Chapter 177 The Death of Myrcella
Chapter 177 The Death of Myrcella
Wag raised his hand, and when the prey was fully inside the trap, he swung his arm down sharply.
"Fire arrows!"
Arrows rained down from all directions, more than thirty arrows tearing through the night sky at the same time, followed by screams echoing through the valley.
Caught off guard, the guards were pinned to their horses and fell to the ground, their bodies convulsing. The surviving guards reacted quickly, drawing their longswords and forming a tight circle to protect the palace in the center.
"Fight to the death and never retreat!"
Wag grinned maliciously, drew his scimitar, and charged down the hillside like a wild beast.
Although the guards were brave, they could not withstand the well-prepared sneak attack. They fell one after another, staining the ground beneath their feet red.
The battle ended quickly. Wag used his toe to lift the corpse of a knight, making him face up. "An unfamiliar knight, but quite formidable. He's the one who killed Pag."
After saying that, he stomped his foot hard, smashing the man's head to pieces, like crushing a watermelon. Then he stepped over the haphazardly lying corpses and walked to the front of the Wheel Palace.
"Open the Wheel Palace."
Tog Chous kicked open the palace gates, and the moonlight illuminated the face of a young girl, her emerald eyes flashing with fear.
Her golden curls were neatly piled up at the back of her head, and she wore a light gold velvet dress with a ruby necklace around her neck.
Yi Ge roughly grabbed her arm and dragged her out of the Wheel Palace. The girl gasped, but bit her lip, trying to remain calm.
"Please, please let me go." A pleading glint appeared in her eyes. "We can talk this out. I am Princess Myrcella! Lord Tywin's granddaughter! The King's sister!"
"Princess Mysera?"
The members of the Blood Opera troupe exchanged bewildered glances; the air suddenly froze. Murder and robbery were commonplace for them, but this was the first time they'd ever fought among themselves.
Wag frowned, his eyes darting around. "Nonsense! It's clearly an imposter. How could Her Highness the Princess be here!"
"She really is Princess! And you are Vargh Hot! I've seen you before!"
Just then, an elderly man who looked like a steward crawled out from under the wheel palace, his voice trembling.
“We were ordered by Lord Tywin to escort the princess to Dorne for her engagement to Tristan Martell. Now that all the guards are dead, could you serve as temporary escorts to Dorne? I believe Lord Tywin will not only not blame you, but will certainly reward you handsomely!”
The Blood Play Troupe fell into a brief silence, all looking at Wagner for his opinion.
“It’s not impossible, we still have to give Lord Tywin face…” Vargmor stroked his chin, a string of glistening saliva dribbling down the corner of his mouth.
No wonder the knight is so powerful, he's a member of the Royal Guard!
The former Kingsguard were all dead in Pentos, and they had never seen the new Kingsguard, let alone deliberately concealed their identities.
Just then, Three-Toe pulled out a hidden compartment from under the Wheel Palace. "Captain! Look at this!"
Everyone's attention was drawn to it, and then they gasped in shock!
In the hidden compartment, chests of glittering gold coins were piled up like mountains, shimmering with a dazzling light under the moonlight.
“Seven levels of hell!” Uswick grabbed a handful of gold coins, which then trickled through his fingers with a pleasant clinking sound. “How many are there?”
After carefully examining the boxes, Coburn said, "Each box holds about 100,000 gold dragons, at least twenty boxes. Two million, maybe more."
The members of the blood-themed troupe all gaped open in shock!
This wealth was enough to allow each of them to live a life of luxury, indulging in fine clothes and sumptuous food, even more extravagant than that of a king!
“We can’t do that,” Rolger suddenly broke the silence. “This is Lannister gold. If we take it, we’ll have to flee to Essos and never come back. And Lord Tywin will hunt us down to the ends of the earth at all costs.”
“Don’t be silly, you fool!” Shagway laughed hysterically, his eyes practically overflowing with greed. “With this gold, we can buy a palace in Braavos and hire an army to protect us! To hell with Tywin Lannister!” A chorus of arguments erupted. Some suggested escorting Myrcella, some wanted to escape with the gold, and others advocated killing her to silence her, completely disregarding the feelings of Myrcella and the steward standing nearby.
"Commander, you decide!" Uswick looked around at everyone, his gaze settling on Varg.
Wag's forehead veins bulged, his gaze lingering between Mysera and the gold coin, momentarily hesitant.
Myrcella noticed his hesitation and said softly, "If you let us go, my grandfather Lord Tywin will give you even more gold. I swear on the Lannister name, Lannisters always pay their debts!"
"What are you dawdling for! Only a dead man would betray you!" Yi Ge roared impatiently. With a flash of his blade and a sudden glint of cold light, Misella was instantly decapitated!
Everyone was stunned by the sudden turn of events, and the butler was trembling with fear, with foul-smelling liquid dripping from his crotch.
"Damn it, you bastard!"
Wag cursed angrily, but Yige's scimitar had already made the choice for the Warriors. In the end, he could only order, "Kill the steward! Retreat south!"
The crowd nodded in agreement, led their horses laden with gold south along the path, and disappeared into the night.
The blood moon hung high, silently witnessing this tragedy.
...
Two hours later, a large cavalry force arrived at the scene, led by Jaime Lannister, who was covered in dust and looked anxious.
"Search separately!" he ordered. "Find the princess!"
The knights quickly dispersed and began searching the entire area.
Soon, a knight shouted anxiously, "Here!"
James rushed over, but the sight before him made him feel as if he had fallen into an ice cave.
Myrcella lay in a pool of blood, her head severed from her body, her green eyes still open, but devoid of the light of life.
Jaime jumped off his horse, his knees buckled, and he tumbled and crawled to his knees beside Myrcella, tears streaming down his face uncontrollably, large drops falling to the ground.
“Mysera…” His voice was hoarse as he gently lifted the already cold body, “I shouldn’t have let you come…”
The knights quickly found the clues, but they all stood silently nearby, watching the tragedy unfold, and none of them wanted to say a word.
"Is this the punishment from the gods?"
Why aren't you punishing me?!
Jaime's eyes were bloodshot as he tightly embraced Myrcella's corpse, roaring to the sky. His voice was filled with endless grief and rage, echoing through the valley for a long time and startling a flock of birds.
He didn't know how much time had passed when he murmured, "I want to take her home."
The knights carefully placed Myrcella's body into a makeshift coffin and covered it with the Lannister lion banner.
Jaime stood up, his tears dried, leaving only a deep-seated hatred: "Half of the men will escort the princess's body with me, and the other half will follow the clues to hunt down the murderer!"
The knights sprang into action immediately. Jaime took one last look at the blood-stained scene, his eyes burning with the flames of revenge.
"No matter where you hide, I will find you and tear you to pieces. For Mysera, I swear."
