Chapter 127 Daniel Rand

Top floor of the RAND Corporation headquarters in Manhattan.

As the chairman and largest shareholder of RAND Corporation, 29-year-old Daniel RAND stood in his office, recalling the meditation techniques he learned from the ancient East, and assumed a standard Tai Chi starting posture.

"Ignore everything and listen to nothing; embrace stillness of spirit, and your form will naturally become upright."

It has to be said that a foreigner reciting Zhuangzi in fluent Mandarin (at least at a second-class level) while practicing Tai Chi is a remarkable sight, no matter where you look. Especially since he's wearing a blue long gown at this moment, it's even more extraordinary.

Unfortunately, the leisurely morning is always short-lived, and Daniel, who was trying to adjust his mental state, was still affected by mundane affairs. Accompanied by an annoying knock on the door, he calmly said, "Come in."

“Mr. Daniel, Attorney Matt Murdoch has arrived.”

"Matt? Quickly, invite him in."

Daniel laughed. Matt, who was pretending to be an ordinary blind lawyer, walked in with a guide cane. Daniel warmly went up to him and hugged him.

"Long time no see, Matt. What brings you here?"

He heard the devil's whispers in his ear.

“I need Iron Fist’s help, Daniel.”

After the hug, Matt immediately smiled and explained his purpose: "Nothing, just came to see you. After all, the lawsuit to help you get your father's inheritance back from your uncle is a tough battle, and I have to see if my richest client so far has any legal issues to deal with."

"Yes, it feels like it happened just yesterday. We need to talk about something private between friends, please close the door, thank you."

Seeing his assistant close the door, Daniel's expression turned serious: "What happened, Matt?"

Daniel Rand, a martial artist who once trained in the mysterious sacred land of Kunlun in the East, had a past connection with Matt, aside from the legal issues surrounding Rand Medical Company. Their paths had crossed because Matt's master, "Stick," had once stopped the evil Japanese organization "Hand-Guild" from finding a passage to Kunlun. Daniel knew that, generally speaking, the Hell's Kitchen problem wouldn't be difficult for Matt, and with Fisk in jail, Matt should theoretically have an easier time.

"It's a big problem. Recently, or rather in the last decade, there have been large-scale human trafficking and disappearances in New York City. I just heard from some friends that the U.S. military is kidnapping people for human experimentation to create super soldier serum."

Upon hearing about the US military, Daniel's brows furrowed. He took a deep breath, about to reply, when Matt hadn't finished his harsh words: "Furthermore, it's highly likely that the US military has been infiltrated by Hydra. These human experiments were also aided by Hydra."

Hydra? The Hydra that fought Captain America during World War II?

Daniel gave Matt a strange look and then asked, "Are you sure? I thought they were wiped out during World War II."

"I think so too, but considering that Captain America has already been resurrected, Hydra might have come after us as well."

“Okay.” Daniel ignored Matt’s joke. “Do you need me to help you deal with those guys?”

“No need, but most importantly, we need a lab that can analyze blood samples and ensure no one can disturb us. RAND Medical isn’t a big company, so the chances of it being targeted by Hydra are slim.” As a member of a medical device company, Daniel could certainly handle this. He simply nodded and patted Matt on the shoulder: “Leave this to me.”

"Thank you."

"Oh, and also, if you need Iron Fist's help, just let me know."

"So, who is this Daniel Rand?"

Jessica Jones had asked this question countless times, to which Daredevil could only helplessly reply: "A friend of mine, whose father went on an expedition to the East when he was young, almost fell off a cliff but was rescued by the locals. Later, his father returned to the country and founded RAND Medical. After he achieved success, he took his wife, son and brother on a trip to the East to express his gratitude to the locals who had saved him."

What Rand never expected was that his younger brother harbored malicious intentions. While his brother was climbing Mount Kunlun, he took advantage of the lack of witnesses and surveillance to push his brother and his family off the mountain. What Rand never expected was that the locals who had rescued him were actually from a secret realm called "Kunlun." They rediscovered Rand's family and rescued the dying Daniel, just like his father had done.

“Daniel stayed there for ten years before finally returning to New York, reporting the incident to the police, and I eventually helped him get his uncle into jail in court.”

Jessica retorted, half-jokingly, "What was he doing there for ten years? Learning kung fu?"

Matt responded with a smile and affirmed.

"Yes, he's a good boxer."

Jessica seemed to understand something, raised an eyebrow, and then quickly moved on from the topic.

"So what we need to do now is compare Luke's and Captain America's blood samples. Your Avengers friend said he can get Captain America's blood sample, but how are you going to get Luke's blood? He's practically invulnerable. He even slashed himself with a chainsaw last time and didn't even leave a white mark. What kind of needle would you use to pierce his skin?"

"About this..."

Matt smiled without saying a word. Dressed in his uniform, he opened the door to the medical lab. Immediately, a muffled thud was heard. Jessica Jones was surprised to see that Luke Cage, who was supposed to be invulnerable to bullets and knives, had been punched and was now dazed. He quickly covered his nose, while Spider-Man took a test tube and connected it to the punch.

"Are you okay, buddy?"

The constant flow of blood from his nose quickly met the testing requirements. Luke, holding his nostrils, tilted his head back and said in a muffled voice, "No problem. I've taken much bigger punches before, I mean, from what I can tell. Dude, that was a really hard punch."

Daredevil smiled and looked at Jessica.

"If we had an Avenger whose punching power could easily exceed twenty tons, believe me, even if this person was invulnerable to knives and bullets, he would still be beaten until his nose bled."

"Then, what about the scientists in charge of the testing and comparison? You don't happen to know them, do you?"

Daredevil listened silently as Spider-Man placed the collected blood samples into the centrifuge. This Avenger was so versatile that there was no need to hire any more scientists.

The origin of Iron Fist has also been simplified and heavily modified. Most of the settings and stories of Marvel characters have been piled up into a mountain of garbage code, and appropriate deletions are needed to better fit the creation.

What are you babbling about? Your voice is incredibly powerful!
