Chapter 202 The Last Wednesday of the Month
Chapter 202 The Last Wednesday of October (Seeking monthly votes at the end of the month!)
Surprisingly, the signals sent within the symbiote had no practical significance.
On Klinta, the symbiotes' homeworld, they communicate using bioelectricity and emitted electromagnetic waves, forming a unique language logic and structure. Although Peter doesn't understand it at all, Venom, as a symbiote, is able to receive these signals.
This signal doesn't mean anything; it only represents one thing: telling other symbiotes its location.
It's roughly equivalent to sharing a location.
"It sounds like they were deliberately making noise on the common channel to cover up the riots that eventually escaped—but the question is, where did the riots go?"
I don't know if he didn't send his location.
After a brief pause, the venom was replenished.
That guy is terrifying, probably the scariest of all.
"I'll be careful. The symbiotes' weaknesses are very obvious, and I won't leave them any chance."
Having said what Venom didn't know whether to be happy or sad, Peter landed near Midtown High School, found a corner to put away his symbiote suit, tidied his hair and collar, and then walked towards the school gate.
Wednesday is a dreaded day, sandwiched right in the middle of a workday, with overtime the day before and work the next. Peter is no exception; today he has a detective agency activity, which will also take up his Spider-Man time.
"Hey Peter, good morning."
Gwen approached Peter with a look of longing, looking at him curiously, and asked, "Do you have time after school this afternoon? I have something I'd like to talk to you about..."
"Hmm? It's okay." Peter shrugged nonchalantly, then smiled. "I can always find some time."
"That's good... Just the two of us? We can grab a burger or something?"
"it is good."
Peter looked at Gwen with a slightly strange expression and frowned. It seemed like this was the first time Gwen had been so secretive. Could it be something important?
Peter shook his head and went into the classroom. Harry and Amadeus were chatting in the hallway. When Peter arrived, the two walked over mysteriously. Harry looked around and asked in a low voice, "Hey Peter, I heard the Avengers have disappeared. Is that true?"
"It's not as dramatic as disappearing. He just went to carry out a mission and will be back tomorrow afternoon."
Peter rolled his eyes at the two guys spouting nonsense and shrugged helplessly, but Harry got excited: "In other words, until tomorrow, Spider-Man will be the only superhero in all of New York?!"
"Don't underestimate the Defenders!" Peter muttered helplessly, then shook his head and rejected Harry's suggestion: "Sorry, I have an appointment with Gwen tonight, so the Spider-Man thing might have to wait."
Harry was a little dejected when he heard this, but the young man quickly shook off his dejection.
Peter then immediately told him another thing that made him feel down.
"Harry, do you know Dr. Otto Octavia?"
"My dad's good friend, his business partner, passed away a few years ago, so what?"
"The situation is complicated, but all in all, he is still alive."
Harry's expression changed as soon as Peter finished speaking, because he knew very well the meaning behind those words—only his father, Norman Osborn, could do such a thing. Peter then recounted the whole story that Doctor Octopus had told him, while also issuing a warning, since it was only Doctor Octopus's side of the story and couldn't be taken at face value.
Conversely, since Doctor Octopus is certain that this is the case, there must be a reason for it; it can't all be false. Therefore, Peter asked Harry to help investigate the matter.
Harry listened to everything with his fists clenched. He already knew how much of a jerk his father was, but he never imagined he could be this much worse. Helpless, Harry could only sigh and then tell Peter.
“I’ll try, Peter, but I’m not sure how much I can find out.”
"It's alright, Harry. On the contrary, it's a bit much for me to ask you to investigate this kind of thing."
After offering some consolation to his father's inhuman friend, Peter began another long and boring day. After school, the detective club's activities once again brought up Harry's earlier mention of going to Kravinoff Manor.
This time, however, it was Harry himself who objected. One reason was that he needed to investigate what Peter had told him, and the other was that Liz's father, Adrian, was still sick and hospitalized, and he wanted to stay and be with his girlfriend.
Felicia, unaware of the whole story, looked at Peter with slight surprise, then smiled, merely expressing regret. Peter gave her a rather disdainful look; you've already confirmed that Craven's manor is safe, so what are you pretending to regret?
Felicia completely ignored Peter's gaze. The detective agency continued with their usual reasoning games. After they finished, Felicia collected everyone's answers, and Peter unexpectedly received a note as he handed it over.
Felicia hoped Peter could talk to her after school.
But I already have plans after school...
Peter muttered to himself as he took out his phone and quietly asked if it was something very important, but the answer he received was rather speechless:
Maybe, maybe not.
What's this old man doing here? Peter sighed and simply said that he had some things to do in the afternoon, so hopefully it was something important.
This time, Felicia gave a very definite answer, concerning evidence of Kingpin's crimes. However, it wasn't particularly urgent; he could send her a text message after he finished.
Fisk's incriminating evidence... After Fisk surrendered, he was imprisoned on Rikers Island and lived a life of luxury. Your evidence will at most only keep him in jail for a few more years; it won't completely break him.
We must eliminate Fisk once and for all.
Of course, I'm not talking about murder.
"The most direct solution is to get the entire city of New York to abandon Fisk, to tell Fisk that his empire has abandoned him, but what if that doesn't work?"
Should we break his legs?
Peter rubbed his temples, sensing something was wrong with him. He was becoming increasingly irritable. He sighed and left the detective agency room, only to find Gwen waiting for him at the entrance of the activity room.
"Hey, Gwen, I was just about to go to your rehearsal room to find you."
"I've taken the day off; I won't be going to rehearsal today."
Gwen said with a hint of helplessness, glancing at Cindy who was following behind without saying a word, "Well... shall we go?"
I woke up to find that not many people were looking at the posts in the early morning, so I'll start posting the rest in the afternoon.
