Chapter 22 On-site Processing
After hearing the response from the dispatch center, Eric took down the walkie-talkie and looked at Annie, who looked obedient.

"Rookie, you're lucky. You learned how to handle a homicide on your first day."

After she finished speaking, Annie came out of her memories and stared at Eric in a daze.

"How to do?"

Seeing her half-understanding, Eric didn't expect this rookie to understand anything:
"The first step is of course to maintain the scene. Put on your gloves first."

Annie did as she was told.

Seeing this, Eric took her directly and started to follow the procedure after discovering a murder.

First, they woke up the unconscious Grann and put him in the back seat of the patrol car. Then they called the manager of the apartment building to explain the situation and asked him to notify the residents not to approach the scene.

Then they took tools from the police car and used security tape to cordon off the area around the room to prevent unauthorized personnel from entering and interfering with the scene.

When the two of them got here, reinforcements from patrol officers arrived at the scene after being arranged by the dispatch center.

Coincidentally, the people who came to support were none other than Will and his trainee, police trainee Jonah Carson.

The two of them walked in through the security door. Will had a blank expression on his face, but behind him, trainee police officer Jonah looked terrified. When he saw his colleague Annie busy beside Officer Eric, he felt like he saw a savior.

But he definitely didn't dare to call Annie at this time.

"I thought about who could have such a good opportunity at this time, and guess who was the first person I thought of?"

When Will saw Eric, the expressionless face disappeared, leaving only a hint of ridicule.

Eric left everything to Annie and said helplessly:

"it's me!"

Will smiled and said, "Congratulations on getting the answer right. Unfortunately, there's no reward."

He smiled and turned his head. His expression changed instantly. His smile faded and his expression became expressionless again as he looked at Jonah.

"Rookie, what are you still doing standing here? Have your eyes turned into needle points and you can't see the current situation clearly?"

Jonah forced a smile and said, "I..." He wanted to explain.

But this was interrupted by Will: "Huh?"

Jonah was shocked and hurried forward to take over Eric's work and help Annie with the work.

Eric felt relieved that someone was in charge of his own affairs. He and Will stood aside and slacked off, keeping an eye on the two rookies to make sure they didn't make any mistakes.

"What's going on?" Will asked quietly.

Eric said, "A guy with a broken brain hacked his own muqin to death."

"Shit!" Even after experiencing many bizarre police incidents, Will couldn't help but curse inwardly.

"This is fucked up!"

Eric said calmly, "Yeah."

The two newcomers of the same class finally met for the first time. Annie didn't say anything and just worked, but Jonah couldn't help it. He secretly glanced at the two superiors who were whispering and whispered to Annie.

"Aini, even though it's only been a few hours, I really want to ask you something."

Hearing this, Annie subconsciously glanced at Eric: "What's the matter?"

Jonah smiled wryly and said, "How are you doing? Are you finding joy in your work?"

Annie raised her eyebrows, able to see the anguish and bitterness behind Jonah's words. She thought about it seriously. Although it seemed that she was targeted by Eric in the morning, it was also because she did not have the concept of yin and yang of her superiors.

"good."

Jonah said enviously, "I really envy you. I feel like I really need a hug from someone to comfort me."

Annie ignored Jonah. When they were in the police academy, Jonah was quite cunning. She knew that this guy was interested in her, but the truth was, she never cared about this person.

Besides, in her opinion, no matter how difficult it is for the newcomers, it is nothing more than the instructor's duty. The purpose is to irritate and anger the newcomers, see their true reaction and test their ability to withstand psychological pressure. It has nothing to do with grudges.

According to what she knew from her father, the instructor's arrangement actually made absolute sense. One point was that this instructor would definitely teach you a lot of good things.

But she knew this clearly, so why couldn't she calm down? Thinking of this, Annie moved away from Jonah and secretly glanced at Eric, but she was caught off guard and her eyes met his.

It turns out he has been looking here the whole time.

Seeing Eric's expressionless face, Annie panicked and hurried to work.

Not hearing Annie's response, and seeing her pretending not to want to talk under the pretext of doing something, Jonah sighed inwardly, spread his hands and gave a wry smile, and could only do his job seriously.

"What about you? How are you?" Eric retracted his gaze and said to Will.

"We caught a poor guy who was in a hurry to get to work." Will folded his hands and shrugged.

"Giving him a ticket brings in revenue for the police department."

Eric smiled and said, "Good! Good."

Will looked at Eric: "No matter what, none of us are as wonderful as you."

"Of course."

Eric heard the noise and looked towards the intersection of the aisle. He saw a group of people walking towards him and went to meet them.

"I think so too."

Will followed behind.

"Yeah, Eric, I really don't envy you at all, although I really want to live such a wonderful life like you every day."

The first to arrive were the Forensic Science Department.

According to the process, they will conduct detailed evidence collection and analysis at the controlled crime scene, such as fingerprint extraction, DNA sampling, physical evidence analysis, etc.

To Will, this group of people might be a little unfamiliar, but to Eric, these forensic experts are all familiar faces.

There was no way. When he found that there were more criminal murders, he would naturally come into contact with these "babies" of the Los Angeles Police Department.

I don’t say I know everyone, but most of them look familiar, and there are quite a few acquaintances.

He was very familiar with Hope, the middle-aged man who led this group of technicians.

"Eric?"

Hope saw Eric and twitched the corner of his mouth.

"You discovered this again?"

Eric said rather unceremoniously, "What do you think?"

"shit!"

Hope, who led the forensic investigation this time, expressed his thoughts: "You are really weird!"

"I don't want this either." Eric said helplessly.

While the two were talking, Will stepped forward and walked towards the scene with the forensic technicians behind Hope.

"So this case?" Hope said, looking at the guarded scene in front of him.

"It's not a difficult case," Eric said.

"Because I've already caught the suspect red-handed. The scene is full of evidence, including the murder weapon. You probably just need to collect evidence."

When Hope heard this, he breathed a sigh of relief: "That's good, I've been so tired lately!"

Eric raised an eyebrow and said, "Huh? Have there been a lot of murders lately?"

Hope nodded and whispered, "A serial murder case just happened. The scene was a bit brutal. There's no news outside yet, so it's been suppressed. But it's likely that it can't be covered up anymore."

Eric's heart moved, but he didn't continue to ask. They had different duties, so he should stop at the right time. It was not a good idea for a small patrolman to ask too much.
