Game of Thrones: I am Dothraki, not a barbarian
Chapter 166 Garan, Welcome the Zhang Family
Chapter 166 Garland, Welcome Home
The starry sky was clear and bright, with countless stars twinkling, as if countless eyes were watching over the earth.
The two huddled together in the wolf pelt. Margaret rested her head on Rahalo's chest, her long hair cascading down. Rahalo twirled a strand of brown hair around his fingertip, as if admiring a rare treasure in the moonlight.
“Your hair is like the water of Dagger Lake,” Rahalo whispered in her ear, his soft, silky hair “golden in the sun and brown in the moonlight.”
Margaret chuckled and looked up at Rahalo. "Is this your Dothraki love talk? I thought all you did was ride horses and fight."
Rahalo grinned. "You looked just like a Dothraki warrior on horseback."
Margaret blushed and quickly shrank back into her wolf-skin cloak, then pinched his waist hard again.
She gently inhaled the lingering scent of leather and sweat from the wolfskin cloak, and an indescribable sense of security and relaxation washed over her.
In Highgarden, she grew up in the ultimate aristocratic upbringing, was highly regarded by her grandmother, and was also a bargaining chip for marriage alliances with other countries.
After becoming queen, although she had prepared herself to spend the rest of her life alone, Renly's brutal behavior shattered her last remaining illusions.
It was like falling into an abyss.
Just when she was about to fall to her death, the appearance of this man was like a ray of light, warming her body and soul and giving her a sense of freedom and passion she had never experienced before.
At that moment, Margaret felt a strong hand gently stroking her back, and a voice came from above her head.
"Ranley is such a lucky bastard."
“Lucky?” Margaret couldn’t help but smile bitterly as she crawled out of the wolf skin and buried her pretty face in Rahalo’s neck. “In his eyes, I’m just a bargaining chip.”
"Then he's a complete waste of talent and utterly blind," Rahalo scoffed. "What kind of man could be so indifferent to a beauty like you? Is he really gay?"
Margaret was silent for a moment, then looked up and gazed into Rahalo's eyes: "Please don't mention him again, okay?"
Rahalo gently brushed his fingers across a small scar on her forehead, changing the subject, "What happened here? Did Bono do this?"
Margaret flinched, turned her face away, and refused to say anything more.
Rahalo frowned and asked, "Was it Renly? Isn't he known as a gentleman? Why did he hit you?"
Margaret gave a bitter smile. "That's just a mask he wears in public. In private, he's violent and easily angered. Sometimes, if I say something wrong and upset him, he'll hit me."
Although Lahalo knew some of the plot from the original story, Margaret's words still surprised him, and a hint of anger rose in his heart.
Margaret continued, "He used to be a couple with my third brother, Loras, but after the Battle of Pentos, they drifted apart, and even with everyone else." She looked up, curious, and asked, "What exactly happened between you two during the Battle of Pentos?"
“Huh?” Rahalo scratched his head. “I remember I shot him from a distance with an arrow, I think it hit the horse’s back, then I chased him and he got on the boat and ran away, that’s all.”
Margaret nodded thoughtfully, tracing circles on Rahalo's chest with her finger: "Whatever happened, that defeat made him more irritable and his temper more and more erratic. Sometimes, I even feel like he hates me, and I don't know what I did wrong."
Rahalo lifted Margaret's chin with his fingertips and said solemnly, "Listen, Margaret, it's all his fault, not yours. You deserve love, you deserve all the good things in life."
Margaret's slender fingers brushed across Rahalo's cheek, her eyes glistening with tears. "In Highgarden, I am a princess; in Stormlands, I am a queen; but here, with you, I am just a woman."
After saying that, she climbed up again, "Take me!"
...
Three days later, on the mountain road near Prince's Pass, Garland led Renly and his Rainbow Guard, along with a thousand cavalry, toward the camp at Laharlo. Steep cliffs lined both sides of the road, and narrow valleys wound their way forward, the column stretching out in a long straight line as it moved through them.
Suddenly, a clanging sound of weapons rang out, and countless Dothraki warriors appeared above the cliff, holding bows and torches, surrounding them, looking down at them from their high vantage point, letting out deafening battle roars, and striking the cliff face with their scimitars.
Lanley's horse was startled, neighing and rearing up. He hurriedly tightened the reins, his face turning deathly pale.
"This, this is a trap!"
The Rainbow Guards quickly surrounded him, Brienne drew her longsword, and the other knights also drew their weapons, nervously looking around and swallowing hard.
"Retreat!" Lanley ordered hastily.
However, just then, a voice came from the cliff: "Hahaha! Pure-hearted Garan!"
Garan looked up and recognized the man who often mocked his naiveté. He was furious and shouted back, "Lazar! You beast! How many children do you have now?"
"Seven! Two more were born after you left!"
Lazar laughed heartily, spurring his horse down the mountain path and arriving before Garan in the blink of an eye. The two gripped each other's forearms tightly, looking as close as brothers.
Renly and his guards stared in disbelief at the sight, finding it hard to believe that Garan and the Dothraki were so close.
"Welcome home, pure-hearted knight!" Lazar laughed heartily, completely ignoring the presence of Renly and the others. "My blood has been waiting for a long time!"
Lazar then glanced sideways at Renly, "Your soldiers must stay here; only a few of you may go in."
"Impossible!" Renly exclaimed. "My soldiers must stay with me!"
Lazar sneered, "Coward, then you shouldn't go in either. Just wait outside!"
Garland quickly assured Renly, "Your Majesty, with me here, Rahalokao will not harm you."
Actually, he was a little hesitant to say these words. After all, Rahalo was unpredictable. He was trustworthy to his own people, but not necessarily to outsiders. He even dared to kill an envoy, so he wasn't entirely sure.
But since we're already here, wouldn't it be embarrassing to wait outside?
After much hesitation, under the gaze of everyone, Lanli finally gritted his teeth and said, "If you want me to go in, you must first tell me whether my queen is safe and sound!"
Lazar gave a meaningful smile: "Of course she's safe and sound! My Bloodline has taken absolutely perfect care of her!"
Renly had no time to ponder the deeper meaning of his words. All of Westeros knew that Rahallo dared to enter Highgarden with only ten men, and if he retreated, he would only lose face in front of everyone.
He reluctantly nodded, ordering the main force to remain in place, while he continued forward with only the Rainbow Guards and a few knights, following Garan and Lazar.
The group moved slowly through the crowd. The Dothraki warriors on both sides were tall and strong, with skin tanned to a healthy wheat color by the blazing sun, bulging muscles, long braids hanging down their backs, and fierce, bloodthirsty eyes.
Some people gripped the hilts of their knives, as if they were about to draw their scimitars and slash at him at any moment, while others spat on the ground with disdain.
“Your Majesty!” Goode squeezed in front of Renly and lowered his voice, “Given the relationship between Garan and the Dothraki, and the Targaryens backing Rahalo, if the Reach is playing both sides, supporting us at the same time while secretly supporting Rahalo through Garan, then we are in danger.”
"So what do you mean?" Lanli asked, frowning.
“If we can sow discord between them,” a sinister glint flashed in Goode’s eyes, “and completely break ties between the Dothraki and Highgarden, then House Tyrell will stand by your side without reservation.”
Brienne walked to the side, her ears twitching, and a hint of disgust flashed in her eyes as she looked at Goode.
