Chapter 213 Symbiote Frenzy – Jameson Reports
"Avengers, attack!"
At seven o'clock in the morning, as the sun slowly rose, the cover team stood guard at the evacuation bridge, which had not yet fallen due to the endless symbiotes. The captain caught the shield that flew back after taking down several symbiotes, while Hawkeye hit an attacking symbiote with a sonic arrow, blasting it into a pile of mush, and looked at the captain at the same time.
"Actually, you know there are no Avengers here except you, right?"
The captain shook his head helplessly, saying he was used to it.
"Ms. Forster, what's the situation at the other evacuation points?"
Since the entire cover team consisted of only nine people, while there were a total of seventeen bridges to protect, and with the increasing number of symbiotes, the captain had to reorganize and divide the team into groups. The evacuation entrances were changed to one bridge each in the south, north, and east, and the team was divided into three groups to carry out the operation.
They had been fighting for a full eleven hours, repelling countless enemy attacks, and everyone was utterly exhausted. The captain took a deep breath, looked at the completely devastated Manhattan, and shook his head in disbelief. They had been fighting all night, and only now were they seeing the state of Manhattan.
The entire Manhattan was almost covered by symbiotes. Black biomass could be seen spreading between the buildings. One after another, symbiotes that could maintain their human form without a host climbed the buildings. Their numbers were almost endless, but their attack frequency was not high.
The captain looked down at himself; the barrier Strange had created was beginning to appear faintly, almost reaching its limit.
But... how do we defeat Gnar?
“This is Jonah Jameson, New Yorkers.”
Jameson kept his promise and chose to stay, reporting the footage of the invasion to the world. His loud voice had an unexpected effect; when he roared at the symbiotes with the microphone in hand, they all collapsed.
So, Jameson, the hacksaw expert, decided to return to the battlefield with his camera and microphone, reporting on the entire battle all by himself. He stood by the roadside, filming Captain America and his team's temporary retreat. Eleven hours of continuous fighting had exhausted even the superheroes, and now, with no one evacuating from any of the exits, it meant that even if there were other survivors in Manhattan, they had either been attacked by the Fear Symbiote or had other reasons for not choosing to evacuate.
This means that the remaining Manhattan has become a battlefield.
"The only thing we can be sure of is that these superheroes did not choose to retreat. Without a doubt, the heroes appearing on camera now all have the ability to evade the possession of these terrifying alien monsters."
"At the same time, I am also very certain that the other Avengers have not left here; they are still fighting somewhere in the city."
In the small Eastern European country of Latveria, Doctor Doom sat on his throne in his palace, holding Valya in his arms, watching New York City covered by symbiotes in the screen. The symbiote monsters seemed endless, and no specific origin could be found.
Reed Richards will find a way. He's not incapable of dealing with these lowly alien creatures. If even a loud-voiced reporter has survived this long, Reed Richards is certainly not out of the question.
Meanwhile, Jonah's news continued to be broadcast.
"If you encounter these monsters, don't panic. I've discovered some of their weaknesses. Use your loud voice, microphone, or megaphone to make a high-decibel noise, and they'll run away! They'll also avoid you if you have a lighter; sound waves and high temperatures are what they fear!"
On the fully-metal artificial island of Kenosha, the mutant nation, nearly eighty-year-old Magneto, Erik Lansher, watched the magically sealed Manhattan on television, speechless. He wasn't sure if Charles's students were involved in this affair, but they probably wouldn't stay out of it; the X-Men always seemed to get themselves involved in human affairs. "I suppose that's why you've come to say goodbye, isn't it, Mr. Wagner?"
Approaching Magneto was a blue-skinned man who looked exactly like the legendary devil. This was Kurt Wagner, Nightcrawler from the X-Men. He said, half-jokingly, "Yes, thank you for taking care of me these past few years, but the X-Men need me. Perhaps, they also need you..."
Magneto remained silent, clearly unwilling to get involved in the war between humans and aliens. Nightcrawler then bowed, transformed into a cloud of blue smoke, and teleported away.
"You really don't intend to help them?"
"Wanda?"
Standing in the doorway was his fifteen-year-old daughter, Wanda, who had the same dark red hair as her deceased mother. Magneto explained his reasons once again: "Wanda, you need to know. It's not that mutants are unwilling to help humans; quite the opposite, it's that humans have rejected the mutants' help. They don't need us, understand?"
"If one day humanity chooses to ask me for help, perhaps Magneto would agree out of respect for Charles Xavier. But not now. They haven't asked us for help, so why should we help them?"
"We just need to wait and see."
Others were also checking the news. Inside the Sanctum Sanctorum, the X-Men and the Avengers had all arrived, watching the report of Jameson demonstrating how to deal with the symbiotes using a megaphone. War Machine Rhodes shook his head helplessly and immediately retorted, "Are we just going to wait here? An ordinary old man can demonstrate how to deal with these guys, but when it comes to us, we're powerless?"
“We can’t take the risk, Colonel Rhodes.” Black Widow answered, also watching the news report. Even ordinary people like her, let alone superhumans, didn't choose to help, because the symbiote could read its host's memories. And if some information fell into Knuckles' hands, it might hasten their defeat.
The problem is that they don't know what to do right now.
They can only watch the news reports here and assess the situation.
"November 1, 2012, Thursday, 7:11 AM Washington, D.C."
The last person watching all of this coldly looked down upon it from the sky above Manhattan.
"We have jumped to the corresponding time point and begun to observe whether the spatiotemporal anomaly individual Peter Parker, codenamed Spider-Man, is the original sample that destroyed the continuity of time."
That year, Magneto was 75 years old, and the witch and Quicksilver were 15 years old.
Polaris 7 years old
Old Wan, still vigorous despite his age.
This one might be a little too fast-paced.
