Dragon Clan: Avoid the College Entrance Examination to Slay the Dragon
Chapter 73 Japan's Hybrids
Chapter 73 Japan's Hybrids
At nine o'clock in the morning, Gu Yi stood in front of the iron window on the second floor of the motel. The glass surface was covered with years of oil film, which stained the slum street scene outside the window with a murky dark yellow.
On the street corner, several young Black men leaned against a faded fire hydrant, their gold chains gleaming blindingly in the morning light. Whenever a customer approached, they would stand up to greet them. Once the price was agreed upon and the money was exchanged, a boy in a baseball cap would dart out from under the eaves in the distance, handing the buyer a bag of goods.
"Five-O!"
A sharp alarm suddenly blared. The entire street instantly erupted in chaos as a large crowd began shouting warnings in unison. The drug addicts vanished into the back alleys in an instant, and the drug dealers stuffed cash into their henchmen's hands, urging them to hurry up and run. By the time the police cars slowly drove over the potholed asphalt road, all the crimes had already disappeared.
Gu Yi watched the police car's taillights disappear at the end of the street, and the once quiet street erupted in even more excitement than before. He smirked, "Can't the Enforcement Bureau arrange for us to stay in a better neighborhood?"
“The Executive Bureau has only six safe houses in Baltimore, and this one at least has a private bathroom.” Caesar walked to the window.
Gu Yi watched as the drug dealers, now active again, counted their money. "Why can't we stay in a hotel?"
"The situation is still unstable, and I see that the Executive Bureau is very resistant to us living in a densely populated area. But it doesn't matter, they will arrange for us to return to the academy soon."
Fingel suddenly burst out from the stairwell, "So, are we taking a plane or a train?"
"The plane," Caesar glanced at him. "I've arranged everything."
Gu Yi turned around and chuckled, "Although our group doesn't have a group leader, I feel like you're becoming more and more like one."
"Really?" Caesar raised an eyebrow. "Haven't we always made decisions democratically?"
"That's a different matter. You have a talent for making people naturally follow your lead."
A faint smile appeared on Caesar's lips as his gaze lingered on the two faces for a moment: "Let's get down to business first."
Gu Yi glanced at the spring bed in the room; the human-shaped bulge under the dark gray sheets remained motionless: "Is Senior Brother still not awake?"
"I'm awake." Chu Zihang suddenly opened his eyes.
Fingel, carrying three folding chairs, burst through the half-closed door. "Hey, you with facial paralysis, the doctor told you to stay a little longer. Why did you have to sneak out early?" As he spoke, his fingers deftly pried open the chair supports. "Look at all these bandages. Anyone who didn't know better would think you had a broken leg."
Chu Zihang looked down at the gauze on his right leg. "No need, I'm almost healed."
Caesar rolled his eyes upon hearing this: "Alright, let's begin."
Gu Yi sank into his chair, casually crossing his right leg over his left knee: "What did those Japanese who attacked Caesar say? Didn't Norma contact the Japanese branch?"
Fingel suddenly raised the front leg of his chair, leaning back dangerously: "The Japanese branch sent a twelve-page document, the key point of which is just one sentence: Upon investigation, the person involved is not a registration specialist of this branch, but a fugitive suspect from a mixed-race society."
Gu Yi's gaze swept over the three of them in turn: "Do you believe it?"
Caesar leaned against the iron bars of the window, arms crossed, and said, "I don't know."
"Although the Japanese branch is basically semi-independent, directly attacking a specialist at headquarters? That's a bit too much, isn't it? I don't think it's necessary."
Gu Yi looked at Chu Zihang, who simply shook his head in silence.
Caesar suddenly pulled a black card from the inside pocket of his trench coat; the metallic card reflected a cold light in the morning glow. "That woman in charge gave me this."
Three pairs of eyes instantly focused. The card's surface was so shiny it reflected a mirror, yet only the two Chinese characters "Sakurai" stood out starkly, as if carved with a knife and axe. Fingel darted over like a hunting dog, snatched the card, and examined it closely in the sunlight: "What was this forged from? Wait... no hidden patterns? No micro-engraving? Not even any contact information?"
"It's probably just used to introduce the surname." Chu Zihang took the business card.
Gu Yi sighed. "So that's all the clues?" "I asked Norma. Sakurai is one of the eight most prominent mixed-race families in Japan. Their main businesses cover commercial activities and the gambling industry. They're a very wealthy family," Caesar said.
Fingel slapped his thigh. "Case solved! These bastards are plotting a rebellion! If you ask me, we should send a large army over right now to wipe them out!"
"It's too early to say anything now. Let's wait for their explanation later." Caesar took the business card from Chu Zihang.
Fingel suddenly pulled the folding chair forward, the metal legs scraping the ground with a screeching sound. "I feel like something's off about this Japanese branch! Think about that long-legged girl, doesn't she look Japanese too? You know, the one with the really big breasts and really long legs!"
Gu Yi's pupils contracted slightly. "Indeed, she does resemble a Japanese person."
"Her swordsmanship is very impressive," Caesar added.
Chu Zihang suddenly turned to Fingel, "You said there was another woman."
“Yes, yes, that girl in overalls is also a beauty.” Fingel gestured. “Although it’s a bit dark, her features are definitely East Asian. But she doesn’t look Japanese, more like Chinese.”
Gu Yi let out a short laugh: "You're already considered sharp-eyed among foreigners. I think many Europeans and Americans can't even tell the difference between the three East Asian countries."
“Of course!” Fingel said proudly. “Based on my years of experience observing and studying materials, China, Japan and South Korea may seem similar, but upon closer examination there are still differences.”
"What are the study materials?" Chu Zihang asked Fingel.
Fingel snorted and said, "Junior brother, you're still too young..."
"Has the topic gone off track?" Caesar interrupted helplessly.
Gu Yi suddenly straightened up, realizing what was going on. "It really is biased. So, which faction do these two women represent?"
Caesar shook his head. "We know nothing about them. The Enforcement Bureau searched the area all night but found nothing."
Fingel sighed deeply and slumped into his chair. "Ugh, this feeling of being outmaneuvered is fucking awful."
The room fell silent instantly.
"Hey!" Fingel sensed the tense atmosphere, so he clapped his hands, making a dull thud on the mottled wall. "Do you guys know what the rating for this mission is?"
Seeing the three shake their heads, he grinned and said, "Rank A! And because of the third generation that appeared last, I bet it can be upgraded to Rank S!"
Gu Yi's hand, which was supporting his chin, suddenly stopped: "So you're graduating?"
"Absolutely!" Fingel slapped his knee. "I'm the first F-rank in history to complete an S-rank mission! Let's see what excuse that old bastard Schneider has left to stop me!"
Gu Yi chuckled and turned to Caesar, asking, "How are Vivian and the others?"
“Nono said they need to stay another day. The Executive Bureau still needs their help with the cleanup,” Caesar replied.
"Alright." Gu Yi propped himself up on his knees and got up. "I stayed up all night, I'm going to catch up on some sleep."
Caesar nodded. "Yes, everyone is tired. Let's all take a rest."
Gu Yi suddenly stopped as he walked towards the inner room, turned back to look at Chu Zihang, and said, "Senior brother, you'd better lie down too."
