Chapter 109 Far-Reaching Foresight

Chapter 109 Far-Reaching Foresight
After being chased out by an unfamiliar alchemical golem, Eric suddenly realized that the instance he had entered in his previous life was a remnant that had already been conquered by someone else.

No wonder you don't need to open any iron gates when starting a dungeon...

In this world, he was the pioneer of the underground laboratory of this abandoned magic tower.

Because the incident happened suddenly and he didn't know the specific situation inside, he asked Leslie to leave first.

Back on more open ground, the two didn't retreat too far. They turned around and prepared to deal with the monkey-like alchemical golems that were chasing after them.

boom!
A fireball blasted away the puppets that had become quite concentrated in their pursuit. Eileen ran to Eric and Leslie's side, "Are you alright?"

"fine……"

Eric looked at the golems scattered in all directions, some broken, some crippled, with very few intact ones remaining, and sighed that mages were still more efficient at clearing mobs.

He and Leslie cleaned up the remaining puppets.

There were quite a few of these little creatures, which startled him when he first saw them. But they were actually not difficult to deal with. Once the small knives in their hands were knocked off, they were completely harmless—like a robot vacuum cleaner with blades attached, but with a lower level of intelligence.

Eric stood above, looked down at the passage below, and said to the two, "It seems we really are the first to break this seal. The situation inside is more complicated than I anticipated."

"Will there be any danger?" Leslie was always more worried about the safety of the brother and sister.

“It’s hard to say.” Eric glanced at the puppet remains on the ground. “If they’re all like this, then it’s alright.”

In his previous life, the Collapsed Tower was just a level 40 early-game dungeon that dropped some mage equipment and some not-so-valuable alchemy materials—now it seems that it had already been looted.

“Let’s explore step by step,” Eric said to Leslie. “Be prepared, and be ready to back out at any time.”

“Yes,” Leslie replied, and the two jumped back down into the tunnel, exploring with even greater caution.

The underground laboratory has a fairly simple structure, consisting of two floors connected by a separate staircase. They had only just stepped into the first underground floor of the laboratory.

Standing at the entrance, Eric fired a luminous ball into the darkness, instantly illuminating the underground space.

"..."

The two of them gasped.

Inside the laboratory, there were many alchemical golems of various shapes and sizes, some small ones similar to the ones they had chased out earlier, while the larger ones resembled the BOSS from the first basement level in Eric's memory. There were five of them in total.

The alchemical golems stood silently in rows, motionless. Eric guessed they would only awaken when someone approached them at a certain distance and sensed their intrusion.

“It seems this isn’t a mage tower; it should be called an alchemist tower,” Leslie said.

“There’s no such thing. Regardless of talent, alchemists are basically all mages.” Eileen’s voice came from behind. The two of them were so engrossed in the alchemical golems that they didn’t notice that she had followed them down.

Eric shifted his gaze from the BOSS-type puppet inside and asked, "Is there a way to control those puppets?"

Eileen glanced inside a few times, then shook her head. "I don't understand alchemy. I don't even understand how these things move."

“Alright.” Eric sighed. It seemed the only option was to eliminate all these puppets.

"Shall we get started?" Eileen asked, eager to try.

Eric was about to nod when he immediately objected, "We can't do it here."

It's easy to imagine how little would be left after she set it ablaze. He had brought her all this way specifically for the mage equipment inside—and now he knew that there were even more treasures hidden inside than he had originally thought.

Eric looked up and an idea popped into his head. "Eileen, why don't you go up there and wait? Leslie and I will lure these alchemical golems out, and then you can attack them once we're outside."

"Okay." Eileen put away her staff and went upstairs.

Eric looked around the laboratory for a while, then exchanged a glance with Leslie and nodded.

He slowly walked in, looking straight ahead while concentrating on the movements around him. When he was about ten meters away from the nearest spherical alchemical golem, the one in the very center suddenly trembled and then stood up.

Subsequently, the entire row of alchemical golems exhibited the same reaction.

Eric retreated quickly, and the alchemical golem, already activated, spun like a ping-pong ball, rapidly approaching him.

Several sharp blades lashed out from its waist, making it look even more dangerous than the monkey-like puppets from before.

Eric quickly retreated and stood guard above the passage with Leslie. Once the puppets came up, they had Eileen bombard them with explosive fireballs.

boom!
These puppets also couldn't withstand the bombardment of Eileen's magic and were blown to pieces and sent flying. The detached blades also flew into the sky. The three of them quickly hid under the ruins of the mage tower next to them.

"It's raining knives..." Eileen looked outside.

Eric looked at the puppet fragments lying on the ground. "Has alchemy advanced to this level?"

“I’ve never seen such a flexible alchemical golem anywhere else,” Leslie said. He paused, “Young master, we may have found the mage tower of some alchemy master.”

Eric nodded. "This might be the pinnacle of alchemical golem technology."

He was even more curious about what was hidden inside the complete laboratory.

Eric and Leslie went out to clear out the remaining two or three puppets, and then, in the same way, lured out the puppets in the laboratory in batches so that Eileen could eliminate them.

Before long, only the five gigantic BOSS-type puppets remained on the first basement floor of the laboratory.

With their large size and weak defenses, these boss-type puppets couldn't even get out of the door. Eric's plan was to lure them to the door and eliminate them one by one.

"This thing moves slowly, and its attack methods are actually inferior to those smaller ones; it only has heavy punches, which are easy to dodge..."

If it's the same as he remembers.

Leslie nodded and went straight in to seduce him, only to be blasted away by a powerful punch that was so fast it took her to blink.

"Pfft...Young Master..."

Leslie coughed up blood, "Didn't you say it was easy to dodge?"

Eric said somewhat helplessly, "I haven't finished speaking yet."

He was also somewhat shocked by the speed that the BOSS displayed.

Could it be that the final boss left in the dungeon as the number one boss was actually a puppet that was almost destroyed?
He quickly dragged Leslie outside, grasped the Holy Spirit pendant, and began to heal him.

With a chant, a bright white light emerged from his palm and then entered Leslie's body, healing his injuries.

"Young Master, you say you know a lot about this... Did Yera really tell you that?"

Eric was silent.

He felt that this dungeon run today had almost completely exhausted Leslie's trust in him.

Fortunately, the head guard was tough and could withstand a beating.

"I'm looking towards the more distant future."

Eric continued the treatment and looked into the laboratory. Although Leslie had been blasted out, the effect was achieved. The BOSS was stuck at the door, unable to get out or move.

"At that time, there were very few puppets left here, and their strength was far less than it is now."

Leslie took a deep breath, feeling the pain had subsided considerably. "Luckily, I was the one who went in just now."

Eric patted him on the shoulder without saying anything.

The two stood up, and Leslie stretched his body a bit, exclaiming, "Young Master's healing skills have become even more exquisite."

“When was the last time you received treatment from me?” Eric asked.

Seeing that Leslie was unharmed, Eileen, who had been watching from the sidelines, breathed a sigh of relief. "Eric, Leslie, step back, I'll take over the attack."

"It's alright, it can't move anymore, let Leslie and I handle it."

Eric swung his sword, but the alchemical golem was incredibly strong, though its body wasn't very hard. He couldn't tell what material it was made of, only that it wasn't metal. With a little force, his sword could pierce the golem's body.

With a hacking and slashing motion, debris quickly fell to the ground.

Eric thrust hard, feeling the tip of his sword hit something hard, so he kept slashing and slowly dug a hole.

Upon removing the debris, a deep blue gemstone was revealed inside.

Eric looked at the puppet, which was now unable to move, reached inside, and pulled out the gem.

The moment the gem left its body, the entire puppet suddenly disintegrated, shattering into countless fragments.

Immediately afterwards, Eric saw a giant, heavy fist protruding from inside.

Leslie, who was standing to the side, saw him suddenly fly up from the spot, his toes touching the outstretched giant fist, and his whole body leaped into the ground above.

"This is... a combat technique?"

Eric above let out a heavy sigh. "Yes, I learned it in Lesser."

He tossed the gem to Eileen, "Look what this is."
