The Legend of the Condor Heroes: From Being Expelled from Peach Blossom Island
Chapter 235 The Mystery of the Innate Skill
Chapter 235 The Mystery of the Innate Skill
When Wu Chengyu returned to his room at Chongyang Palace, he suddenly realized that his greatest gain from this trip to the Quanzhen Sect was not the martial arts skills or the insights he gained from discussing the Dao with the Seven Masters of Quanzhen, but rather what seemed to have changed Li Mochou's life.
Anyone who has read the original novel should feel sorry for Li Mochou's life and think it was a waste, at least Wu Chengyu felt that way back then.
This can be considered a kind of regret, but unfortunately the bamboo slip did not show any reward. Perhaps we need to see how things develop and whether Li Mochou has escaped her original fate before the bamboo slip will show anything.
After all, even bamboo slips cannot predict the future, especially the future altered by Wu Chengyu, the butterfly.
After finishing this task, Wu Chengyu felt much more at peace. This shows that little girls have a healing effect, and Wu Chengyu is the best proof of that.
His current state has reached a critical point. It has been temporarily stabilized by the appearance of Xiao Mochou. Whether he can break through in the future is still unknown. After the breakthrough, he will master the Quanxing Wuming Heart Sutra and join the ranks of the world's best.
If he cannot break through, he may stop here and end up like Qiu Qianren, forever being overshadowed by the Five Greats. Of course, if he touches the threshold of the Subtle Realm, no matter how you look at it, he will be able to surpass Qiu Qianren in the future.
But so what? If I can't become the best in the world, why did I even bother to travel to this martial arts world? And how could I be content with that?
With nothing else to do, Wu Chengyu didn't want to explore Zhongnan Mountain any further, since Xiao Mochou was already the most beautiful sight in Zhongnan Mountain.
For the time being, no one is coming to see Wu Chengyu. The Seven Masters of Quanzhen have all disappeared recently, and no one is coming to discuss Taoism with him anymore. Only a few junior Taoist priests will bring him lunch and dinner on time.
He took out the Innate Skill he obtained from the ancient tomb and was finally able to calm down and study this supreme skill of the Quanzhen Sect. It was not the same as the Thousand Machine Hand.
However, the more Wu Chengyu looked at it, the more puzzled he became. At first glance, this manual did not describe internal energy cultivation at all, but was a classic Taoist internal alchemy text that summarized and perfected the theory and methods of internal alchemy cultivation.
This book is basically for cultivating immortality. The theories in the Qi cultivation section are very different from the current internal energy cultivation methods. Wu Chengyu couldn't help but wonder where Wang Chongyang's innate skill came from. Some of the theories in the book seemed to Wu Chengyu like a yearning for immortality cultivation, or like a fool's dream.
However, one point is ambiguous: it does not make a hard requirement for whether or not one needs to be a virgin for cultivation; it only mentions some advantages of virginity cultivation in some of the theories.
Putting that aside, this Innate Skill is indeed very profound and unfathomable. It is basically a theory, a very advanced theory, and has nothing to do with martial arts. It's just that later generations who obtained it did not use the book to cultivate immortality, but instead comprehended martial arts from it.
First, the practitioner must have an extremely high understanding of Taoist principles and martial arts. Ordinary people cannot even finish reading this book, let alone comprehend anything from it.
Moreover, everyone's cultivation level and understanding are different, so the martial arts they comprehend should also be different. Therefore, whether or not one is a virgin is not the key point in Wu Chengyu's view. Perhaps it just so happens that the martial arts Wang Chongyang comprehended included the restriction of maintaining virginity.
Or perhaps Wang Chongyang subconsciously believed that only by remaining a virgin could one cultivate martial arts, so the martial arts he comprehended inherently carried this condition.
No wonder the Old Urchin couldn't master it, nor could the Southern Emperor. As for the Seven Masters of Quanzhen, apart from Ma Yu and Sun Bu'er who were indeed not virgins, why didn't the others master it?
These five men were all quite old when they became Wang Chongyang's disciples, and it's very likely that none of them were virgins.
But Wu Chengyu couldn't be sure about this; he couldn't just run over and ask them directly.
Poor Lin Chaoying, she may very well have been ruined by this book for the rest of her life.
If Wu Chengyu were to try to understand this book, given his personality, he would only try to avoid this point. He doesn't want to be a virgin for life. So, the difference in his subconscious leads to different results when he tries to understand the book. That's how amazing it is.
Upon seeing this, Wu Chengyu was completely certain that this book was the original or general outline of the Innate Skill, left by Wang Chongyang in the secret chamber of the ancient tomb. The martial arts manual version of the Innate Skill that he had comprehended from this original should have been left in a hidden place in Chongyang Palace. This martial arts version of the Innate Skill was probably the one used to exchange for the One-Finger Divine Skill; the true original should never have been revealed to the public by Wang Chongyang.
The original version of the Innate Skill is indeed extraordinary. He has only read half of it, but he has already found that the book is extremely inspiring. Of course, what he will comprehend depends on his future understanding, but compared to the Innate Skill that Wang Chongyang comprehended, this original version is obviously more suitable for him.
The only problem is that it always feels so familiar.
He continued flipping through the pages, and the more he read, the stronger the feeling became; even entire sentences or paragraphs seemed familiar.
Thinking about this, his doubts grew. The first half of the book was mainly theoretical, but the second half began to emphasize the dual cultivation of body and mind, especially the cultivation of mind before cultivating life. As a result, more and more familiar words appeared before Wu Chengyu's eyes.
'Know that life is but a fleeting moment, and death is but a fleeting passing.'
"The true essence of the Way is used to cultivate oneself; its remaining influence is used to govern the nation."
Those who excel at governing external affairs may not necessarily bring order to the world; those who excel at governing internal affairs may not necessarily bring chaos to the world.
If these three sentences aren't obvious enough, then the following sentences are rather blatant.
'All six desires are satisfied in their proper way.'
'Preserve authenticity and integrity, without being burdened by material possessions.'
And the most famous saying: 'I would not give up even a hair's breadth to benefit the world; I would not accept the whole world's wealth to serve myself.'
By the end, the book had turned into a complete Quanxing theory, and the last third of the book was about how to cultivate Qi. This part of the book was 70% consistent with the original content of the Quanxing Nameless Divine Skill that Wu Chengyu had obtained.
Upon reading this, Wu Chengyu's back was covered in sweat. This theoretical work could basically be considered the Quanxing Daoist scripture, as it absorbed at least 70% of the Quanxing doctrines. So, could Wang Chongyang's Innate Skill have been derived from the Quanxing Daoist scripture?
Or perhaps some unknown senior of the Quanxing sect modified the Quanxing Daojing and the Nameless Divine Skill, but tried to distance the beginning from the Quanxing sect and simply didn't pretend in the second half. Later, for various reasons, it fell into the hands of Wang Chongyang.
Judging from this, if Wu Chengyu were to obtain the Innate Skill manual, which was comprehended by Wang Chongyang, it would likely be extremely similar to the Nameless Divine Skill of Quanxing that he is currently practicing.
Both are modified versions of the Quanxing Divine Skill, which is no longer suitable for the development of martial arts today. The only difference is that they are two different Taoist divine skills in appearance because the people who modified and comprehended them are different, but the underlying foundation is roughly the same.
Wu Chengyu felt as if he had discovered a huge secret. He originally thought that the meaning of the two characters "Quanzhen" in Quanzhen Sect should be as later generations of Taoism believed.
The true skill of cultivating inner purity and non-action, and the true practice of helping the world and benefiting people, when both are perfected, is called complete truth.
But now Wu Chengyu feels that the two characters "Quanzhen" actually mean "preserving one's true nature".
