Hogwarts: Don't call me Wandmaker
Chapter 462 The Marauder’s Map
Chapter 462 The Marauder’s Map
Just as Hermione suspected, Sirius had indeed been careless and the dark magic book had accidentally slipped into the book.
“I really should find some time to throw all this junk away,” Sirius said, lighting the fireplace with his wand and tossing the dark magic book inside.
The originally orange-red flames instantly turned into an eerie purple, as if they had come to life, and suddenly leaped out of the fireplace.
"Oh, these damn things, they're so troublesome!" Sirius cursed, waving his wand again to drive all the purple flames back.
It took about half an hour for the book to burn completely, and the flames in the fireplace returned to their original color.
Sirius was exhausted. He sat back down at the table, panting, and drank the last bit of whiskey in his glass.
"Shouldn't you guys go have lunch?" He glanced at the time and reminded them.
Xiren then realized that it was almost noon, and in five minutes it would be lunchtime at Hogwarts.
"Aren't you going?" Harry asked. "We can go together."
“I’ll have to wait a little longer,” Sirius said. “Hagrid asked me to make a trap to ward off imps. I’ve finished it, but some parts still need a little tweaking.”
“Alright then,” Harry said. “Do you need my help?”
“It’s okay, I can handle it,” Sirius said.
Harry nodded, then left the Defense Against the Dark Arts office with the others and returned to the Great Hall on the first floor.
The place was already packed with people, chatting and having a great time.
Harry was still discussing the mysterious map with Ron.
“I think I’ve seen it somewhere before…” he said. “Maybe I caught a glimpse of it somewhere, or maybe someone mentioned it and I have a vague memory of it.”
"Could it be that you've misremembered?" Ron asked in a low voice.
“I… I’m not sure either.” Harry frowned. “If only there were a spell that could examine memories in detail.”
“Surely such magic exists,” Siren said. “It’s an advanced technique of the Memory Charm that can extract a memory from your head and put it into a specific container, so you can watch what happened back then like a movie.”
"Movies...what are those?" Ron asked curiously.
“No, it’s a form of entertainment for Muggles,” Hermione said. “It usually involves a projector and a large screen, and the characters on it move.”
"Ah, I know!" Ron exclaimed. "The people inside move, just like the Chocolate Frog picture cards, right?"
“No, it’s a different kind…” Hermione patiently explained the difference between the movie and the Chocolate Frog cards to Ron.
On the other side, Harry was deep in thought.
“Extracting memories… I remember now, Sirius said that Dumbledore proved his innocence to Wizengamor through his memories. Is this what you’re talking about?”
“That’s right, that thing is called the Pensieve.” Celen nodded. “And there’s one in the principal’s office.”
“Well, what you said is as good as nothing,” Harry sighed.
The Pensieve... This thing sounds very precious, how could the principal possibly lend it to him to play a "treasure hunt"?
The group sat down at the long table.
Lunch was plentiful, with whole fried chickens that were golden and crispy, grilled steaks that were still sizzling with oil, and boiled potatoes piled up like a small mountain.
Since they had just eaten breakfast not long ago, they weren't particularly hungry, and only picked out a few things that interested them.
Harry took a bite of the fried chicken leg and suddenly looked up at Siron.
“I remember now, Xilun, don’t you also have a map, the kind that shows names? I saw you look at it before.”
“Ah, I do have a map of Hogwarts.” Celen sprinkled some black pepper on his steak and said, “But I didn’t find it; it belonged to Fred and George. It’s not the same thing Sirius said.”
"Hey, I just heard someone calling our names."
Just then, the Weasley brothers walked in from outside.
"Is there anything we can do for you?" "Do you need anything to buy..."
"Or sell something..."
Which course do you find most stressful?
“We can solve all of these.”
The two of them, one on the left and one on the right, finished reciting a long string of advertisements.
“I’m sorry to disappoint you, neither of them are true,” Celen said with a smile. “I just mentioned that you once gave me a map of Hogwarts.”
"You mean that one!" Fred's eyes lit up.
"Yes, he's telling the truth."
“We are our witnesses.”
"That's a good thing."
Seeing that there was no business, the two exchanged a few words and then left.
"Do you want to take a look?" Xiren asked. "It's in the dorm, but I forgot where I put it. I need to look for it carefully."
“Oh, it’s alright, no need.” Harry shook his head.
Since it was given by Fred and George, it shouldn't have anything to do with Sirius.
He knew that Fred and George dreamed of opening a joke shop and made many strange magical items; perhaps that map was their masterpiece.
But if that's the case, where should he begin his search?
Just when Harry was at his wit's end, someone else arrived.
It was Angelina Johnson who came to inform Harry to go to the Quidditch pitch at 2 p.m. to choose a new goalkeeper.
"I almost forgot, we're selecting new team members today!" Harry subconsciously sped up his eating.
"Seriously, everything is crammed together, I feel like a working peephole."
“That’s nothing,” Hermione whispered.
She was even busier in third grade than she is now; she took all the courses and had to use a time-shifter to finish them all.
After lunch, Harry hurriedly returned to the common room, changed into his Quidditch uniform, grabbed his Firebolt, and then rushed off with Angelina and the other team members.
Sylvanas managed to steal a moment from her busy schedule to play two games of wizard chess with Ron, after which Hermione would rush Ron to do his homework.
"Don't think you can copy my homework just because you dragged it out until the last minute and didn't finish. No way," Hermione said calmly. "Also, just so you know, the next assignment is Potions class."
Seeing that his little trick had been exposed, Ron could only mutter as he put away the wizard chess set.
Xilun returned to his dormitory.
He locked the door, pulled a crumpled piece of parchment from a crevice at the very bottom of the suitcase, and gently tapped his wand on it.
"I solemnly swear that I will do no evil."
The black ink marks spread out like a spider web, and the originally blank parchment quickly turned into a complete map of Hogwarts.
On the map, countless tiny footprints are flashing incessantly, each accompanied by its own name.
Siren fixed his gaze on the third floor, where the Defense Against the Dark Arts office was located.
There was only one footprint there.
Sirius Black
