Hogwarts: Don't call me Wandmaker
Chapter 459 Conflict Between Professors
Chapter 459 Conflict Between Professors
Dumbledore seemed to have encountered a real emergency this time, and for several days afterward, Sirius did not see him at the school.
On the weekend, fifth-grade students, who had been tormented by heavy schoolwork for a long time, were finally able to catch their breath and sleep a little longer. Many of them vowed last night to sleep until noon before getting up.
And that's exactly what they did.
When Xilun arrived at the common room in the morning, it was almost entirely filled with students from other grades.
"How's OWL this year?" Fred asked with a gloating look.
"You know perfectly well what I'm asking." Xilun yawned. After so many days of school, he had only managed to make two wands without slacking off at all, which already spoke volumes.
“I thought you were going to sleep until noon too,” George said as he walked over. “Most students choose to spend their first weekend of fifth grade this way.”
"This is a Hogwarts tradition."
“Just like how Defense Against the Dark Arts professors can only teach for one year…” George paused here, “Of course, I really hope Sirius can break that tradition; he’s simply the best professor we’ve ever had.”
“The best professor in the whole castle,” Fred added with a serious expression, “why didn’t he escape sooner?”
“Maybe we weren’t prepared,” Xiren said, glancing at the time; it was already 9:30.
"If I go to the auditorium now, will I still be able to get breakfast?"
“Sure.” Fred nodded. “It’s the weekend, no classes today. Even if you go there a minute before lunch, the house-elves in the kitchen will enthusiastically serve you a hearty breakfast.”
“That’s good,” Siren said, then left the common room through the passage behind the portrait of the fat lady.
Although it was quite late, when Xilun arrived at the Great Hall, there were still a few people at each of the college's long tables.
After Xilun found a seat, a steaming breakfast was immediately placed in front of him.
A sandwich, fried egg, boiled potatoes, fried sausage, and a pot of pumpkin juice. A standard breakfast, not particularly lavish, but still quite good.
Just as Siron finished his first sandwich, Harry, Hermione, and Ron walked in through the door.
“We asked Fred, and he said you should be in the Great Hall.” Harry sat down, and a breakfast was placed in front of him as well.
“You always need to eat something,” Celen said. “But I remember you guys said last night you were going to sleep until noon? Why are you up so early?”
"Because we're going to find Sirius." Ron yawned widely and rubbed his eyes vigorously.
“We’ve wanted to go for a long time, but we just haven’t been able to find the time,” Harry said.
“It’s all Hermione’s fault,” Ron muttered. “If she had let us copy her homework, we wouldn’t have to stay in the common room until midnight every day.”
“Oh yeah, when it’s time for the OWL exam, can I take it for you guys too?” Hermione glanced at Ron.
"Besides, those assignments aren't actually that difficult. If you could concentrate and not keep fiddling with those chess pieces, you wouldn't have to stay up so late!"
Seeing that the two were about to start arguing, Harry quickly changed the subject, saying, "It's a rare day off, and we're planning to visit Sirius. Would you like to come with us?"
“No problem, I’ll go with you. I haven’t seen Sirius in a long time either.” Sirius thought for a moment, then nodded in agreement. The group ate breakfast as quickly as possible and then went to the stairs on the other side of the foyer.
Sirius's office, like the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, is on the third floor.
While waiting for the stairs to turn, they also ran into Colin Crevey, who had just returned from outside.
"How are you, Harry!" Colin greeted him warmly. He was one of Harry's most ardent supporters and had been chasing after Harry to take pictures since he first enrolled, much to Harry's annoyance.
Although he's much better now, he still jumps up excitedly every time he sees Harry.
The stairs hadn't arrived yet, and Harry couldn't avoid them, so he had no choice but to bite the bullet and chat with him for a while.
“You probably already know, Professor Black’s heroic deeds. He’s simply the bravest professor I’ve ever met,” Colin said, his face gradually turning red, whether from what he was saying or because he was talking to Harry.
“Wait, what heroic deeds did you say?” Harry frowned and pressed, “Sirius… I mean, what did Professor Black do?”
"You didn't know?" Colin asked in surprise.
Harry shook his head. Lately, his mind was filled with homework, papers, and dreams, and he hadn't paid any attention to what was happening at school.
"It was yesterday, when Professor Black and Snape almost got into a fight." Seeing that Harry didn't know, Colin became even more excited and said quickly.
"What did you say? Sirius and Snape almost got into a fight?" Hermione was startled. "But...they're both professors..."
“Snape started the trouble first, because Professor Black always deducts points from Slytherins, which makes him very unhappy,” Colin said. “Yesterday, Professor Black wanted to put Malfoy in solitary confinement again, and that’s when the conflict started.”
"Aha." Ron, who had been drowsy, suddenly laughed and became much more energetic. "It should have been done a long time ago. Let Slytherin taste what it's like to be favored."
Harry didn't say anything, but he couldn't help but chuckle.
Snape was arguably the most biased professor at Hogwarts. Every time he taught Potions class, Snape would find various reasons to deduct points from Gryffindor's grades.
From first grade until now, he has lost at least several hundred points.
Furthermore, whenever they clashed with Slytherin students, Snape would punish them indiscriminately.
I never expected Sirius to avenge him so quickly...
“This is nothing to be proud of, Ron!” Hermione said irritably, looking at Colin again. “And then, they didn’t actually fight, did they?”
“Of course not, because Professor McGonagall arrived quickly.” Colin shrugged and said, “She separated the two of them, severely reprimanded them for tarnishing the professor’s image, and lifted Malfoy’s confinement. That was the end of it… Oh, the stairs are turning. Where are you going?”
Harry didn't tell Colin and the others that they were going to the Defense Against the Dark Arts office; he only said they were going to the trophy room to see the previous Quidditch trophies.
The prize display room is also on the third floor, where they keep the Quidditch trophies they won at the end of the school year, including the House Cup.
Therefore, their excuse did not arouse suspicion from Colin and the others.
