Hogwarts: Don't call me Wandmaker

Chapter 439 Differential Treatment

Chapter 439 Differential Treatment
For a house-elf, preparing a hearty breakfast is no trouble at all. Less than twenty minutes later, Kreacher returned to tell them that breakfast was ready.

Sirius and Sirius entered the kitchen, and as soon as they stepped inside, they both stopped.

"Is this really a restaurant?" Sirius paused, seemingly questioning his own memory.

In his memory, this place should be as dark as the entrance hall above, with rough stone walls all around, like a deep cave.

When he was a child, he always felt like he was being subjected to some kind of evil black magic ritual whenever he ate with his family.

But now all those images have disappeared. Warm sunlight streams in through the windows in the wall, casting dappled shadows on the wall... Sirius discovers for the first time that the stones are not black, but bluish-gray, with a faint golden sheen on their surfaces in the sunlight.

Also because of the sunlight, the long wooden table in the middle didn't look so oppressive anymore, and the table was filled with all kinds of food... freshly baked buttered bread, tomato and vegetable salad soaked in olive oil, roast chicken with an irresistible aroma, and sizzling grilled steak.

Sirius Black was surprised to find a honey cake and a woven basket full of fruit in his house.

Is this really his home... Blake's old house?

Did you run into some kind of door key in the middle?

He instinctively stepped back out. The deep corridor outside looked menacing and terrifying in the darkness, as if something strange might jump out at any moment... That's right, this is the old Blake mansion he remembered.

Unlike Sirius, Sirius didn't find anything amiss at all. He had eaten here the last time he was here, and nothing had changed.

He remembered Kreacher telling him that because the kitchen and dining room were in the basement, the windows were enchanted, and what he was seeing was actually a window from a room on the second floor.

"What a feast!" Celen's eyes lit up... Finally, she wouldn't have to eat Old Tom's garlicky breakfast anymore.

“Thank you for your compliment, sir,” Kreacher said respectfully. “Time is short. If you would like to stay for dinner, I will have plenty of time to roast a warthog for you. It is the mistress’s favorite dish, and she often asks me to cook it to entertain distinguished guests.”

"That thing smells bloody and is awful." Just then, Sirius Black walked in from the doorway and scoffed at the roasted warthog that Kreacher was talking about.

"A whole warthog, roasted whole without gutting or removing the fur... I really don't understand why they like to eat that kind of thing, saying it's a delicacy only purebreds deserve..."

Listening to Sirius's description, Sirius lost interest in Kreacher's specialty dish.

However, he believes that pure-blood wizards should not eat that stuff. He is not sure about other countries, but British pure-blood wizards eat more toast and baked chickpeas with tomatoes.

“Never mind, I probably won’t be staying overnight,” Xiren said. “This ordinary food is fine.”

When he heard that Sirius said he wouldn't be staying overnight, Kreacher's face showed disappointment, and he gave Sirius a disdainful look.

Although it didn't say anything, Sirius Black felt its disdain very clearly.

"Get out of here, Kreacher, don't disturb our meal." He pointed rudely to the door.

"Ah, how dare this good-for-nothing young master tell Kreacher to get lost?" Kreacher bowed respectfully to Sirius, then muttered as he walked towards the door. "Mistress, you're right, Sirius is a complete ingrate..."

Sirius's forehead veins throbbed; in fact, they hadn't subsided since he returned.

"Actually, I've always wanted to get rid of it, but Dumbledore thought it wasn't a good idea." Sirius grabbed a soft, buttered bread and took a big bite.

The sweet aroma of butter and flour instantly stunned him. "Oh, damn it, it can actually make bread!" Sirius exclaimed in exasperation.

“What’s so strange about that?” Siren shrugged, spreading jam on a slice of bread. “Any house-elves can bake bread.”

At the same time, he also noticed something Sirius had just said... Dumbledore didn't want him to drive Kreacher away.

So he's already planning to reboot the Order of the Phoenix? The reason he kept Kreacher around is because it knows too many secrets here, and they could easily be leaked.

“You don’t know,” Sirius continued, “when I first came back, the bread Kreacher made for me was harder than a brick; I had to use a saw to cut it!”

“Maybe…it thinks you need to sharpen your teeth?” Siren asked tentatively.

Sirius's Animagus was a big black dog, and as is well known, dogs generally like to eat hard things to gnaw on.

“I’ve had enough of that in Azkaban,” Sirius said irritably.

While eating, he asked a lot of questions about Harry, which Siren felt was the main reason he had invited her to visit.

But he didn't actually know much about Harry, only that the Dursleys didn't really care about him anymore... except that he couldn't mention any words related to magic.

This was a matter of principle for the Dursleys, and even if Sirius threatened them, it wouldn't be acceptable.

After breakfast, Sirius took Helen to explore other places and told him that he could take whatever he liked, including books in the library or anything else, as compensation for breaking his promise.

But Xilun didn't want it.

The Black family's collection is mostly related to black magic, and the more valuable pieces have long been given away.

Mrs. Black knew very well that everything here would be inherited by Sirius after her death, so she left nothing of value except the house, even though Sirius was still in Azkaban at the time.

However, seeing Sirius's apologetic expression, Sirius still casually picked out a few silver items.

He prepared to leave around noon.

There are still many wands waiting for him to make in the shop. He wants to finish all the orders as soon as possible so that he won't have to keep getting letters from people urging him to finish.

Number Twelve Grimoire Square is far from Diagon Alley and is not connected to the Floo Network. Sirius Black was brought there by Apparition, and Sirius plans to send him back in the same way.

“I think you could try talking to Kreacher; you might get some interesting insights.” On the way to the phone booth, Celen thought of the old house-elf again.

He wanted to remind Sirius about Regulus, but just then, Mr. Weasley came out of the phone booth across the street.

"Sirius, you're here right now!" He immediately ran over and grabbed Sirius's arm. "Come with me, Mad-Eye has been attacked!"
