Chapter 153 Goodbye, President Teng

Chapter 153 Goodbye, President Teng

My cousin is a great guy. If he gets rich, Yan Hui will definitely enjoy the good life and be able to do whatever he wants. When my cousin has money, he's really generous.

But his cousin was a bit out of touch with the pace of business. Yan Hui believed that doing business meant taking risks and being willing to gamble! If you lost, you started over; if you won, you kept going. However, upon closer reflection, he felt his thinking was somewhat harsh. When his cousin first came here, he didn't know anyone. Later, he got to know many people from Putian, integrated into their circles, and ate with them. In the end, his life got better and better.

Yan Hui doesn't owe anyone any favors. When he wanted to find a client like President Teng, he felt no pressure at all and just used business methods honestly.

But it would be difficult for my cousin to do that. If he were to steal customers like that, the friends who helped him before would no longer be his friends.

No longer thinking about his cousin, Yan Hui lay down on the bed and fell into a deep sleep.

The next morning, Yan Hui arrived at the bookstore early and arranged to read with Su Jin. They had lunch together, then Yan Hui said goodbye to Su Jin and went alone to Boss Teng's processing plant.

When Yan Hui arrived, General Manager Teng wasn't there; only Haotian was. None of the main machinery was running; the only machine operating was the surface planer.

"President Yan!" Haotian looked to be in good spirits and was pleasantly surprised to see Yan Hui. "Are you here to see our President Teng? President Teng isn't here right now. Should I give him a call?"

"No rush, let me take a look first. How about it, is this planer easy to use?" Yan Hui followed Haotian into the processing plant.

"It works great! Mr. Yan, we've been waiting too long for this machine. Our General Manager Teng said he plans to get another one by the end of the year! Our processing plant relies on General Manager Teng's word for everything. Sometimes we have work when the construction site has a need, and when there's no need, we're idle. Now that we have this planer, we've even taken on some other jobs." Haotian was genuinely in a good mood when he saw Yan Hui.

"What are they processing?" Yan Hui asked, somewhat curious.

"The demand for stair railings is also quite large, but the precision of the processing was not high enough in the past," Haotian explained.

"A surface planer, used to machine stair railings?" Yan Hui was completely stunned. This planer is used to optimize the flatness of a surface, and it's being used to optimize stair railings?

"It works great, as long as you operate it properly." Haotian didn't care about such details. Anyway, the workload wasn't heavy, so he could just take his time.

“That’s true. The problem is, larch timber has too little shear strength. Shouldn’t we use willow for the stair railing?” Yan Hui looked at the finished railing with some doubt.

"This is much cheaper than willow wood!"

"That's true," Yan Hui said noncommittally. Fortunately, stair railings aren't subject to much lateral force.

Haotian was very grateful to Yan Hui, as the wood Yan Hui delivered was of guaranteed quality, which allowed Haotian to find ways to increase his profits. Although Yan Hui delivered standard boards, even standard boards can be further processed, and "waste" is normal during this process.

Just as an electrician knows the price of copper, Haotian naturally has a thorough understanding of timber prices. Yan Hui's timber is of high quality and has a high yield, allowing Haotian to earn more.

"Thank you for your support during this time; Mr. Teng has consistently said that the timber is good." Yan Hui's words were indeed true.

Never underestimate a character like Haotian.

"I should be thanking President Yan. The materials you delivered were practically all usable. I'm actually quite curious, did you supervise every single truckload of materials being loaded?" Haotian was genuinely surprised.

You know, when loading timber onto trucks, many people will put the inferior timber inside so it's not noticeable from the outside. But Yan Hui's shipments have always been of consistent quality, which is quite remarkable. "Yes, I have to be responsible for you," Yan Hui nodded.

Haotian was moved by Yan Hui's words and quickly invited Yan Hui into the small house for tea.

While drinking tea, the two continued their discussion on timber processing. Haotian also had some unique experience in this area, and the two chatted amiably.

Haotian wasn't cut out for business, and he liked to boast, so he told Yan Hui whatever he knew. During their conversation, Haotian mentioned some things about President Teng.

In Haotian's eyes, President Teng was a very capable person. In the early days, when President Teng went to negotiate construction site projects, he had no connections or resources at all. He relied entirely on communication and chatting, talking little by little, and eventually succeeded.

Haotian's explanation was very unprofessional. Yan Hui felt that President Teng must have told Haotian about this history, but Haotian didn't understand it and only got the gist of it.

There are some things that people who haven't experienced them can't explain clearly.

This also reflects a current business reality. Sometimes, when negotiating a deal, two people talk for half an hour, see nothing, and yet a contract is signed. Outsiders simply can't understand it, thinking the boss is so careless. But in reality, if you're not an expert, you wouldn't even last three minutes. Those who can talk for half an hour are definitely people who have truly delved into this industry.

As they were chatting, Mr. Teng's car pulled up in front of the door. Yan Hui saw the car through the window, immediately stood up, and went out to greet him.

"President Yan, it's been a long time!" President Teng walked over and shook hands with Yan Hui when he saw him.

"President Teng, you are as impressive as ever!" Yan Hui grasped President Teng's hands with both of his. "These past four months have been a truly pleasant working experience with you. You are indeed a very capable and charismatic person."

"Haha, I'm still the same as always, but Mr. Yan, you've changed so much, I almost didn't recognize you!" Mr. Teng laughed heartily.

Although he spoke in a joking tone, it was the truth.

From a poor laborer to a successful business owner, Yan Hui's transformation in the past four months has been remarkable. Even someone as knowledgeable as President Teng could tell at a glance that Yan Hui was no ordinary person.

"Maybe it's because the Northeast is a good place for people to thrive." Yan Hui was too embarrassed to respond to this.

"It's not that simple, Mr. Yan. You don't know this, but many people in the market know you now. After all, you're considered a big shot here! If you had come to me four months ago to do business, I would have dared to put down a deposit right away!" Mr. Teng was indeed a seasoned veteran in the business world, and his words were pleasant to hear.

"You flatter me, by the way," Yan Hui said, taking out a beautiful wooden box from his bag. It was a mahogany box.

This wooden box is worth at least 200 yuan.

"This is a wild product I got from the deep mountains of Northeast China. It's not expensive, but it's hard to find. I specially flew back to bring it to you." Yan Hui took out the wild ginseng.

Mr. Teng had rarely seen this kind of thing before. After taking it out and looking at it, he clicked his tongue in amazement: "Mr. Yan, don't make any arrangements tonight. Let's have a good chat, just the two of us!"
