Being a knight is not easy

Chapter 203 Under God

Chapter 203 Under God
Before the morning mist had fully dissipated, a sentry's cry shattered the silence of dawn from the watchtower of Viscount Wilke's estate.

Robin abruptly pulled back the tent flap, and a biting wind carrying the distinctive coldness of metal rushed towards him.

Looking into the distance, the dark array of knights on the horizon resembled a pressing cloud, and Leo's black banner with silver lions fluttered in the wind, the sharp spearheads reflecting a cold, icy light, as if a steel forest was slowly moving.

Leo was clad in heavy steel armor, and beneath his silver helmet visor, his eyes gleamed with a chilling light.

He held the Sword of Judgment, a symbol of chivalry, its blade gleaming with sacred runes in the sunlight. Behind him, three hundred elite knights, clad in uniform heavy armor of black iron, gleamed their family crests on their swords and shields in the cold wind.

This knightly order was his trump card, carefully cultivated over many years. Every knight had experienced countless bloody battles, and wherever their iron cavalry went, nothing was left standing.

Even the weakest among them are formal knights; besides Leo, there are four legendary knights.

"Report! The Knights of Leo have arrived at the North Gate and demand that the city be opened immediately for trial!" The messenger came running up, panting, his voice filled with barely concealed tension.

Robin gripped the Dragon Slayer Spear at his waist, climbed the city wall, and looked down at the enemy army below.

Leo's knights were lined up in neat rows, the snorting of their warhorses mingling with the clanging of metal, creating a suffocating sense of oppression.

Although there were only three hundred people, Robin felt like he had a massive army.

"Allen Wilke! You have privately taught slave soldiers breathing techniques, disrupted the order of the knightly hierarchy, and violated the Knightly Code!" Leo's voice resounded like a bell, "Leave the city immediately and surrender, or I will raze this city to the ground!"

The Wilke garrison on the city wall watched all this with schadenfreude.

Now that the entire city has been taken over by the Zhan Ge soldiers, the atmosphere has instantly become tense.

"Leo, the so-called Code of Knights is nothing but a tool used by nobles to oppress commoners!" Robin's voice, crackling with magical energy, reverberated between the city walls and the knightly ranks. "What are you afraid of? Are you afraid that these lowly people will one day surpass you and you will be unable to prove your noble bloodline? Or are you worried that one day they will overthrow you?"

Leo's sword of judgment slammed down on the giant shield beside him, instantly cracking the black iron shield with spiderweb-like patterns: "Nonsense! Chivalry is the cornerstone of protecting the kingdom, how can you, a traitor, be tolerated?"

"The foundation?" Robin suddenly roared to the sky, memories surging like a crimson tide, recalling everything that happened when he first transmigrated.

The entire battlefield fell into dead silence.

Leo's pupils contracted sharply, the guards on the city wall held their breath, and even the circling crows stopped cawing.

Robin gripped the Dragon Slayer Spear tightly, the dragon patterns on the spearhead radiating blinding golden light: "Bloodline, family honor, it's all bullshit! Under God, what is the supremacy of bloodline? When Adam tilled the fields and Eve wove cloth, who was the nobleman?"

These words struck like a thunderclap, causing Leo's Knights to lose their footing slightly.

A young knight subconsciously touched his family crest, while the slave soldiers below the city walls, those who had been branded as slaves, had an unprecedented fire burning in their eyes.

Robin's voice suddenly became deep and powerful: "Look at the land beneath your feet, every furrow is stained with the blood and sweat of the common people! Today, I will establish true justice on this land irrigated by blood and sweat!" Heavy breathing came from beneath Leo's mask. He raised the Sword of Judgment, pointing it at Robin, the runes on the blade flashing wildly: "Stubborn madman! Let the Chivalric Code deliver its punishment!"

"Come and crush me?" Robin sneered, the dragon scales beneath his skin moving like living creatures. "Then let your iron cavalry trample over the corpses of these five thousand warriors first!"

Behind him, the soldiers roared in unison, their long spears piercing the sky like a forest, stirring up clouds of dust.

In the distance, Lady Aishar's magical airship pierced the clouds, purple magical runes flowing along the ship's sides, adding an even stronger magical touch to this showdown that was about to overturn the old order.

Andy Sue's palm, gripping the sword, was sweating profusely as he stared intently at Grand Knight Commander Westin.

At this moment, Robin's questioning from the city wall struck like a heavy hammer against his heart, and those deliberately forgotten fragments of memory were being sharply pieced together.

"Why can noble apprentices learn breathing techniques directly, while we have to wait an extra year?" the young knight apprentice suddenly spoke, his voice trembling in the silence.

His wristbands still bore the dents from sparring with the noble children. "I entered the knight's apprenticeship a year earlier than them, yet..."

“Because we are a threat.” A hoarse voice rang out from the crowd. The one-eyed veteran wiped his rusty longsword, his cloudy eyes turning to Westin. “I once heard a saying, ‘The talents of a free man must be chained.’”

Feeling the gazes of the commoner knights around him, Westin's face turned from pale to ashen. He gripped the sword at his waist, only to find dozens of eyes staring at him like thorns in his back.

Andys suddenly remembered what the Lord had said when he taught him the "Earth Dragon Breathing Technique." It was clearly a basic breathing technique, yet the Lord was able to cultivate it to the legendary level, while they could hardly even break through to the Great Knight level.

“Over the years, I’ve practiced three hours more every day than the noble children.” Andy’s voice trembled with suppressed emotion. He pulled open his collar, revealing his meridians twisted from practicing the wrong breathing technique. “Lord Westin said I had poor talent, that I would never break through to the mid-stage.” He suddenly drew a short blade from his waist, its cold light pressed against his throat. “Now I understand, it was you who feared my sword, a commoner’s sword, that would sever your privileges!”

An angry commotion erupted from the crowd.

The free knights gripped their weapons tightly, some tearing off their knighthood emblems and slamming them to the ground with a sharp, metallic clang.

Westin took a half step back, bumping into the weapon rack behind him. The displayed longswords crashed to the ground and shattered into sharp fragments at his feet.

"Shut up, all of you!" Westin roared, his voice trembling with barely concealed anger. "You dare question the Code of Chivalry?!"

"The Codex?" Andisu suddenly sneered, the dragon scale patterns on his skin radiating a faint heat—a gift from Robin, who had infused him with the Force of Life. He raised his short blade, pointing it at Westin, the tip reflecting the latter's terrified face. "The true Codex should be etched into everyone's very bones, not hidden in your moldy parchment scrolls!"

Robin suddenly raised his hand, stopping Andy Sue's anger.

Grand Knight Commander Westin's flushed neck was still heaving violently, but under Ito's icy gaze, his hand gripping the sword hilt slowly loosened.

"Westin, take your men and leave." Robin's voice was deep and unquestionable, the gilded patterns on the Dragon Slayer Spear shimmering in the sunlight. "Some scores can be settled another day."
