll leave it to Peter and Gwen.

Gwen simply became a spectator and watched the show. She wasn't actually a combatant; she just came on her own. But to be honest, if Osborn was the root of all evil on Earth 616, then Cindy Moon was the root of all evil on Earth 65. It's really unexpected that Cindy, who was as docile as a puppy on Earth 616, was actually a supervillain here.

Hmm, could there be a universe where Gwen is also a supervillain...?

“We will participate in the battle, mainly because we have things we want to figure out. So, the question now is, how many combat personnel does SILK have, and who are we going to deal with?”

Peter looked at Peggy Carter, who then showed him three photos: "As far as we know, Dr. Cindy herself doesn't have any combat abilities, but she has three superhumans under her command. One is Agent 77, who has superhuman speed and strength, as well as excellent jumping ability. Another is an engineer named Herman Schultz, who can release extremely powerful shockwaves. The third is very likely the one you're looking for, Kurt Connors, also known as the Lizard Man."

Three superheroes versus three supervillains—it sounds like a perfectly reasonable scenario.

“This is Cindy Moon’s address. Now, there’s only one thing you need to do: capture them. Of course, Miss Stacy, you don’t have to participate in this battle.”

In the end, Director Carter reiterated this point and reminded everyone with a smile: "Even if you don't participate in this battle, there won't be any problem, but if you are willing to participate, then S.H.I.E.L.D. is willing to drop the Daily Bugle's false accusations against you."
