Chapter 180 Wings of Flight
It was a very good dinner, and Adrian was quite satisfied with Harry, except that he might be Osborn's son.

Even so, Adrian was at peace with it. After dinner, he let his daughter and Harry talk, while he returned to the garage to admire his work.

Adrian Tums was once a prominent name, having developed the "Falcon," a bionic individual flight device that successfully became equipment for U.S. special forces.

However, the Falcon equipment was later proven to have many flaws, and most of the pilots carefully trained by the military died in the missions. The high cost of the Falcon and the training costs made the losses unacceptable.

In the end, only an old set of Falcon equipment remained, and the last surviving pilot, Sam Wilson, had already retired.

As for the second-generation Falcon that he had put all his effort into developing... it also failed to gain favor with the US military.

If it were simply a matter of his equipment being outclassed by Osborn Technology due to its cost-effectiveness, Adrian wouldn't have been so furious. But the more significant issue is that Osborn stole the anti-gravity system from his equipment and offered no compensation.

A strange noise came from behind him. Adrian turned around and saw Harry standing awkwardly by the metal shelf, holding a wrench in his hand. He smiled kindly and said, "What's wrong, kid?"

“I heard from Liz that you are an inventor, so I wanted to see what you have invented. I am quite interested in that, Mr. Adrian.”

As Harry spoke, he walked up to the second-generation Falcon equipment: "Wow... are these wings? Can it really fly?"

"Now? Not really. This thing requires a lot of electricity and will drain my electricity supply."

Adrian smiled and explained why the large wings were perched there, then sighed helplessly and sat down.

“My family wasn’t well-off, so I once thought of using this equipment to bid for the US military’s next-generation individual soldier airborne mobile platform. Unfortunately, I failed. Osborn Technologies’ proposal won the favor of the US military, so this thing became useless.”

Osborn Technology...

"Did Osborne Technology compete fairly?"

Harry suddenly asked this question, and Adrian looked at Harry with considerable surprise.

Why would you ask that, child?

“Because… well, you know, there are always rumors and stuff.” Harry hesitated for a moment, debating whether to reveal that he was Norman Osborn’s son, but in the end he didn’t. Instead, looking at the wings, he said half-jokingly, “Even if we can’t sell them, maybe we can do something else with them, like try wearing these wings and becoming a superhero?”

Adrian paused for a moment, then smiled and shook his head.

“It’s not that simple, kid. This is just a flight platform. I haven’t built the matching exoskeleton armor and weapons yet. I also don’t have the money for that.” Adrian looked at the wings that might never have another chance to fly and gave a helpless smile. “Besides, I don’t know how to fight, and I’m afraid I don’t have the ability either.”

"Ladies and gentlemen, let us welcome the protectors of America, the avengers of America!"

The next day, Adrian, who was pondering new issues and sending his resume to Stark Industries and other companies to see if he could find a new job, turned on the TV and saw a news story that made him both laugh and cry.

The Pentagon announced in Washington the formation of "America's Avengers," a team of superheroes with the same authority as the Avengers, but authorized by the U.S. government and with all operations backed by the government. A Pentagon spokesperson even proudly stated that "America has its own superhero team before any other country."

That's incredibly stupid.

Adrian didn't know what the Pentagon was thinking. Perhaps the Avengers and the government were at odds, with significant conflicts, but at least before, these conflicts hadn't become public or escalated. The Avengers were still widely considered an American superhero team, and even Black Panther's addition didn't change that. But now, the Pentagon had created its own superhero team, and not only that, but it was even named "America's Avengers." This could only prove one thing: the US government was eager to demonstrate to the outside world that they could protect America from superpowered individuals. Furthermore, they had publicly revealed the true identities of all members, thus showing that, unlike the masked vigilantes, these superheroes were legitimate and compliant.

What about the Avengers? Or even the more mysterious S.H.I.E.L.D.? Is the government trying to tell Americans that the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D. are untrustworthy by protecting the US itself? That's a stupid move.

only……

Adrian sipped his coffee, his brow furrowed. Pentagon officials were introducing the Avengers of America, but Adrian was most interested in the soldier named Chris Powell. The introduction mentioned he possessed extraterrestrial technology—a pure black, high-tech suit of armor. However, Adrian was even more interested in the enormous black wings on the back of the suit.

He remembered what Harry had said yesterday: those wings might create a superhero.

Adrian suddenly became interested. With nothing else to do, he took out a pen and paper and began designing armor and weaponry for his bionic wings, giving a complete upgrade to a brand-new superhero. Anyway, he was temporarily unemployed and didn't plan to build his own independent laboratory.

Just then, he received a phone call.

"Hello, are you Mr. Adrian Tooms?"

"Oh yes, it's me. How can I help you?"

The voice on the other end of the phone brought a delight to Adrian: "Hello, this is Aldrezi Killian, CEO of Advanced Idea Mechanics. We've seen your resume..."

"I'm sorry, but I don't think I've submitted my resume to your company yet."

Seeing Adrian's puzzled expression, the other party smiled: "Actually, we learned about your connection with Osborne Technologies and applied to the U.S. military to review your design. Although the military did not choose your design, we greatly admire your talent. AIM is a company with deep cooperation with the Pentagon, and we sincerely invite you to join us to help us compete with Stark Industries and Osborne Technologies."

"Oh... um..."

Killian didn't seem surprised by the other's hesitation, and instead offered some more information: "Did you see today's news? The Avengers thing."

"Uh, yeah."

"That robot called Citizen V is an AIM product. Of course, Citizen V is the name it received when it joined the hero team; internally, we call it a Super Adaptor. Does this prove our technological prowess?"

“If you are interested in coming to AIM, you can come for an interview tomorrow, Mr. Adrian.”

It was recommended on the 28th. The boss said it's best to keep it in 4K before it's recommended, and then update it rapidly after it's recommended.

So starting today, updates will be adjusted to two chapters per day, and then all updates will be made up on the 28th, which should be around 20 chapters.

The AIM concept is based on the movie Iron Man 3.
