Hogwarts: Don't call me Wandmaker

Chapter 468 The Peeping Glass in the Office

Chapter 468 The Peeping Glass in the Office

Xilun's speculation is not without reason.

First, Luna always describes certain emotions in a way that only she can understand.

For example, the harassing horsefly, in the eyes of a normal wizard like Hermione, is just some baseless nonsense said by a crazy girl from a family that runs a crazy magazine at school.

But Siren felt it was more like a metaphor for trouble.

Luna may have a special talent for seeing a person's emotions, but being so young, she doesn't understand what worries are, so she describes them as a special kind of little bug.

Such "insects" that only she could see would naturally not be recorded in books.

At the same time, the curved-horned beast she mentioned and the ghostly light she just saw may also have other meanings.

Siren remembered his grandfather, Garrick Ollivander, saying that because the wands he made contained wizards' hair, when the recipient was genuinely satisfied with the wand, that emotional fluctuation would be magically fed back to him, the maker.

And what Luna just said... Ghostly lights flew in from all directions, giving her lit lanterns.

Could those 'lit lanterns' be the magic that's being fed back?

Xiren turned around, but Luna had already run far away, and at the same time Professor Sprout came out of the greenhouse.

“Ah, come with me, we’re going to the second greenhouse today,” she said, leading everyone to another greenhouse next door.

Professor Sprout looked very happy, with a smile on his face, and even walked with a lighter step.

Hermione guessed it was because of the new group of Moonfoxes in the Forbidden Forest, since Moonfox dung was better fertilizer than dragon dung, which was exactly what Professor Sprout needed.

However, Professor Sprout didn't seem to be planning to let his impetuous students get their hands on such good stuff.

When the herbalism class ended, they still smelled of dragon droppings as they lined up and returned to the castle.

Their task today is to clear away the excess branches of the wrestling vine, which, judging from its name, is definitely not a quiet plant.

The group was exhausted and didn't have time to take their schoolbags to the Gryffindor Tower before rushing off to take a shower and have dinner.

After dinner, the fifth-grade students finally had some time to themselves.

Although they still have a ton of homework to do, at least they can decide when to start writing. If all else fails, pulling an all-nighter isn't such a bad option.

If all else fails, you can just go to the school hospital tomorrow morning and ask Madam Pomfrey for a potion of lucidity. After drinking it, you'll be energetic all day again. That's what many people do.

However, this method cannot be used indefinitely. It is said that some people drank the sobering potion for seven days and then slept for a month.

Although it's unclear whether this claim is true or false, Madam Pomfrey would not give a student two potions of clarity in a row, and the person who receives the potion must drink it on the spot and is not allowed to take it away.

So after dinner, Celen made an excuse that he wanted to get a few more bottles of sobering potion and went to the Defense Against the Dark Arts office.

“It’s not that I don’t want to help you, Siren, but do you think I’m not afraid of Madam Pomfrey?”

Sirius handed Sirius a bottle of butterbeer and said, "She was already at the school hospital when we were in school. As a regular there, I can't even remember how many times she yelled at me. Back then, Ms. Pomfrey was even more terrifying than Professor McGonagall." As he spoke, Sirius seemed to recall some horrible memory and couldn't help but shudder.

"You just said you were going to stay up all night grading papers?" Siren said, wandering aimlessly around the office. "You're a professor, you can surely bring a few more potions, right?"

"Me, grading homework all night?" Sirius pointed to himself, looking incredulous.

Do you believe that?

"I don't believe it, but it's enough that Mrs. Pomfrey believes it."

"Okay, fine, I can give it a try, but I can't guarantee it will work." Sirius sighed.

"But I'm curious, why do you need so many sobering potions? Do you guys really have so much homework that you can't finish it all?"

“I still need to make wands,” Siron said. “New orders are coming in every day, and last week’s and today’s orders are piling up. Professor McGonagall won’t help me apply for a Time-Turner because of this, so I’ll have to make do with the Lucidity Potion.”

“But this isn’t a long-term solution,” Sirius said. “After all, even I can only get two or three bottles from Madam Pomfrey at most.”

“That’s enough. Let’s finish the current orders first, and then I’ll think of something else,” Xiren said. He stopped in front of a table and looked at something that looked like a spinning top, quietly turning inside a glass case.

"Oh, is this a spyglass?" Siren asked. "It looks like a high-end one."

“Ah, yes, it was Alastor’s welcome gift to me. It makes a shrill sound if anyone tries to harm me,” Sirius casually remarked. “But I think it’s completely unnecessary. Alastor is making a mountain out of a molehill.”

“His methods might work elsewhere, but this is Hogwarts, the safest place in all of Britain. Surely no one will come here and cast a killing curse on me.”

“That’s hard to say, especially since you’re a Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, a position with quite a few examples,” Siron said, glancing at the spyglass again, his heart pounding faster than usual.

Fortunately, because he couldn't be sure if Sirius was real or not, he didn't come with any ulterior motives and just wanted to chat.

Otherwise... he might just walk into this office and the spy camera will suddenly scream, that would be interesting.

Silen wouldn't doubt whether the device was broken, because Alastor Moody wouldn't give someone a broken endoscope. It was definitely working, and very sensitive.

Sirius hadn't heard a word Sirius had said. He was trying to control his emotions, not to think about anything related to Sirius, and to clear his mind as much as possible.

He possesses the skill of Occlumency, so doing this wouldn't be particularly difficult for him.

Even so, Xiren didn't want to stay there any longer. After chatting for a few more minutes, he excused himself to go back and make a wand and hurriedly left the office.

Instead of returning to the Gryffindor Tower, Celen went directly to the Transfiguration office and told Professor McGonagall that there was a spyglass in Sirius's office.

Because of what she had said before, Professor McGonagall was more or less wary of Sirius. Sirius wasn't sure if this wariness could be considered 'malicious'.

It's better to remind her first.
