Being a knight is not easy

Chapter 309 Mystery

Chapter 309 Mystery
As the days went by, Robin and Wind Chime gradually got used to life in Axley City.

The morning sunlight streamed through the window into the simple house. Robin stretched, then looked at the sleeping Wind Chime beside him, gently kissed her forehead, and got up to start a new day.

Robin, who clearly wanted to keep a low profile, became a well-known blacksmith in the East District.

His name began to be sung throughout the streets and alleys of the East District, and whenever people mentioned the skilled blacksmith in Hank's blacksmith shop, they couldn't help but give him a thumbs up.

Needless to say, the farm tools they forge are Hank's Blacksmith Shop's flagship products.

Those sickles, hoes, and plows, each one seemed to be a meticulously crafted work of art.

The blades of the farm tools are incredibly sharp, easily cutting into the soil or severing the stems of crops; while the handles are polished to a very smooth finish, making them comfortable to hold and effortless to use.

Farmers who used the farming tools made by Robin were full of praise, saying that their efficiency had improved significantly.

Many mercenaries who came seeking Robin's help also wanted her to forge weapons.

These mercenaries, having heard of Robin's exceptional craftsmanship, hoped to possess a weapon forged by him.

They arrived at the blacksmith's shop with all sorts of materials, their eyes filled with anticipation.

Some mercenaries want a sharp longsword that can easily cut through the enemy's armor in battle;
Some, on the other hand, hoped to forge a sturdy battle axe that could generate a powerful impact when swung.

Robin did not grant all the mercenaries' requests, knowing that his goal was to live a low-key life rather than attract too much attention.

He only selected some mercenaries who seemed reliable and made weapons for them.

"Robin, you know what? Your fame is growing, and I'm starting to worry." Wind Chime looked at Robin with a hint of concern in her eyes.

“I know, but refusing too many times isn’t good either; it might arouse suspicion. But don’t worry, I’ll be careful,” Robin reassured Wind Chime.

While forging weapons for the mercenaries, Robin also heard a lot of news from the outside world from them.

These messages included information about war, treasure, and mysterious organizations.

Robin silently kept these messages in mind, hoping that some of them might be useful to him.

One day, a mercenary wearing a black cloak walked into the blacksmith's shop.

His steps were light, his eyes sharp, giving him an air of mystery. He walked straight to Robin and said in a low voice, "Mr. Roland, I'd like to speak with you alone."

Robin's heart skipped a beat; he sensed that this mercenary was no ordinary man. Nevertheless, he nodded and led him to a small room behind the blacksmith's shop.

"Who are you? What do you want with me?" Robin asked warily.

The black-clad mercenary slowly removed the hood of his cloak, revealing a cold, stern face. He looked at Robin and said slowly, "Mr. Roland, I know you are no ordinary blacksmith. I represent an organization, and we are very interested in you. We hope you will join us."

Robin frowned: "What kind of organization are you? Why should I join you?"

The black-clad mercenary's lips curled into a slight smile: "Our organization can provide you with many things you desire, including power, wealth, and status. Moreover, we can protect you and keep you from the gatekeepers' pursuit."

Robin was startled; he hadn't expected this organization to know he was being tracked by the gatekeepers. He pondered for a moment, then said, "I need to think about it."

The mercenary in black nodded. "Okay, Mr. Robin. I hope you can make a decision soon. I'll come back to you."

After saying this, the black-clad mercenary put on his hat and left the blacksmith's shop. Robin watched his departing figure, his heart filled with doubt and worry.

What exactly is the origin of this organization?
What organization could protect itself in the face of such a powerful gatekeeper?
Why did they find themselves?

Why join yourself?
These questions swirled in his mind, causing him to fall into deep thought.

However, Robin quickly put it out of his mind. If the other party really wanted to win him over, they would definitely come knocking on his door again.

In this unpredictable world, we must not let too many unknown things disturb our peace of mind. The most important thing right now is to continue living a low-key life in Axley City and maintain this hard-won stability.

He would then test the other party's identity. He believed that as long as he remained calm and vigilant, he could handle any possible situation.

However, the wind chimes brought some bad news.

Wind Chime rushed into the house, her face showing a hint of anxiety: "Robin, I just received news that the Central Plains Allied Forces, with the assistance of the Gatekeeper Knights, defeated the Western Knights of the Knights Guild and once again pushed their army into the Western Territory."

Her voice trembled slightly, because she knew what this news meant for Wilke.

Wilke was the first to be affected, and Viscount Wilke hoped to return to oversee the situation for a while.

Robin frowned deeply upon hearing this news.

Wilke territory is facing a huge crisis, and as a member of the Wilke family, I have a responsibility to go back and protect the territory.

However, going back would mean that all his previous efforts in Akles City might be in vain, and he would once again be exposed to the watchful eyes of the Gatekeeper Knights.

"This is a really tricky problem," Robin muttered to himself.

Wind Chime looked at Robin and said worriedly, "Robin, what do you plan to do? If we don't go back, Wilke Territory might not be able to be defended; but if we go back, all our plans here will be ruined."

Robin paced back and forth in the room, pondering a solution.

After a while, he stopped and said, "I can't just stand by and watch Wilke territory fall. I have to go back. But we can't just rush back like this. We have to come up with a more careful plan."

"What method?" Wind Chime asked.

“Let’s see if we can find some allies to provide cover on our way back and reduce the risk of being discovered by the Gatekeeper Knights. Also, we need to make arrangements here so that our whereabouts cannot be easily tracked,” Robin said.

Wind Chime nodded: "I understand. So where do we begin looking for allies?"

“I think we can start with those mercenaries. Many mercenaries have asked me to forge weapons before. They come from different places, so perhaps we can find some reliable allies,” Robin analyzed.

So Robin and Wind Chime set out on their mission.

Robin kept an eye on the mercenaries who came to the blacksmith shop to pick up weapons or discuss business, trying to find suitable candidates among them.

Fengling went outside to inquire about any other forces willing to help them.

However, things did not go so smoothly.
