Being a knight is not easy
Chapter 327 Too Many
Chapter 327 Too Many
Alina and Wind Chime continued their seemingly harmonious yet subtly cryptic conversation.
Alina wondered if the wind chimes had completely captured Robin's heart.
Wind Chime, meanwhile, was speculating about Alina's true purpose in returning—whether she wanted to reclaim Robin.
Although the two appeared to be smiling, their inner tension and vigilance remained undiminished.
In the reception room, Alina and Fengling sat facing each other, drinking black tea and eating snacks.
The living room was filled with the aroma of black tea and the sweet scent of pastries, and sunlight streamed through the windows, bathing the two of them in a seemingly harmonious atmosphere.
These snacks were all made by Robin in his spare time and are loved by his family.
The exquisite pastries came in various shapes, each exuding an enticing aroma, as if they carried Robin's unique scent.
"These desserts were really made by Robin herself," Alina asked in surprise.
A hint of nostalgia flashed in her eyes. She had once imagined Robin making these loving little treats for her, but now, things had changed.
Fengling smiled and shook her head: "He made it the first time, and the castle's chef made it after that." She elegantly picked up her teacup, took a sip of black tea, and her eyes held a hint of pride that was not easily detected.
Afterwards, Alina kept trying to find out Robin's location or when he would return.
She asked seemingly casually, but her eyes were fixed on Fengling's expression, trying to glean useful information from her subtle reactions.
"Is Allen very busy lately? Where does he usually handle his affairs?" Alina brought the teacup to her lips but didn't drink, instead observing the wind chimes out of the corner of her eye.
Fengling put down her teacup and said with a smile, "Miss Alina, you didn't come to Wilkeburg just to enjoy these pastries and tea, did you?" Her smile held a hint of scrutiny, as she didn't want Alina to achieve her goal so easily.
Alina's heart tightened slightly, but she maintained her smile: "I just haven't been here for a long time, and I wanted to see how Allen is doing, and also see if there's anything I can help with."
Fengling sneered inwardly; she didn't believe Alina's story. "Miss Alina is very kind, but Allen can handle his own affairs very well; he doesn't need outside help."
The wind chime deliberately emphasized the words "outsider".
Alina understood the deeper meaning in Wind Chime's words. She sighed softly and said, "Ms. Wind Chime, I know you may have some misunderstandings about me. Although Allen and I have a past, I am only showing concern as a friend now."
Wind Chime, however, was not about to let her off easily: "A friend's concern? Miss Alina, you and I both know that your relationship with Allen is not that simple. If you are just friends, you don't need to be so eager to know his whereabouts."
The atmosphere between the two became tense again; beneath the seemingly calm conversation, undercurrents were surging.
Viscount Wilke, who was eavesdropping on the rooftop, was thoroughly enjoying the conversation.
He crouched there, keeping his body as low as possible, his eyes fixed on the direction of the reception room, his ears perked up, afraid of missing any of the conversation that followed.
He found it like a captivating drama, with two women secretly vying for Robin's affections, a scene he found incredibly amusing.
"A first-ring wizard and a legendary knight, aren't you afraid they'll fight?" the viscountess said irritably from the side.
She crossed her arms and watched her husband eavesdrop like a child, finding it both amusing and somewhat helpless.
She knew that neither of these women was someone to be trifled with, and that if a conflict broke out, the consequences would be unimaginable.
He's an elder, yet he was squatting in a corner eavesdropping on his daughter-in-law.
The Viscountess felt that her husband's behavior was unbecoming of his status.
In her view, elders should possess the dignity and grace of seniors, not secretly eavesdrop on the affairs of juniors like this. Most importantly, Viscount Wilke even used the legendary knight's life force field for this.
This is a very rare occurrence; the Life Force Field is generally only used in combat or when facing danger.
And now, in order to eavesdrop without being discovered, he actually resorted to this. This made the Viscountess even more incredulous.
"You really are getting worse with age," the Viscountess said, gently patting Viscount Wilke on the shoulder.
Viscount Wilke, however, was unimpressed. He replied in a low voice, "Madam, this is a rare sight indeed. Don't you find it interesting? Besides, I'm doing this to get a heads-up so I can stop a fight if it really breaks out."
………………
Meanwhile, Robin had just dealt with the garrison at an important stronghold and was leading his men to clear the battlefield.
The battlefield reeked of gunpowder, with corpses lying haphazardly and weapons scattered everywhere.
Robin's War Knights were busily moving about, collecting usable weapons and supplies.
Suddenly I sneezed several times and shook my head for no apparent reason.
Robin himself found it a bit strange; the sneeze came without any warning.
He rubbed his nose, wondering to himself if something bad was about to happen.
Is someone still talking about him?
"You have a cold?" Will asked.
With neither the Ghost General nor Andysoo around, Will became Robin's right-hand man. When he saw Robin sneeze, he asked her with concern.
“How could that be?” Robin shook his head immediately.
He's an Order Knight, how could he easily catch a cold?
His gaze swept across the battlefield, calculating the gains and losses of this battle. "Let's clean up the battlefield quickly. We've been out here for so long, it's time to head back to Wilkeburg."
They achieved considerable success in their guerrilla warfare outside, but Wilkeburg was their base.
Having been away for so long, he was also worried about the situation back home. Moreover, he needed to go back to replenish supplies and allow the soldiers to rest and recuperate.
Upon hearing Robin's words, the knights sped up their efforts to clear the battlefield.
They loaded the collected supplies onto the wagons and settled their wounded comrades. Soon, everything was ready.
Robin mounted his warhorse, glanced at the battlefield behind him, and then led his Warhawk Knights toward Wilkeburg.
Upon returning, he was eager to reward the soldiers in his territory for their merits and distribute the power fruits he possessed, as he could no longer keep them hidden.
After all, the Knights Order couldn't handle the daily income of a hundred coins.
These power fruits are extremely useful for enhancing soldiers' strength, and hiding so many power fruits for so long will eventually lead to their discovery.
He didn't want these fruits to cause unnecessary conflict, so he preferred to generously reward the meritorious soldiers.
