Hogwarts: Don't call me Wandmaker
Chapter 41 Are You Ready to Play Baseball?
Chapter 41 Are You Ready to Play Baseball?
Harry was getting a little restless.
If the wand is not in Ciron's hands, what should Ron do for Christmas? It seems that it is too late to prepare anything else now.
"Can you make another one?" Harry asked cautiously.
"Of course you can, and the materials are readily available," Siren said, "but are you sure? The wand isn't parchment, so the wand you make might not be suitable for Ron."
"What should I do..."
"Don't worry, we can give it a try. The day after tomorrow is Christmas, and my grandfather shouldn't go too far." Xi Lun glanced out the window.
"If all goes well, we should be able to catch up." He stood up. "Let's go to the Owlery and see if there are any stronger messengers."
"Use Hedwig," said Harry.
"what?"
"My owl, Hedwig," said Harry. "It's a snowy owl!"
"Oh, that's perfect." Xi Lun patted his forehead.
Harry already has an owl, how could he forget this? Besides, a snowy owl is a pet that costs twenty Galleons, which is the most expensive one in the pet store. Naturally, its flying speed and endurance are much better than those of ordinary owls.
Xi Lun wrote a letter and went to the owl shed with Harry to find the beautiful snowy owl.
It's worthy of being a twenty-Gallon variety. It shines like a searchlight in the owlery, making it easy to spot.
After seeing Harry, Hedwig flew over and pecked his fingers intimately, which made Xi Lun's eyes jealous.
He thought again of his own pet Tom, who was always hanging around and nowhere to be seen, and his mind was full of how to eat his colleague's pet.
Bah, he shouldn't have been so greedy in the first place.
……
Xi Lun and Harry arrived at the auditorium ten minutes after dinner started. Although it was a bit late, at least they didn't have to go hungry.
Ron felt very strange. Harry had said he had something to do, so why did he come back with Siren?
During the meal, he kept asking Harry in a roundabout way, wanting to know what Harry had been doing, but he never got an answer.
Harry didn't respond at all and just pretended not to understand. He had no other choice but to rack his brains to make up an excuse about doing homework to get away with it.
Ron still looked unconvinced, but he didn't ask any further questions.
Afterwards, the two of them gathered together with Hermione and discussed other things in whispers.
Xi Lun was sitting next to them, and even though he had no intention of eavesdropping, he vaguely heard what was said.
To put it simply, Hermione wants Ron and Harry to go to the library during the holidays to look for a man named Nicolas Flamel.
But letting Harry and Ron go to the library during the holidays... I can only say that Hermione had a good idea.
To welcome the upcoming holidays, Gryffindor students held a small celebration in the common room.
The food was brought by the Weasley brothers from the school kitchen. There were pies, a whole roast chicken, juicy steaks, pumpkin juice, pea biscuits... It was much more sumptuous than dinner.
And butterbeer from Hogsmeade.
However, only a few people have this thing. To be more precise, Fred and George only brought one bottle for Xiren.
Of course, this was not because the two of them had a better relationship with Xiren. They wanted to know the secret of Xiren's ability to use multiple wands.
It is common knowledge in the wizarding world that a wizard can only use one wand.
Of course, it's not that no one has tried to buy a second wand, and there are quite a few who have, but they will soon find that this so-called second wand is almost useless. The wand that was perfectly fine in the store, after they hold it in their hands, not only will the spell forming speed be slow, but the magic power will also be greatly weakened. Not only will it be useless in combat, but even the simplest cleaning spell will sometimes leave some residue.
This situation will only change if they voluntarily give up their first wand, otherwise it will be a waste of more than a dozen Galleons.
No one knows why this is the case. Even if you go to Ollivander's Wand Shop to ask, you will only get a seemingly plausible answer: "The wand chooses the wizard."
Xi Lun's words in the afternoon almost opened a new magical door for Fred and George.
They wanted to learn so badly that even if they took three in one hand, it would be very tempting.
Xi Lun is not a stingy person. Since he drank their butterbeer, he naturally helped answer questions and solve problems.
So he told Fred and George that it would be easy to do, all they had to do was learn how to make a wand.
Afterwards, the two of them actually went to the library overnight to look for books about wands... but I don't know how long they can hold on.
Early the next morning, the students who were going home for the holidays left the castle and went to the station to catch the train. The Gryffindor common room, which had been crowded and bustling, suddenly became empty.
Xi Lun got up early and was sitting in an armchair by the fireplace, fiddling with a "baseball bat" that was split in half in his hand.
When Harry and Ron came over, Ciron was scribbling on it with a scarlet quill.
"Good morning, Ciarán," Harry greeted, and he and Ron sat down in the armchair next to him.
These usually take the most popular seats, but today they can sit anywhere they want.
Ron found some leftover bread, flatbread or something, from last night, poked it with a toasting fork and set it on the fireplace to toast.
Harry frowned and looked around for something.
"What's wrong with you?" Ron handed him a piece of black bread.
"Do you smell anything?"
"Ah, it seems a little burnt." Ron said a little embarrassedly.
"No, that's not it." Harry shook his head and said after a moment's hesitation, "I seem to smell blood."
"Now that you mention it, I think I smelled it too." Ron raised his head and started looking around.
"No need to look for it, this is it." Xilun said, and showed the two of them the red feather pen in his hand.
"You use blood as ink?" Ron stared, his voice full of disbelief.
"It's not ink, it's...well, you can understand it as some kind of medium." Xilun explained.
"I was just about to ask." Harry looked at Xiren, "Are you planning to play baseball?"
"What's baseball?" Ron asked.
"It's a Muggle sport," Harry explained. "They hit a ball with a stick."
"Basters?" Ron immediately thought of his two older brothers, who used wooden bats to hit the ball during Quidditch games.
"Almost," Harry thought for a moment. "But the stick is much longer, and it doesn't hit a Bludger."
"I don't know, I've never played it," said Harry. "My cousin Dudley bought a baseball bat, but he never played with it, not once. I guess he just liked the bat."
"I've never played baseball either," Siren said. "Actually, this is the wand I'm going to make next."
