Chapter 375 Mad-Eye

It was only then that everyone realized why Professor Flitwick had also come to the classroom.

Siren never expected that Moody would demonstrate the Crucifixion in this way.

Meanwhile, the two on the podium had already made their decision. Professor Flitwick picked up his wand, pointed at Moody, and whispered, "Crunch in the Heart."

His voice was very soft, and it was immediately drowned out by a rough, muffled groan.

Professor Moody suddenly collapsed to the ground, his body curling up uncontrollably, limbs pressed tightly against his body. He rolled on the ground, his body convulsing violently, while he kept uttering heavy cries.

This was the first time anyone had heard Professor Moody make such a sound. Just watching from the sidelines made their hair stand on end and sent chills down their spines.

Neville gripped the table in front of him tightly with both hands, his knuckles becoming taut and pale from the force.

His eyes were wide open, filled with fear.

A few seconds later, Professor Flitwick removed his wand, and Professor Moody finally stopped convulsing.

But in that short time, he was completely soaked in sweat, his gray hair clinging wetly to his forehead.

“Yes, it’s extremely painful.” Professor Moody’s voice became even hoarser. He refused Professor Flitwick’s help and struggled to his feet, supporting himself on the table.

"For wizards who have experienced the Crucifixion Curse... perhaps the next spell will be a release."

I don't know if it was just my imagination, but Professor Moody glanced at Neville when he said that.

"Avada Kedavra!" Before anyone could react, he suddenly pointed his wand at the spider.

A dazzling green light streaked across the sky above the classroom.

This wasn't the first time Siron had come into contact with the Killing Curse, but he had never seen anyone use it so closely before.

To be honest, it wasn't as quiet as he had imagined. When the spell appeared, Xiren seemed to hear a cacophony of noise coming from nowhere, as if hundreds or thousands of people were shouting at him from miles away.

Then the sounds coalesced into an unseen behemoth that suddenly flew across the sky. Then the spider flipped over, lying face up on the table, clearly dead.

The students turned pale and tried their best to keep their mouths shut so they wouldn't shout.

"Oh, Merlin, I shouldn't have agreed to help you with this favor, Dumbledore." The diminutive Professor Flitwick clutched his chest, unable to bear watching any longer.

Now, besides Neville, Harry's expression also began to become blank, staring blankly at the blackboard in front of him.

At the same time, Professors Moody and Flitwick's gazes also fell upon Harry. In their view, of everyone present, Harry was probably the only one who had come into close contact with the Killing Curse.

Moreover, that experience was not pleasant.

"Professor, is casting the Killing Curse really that simple?" A voice suddenly broke the silence of the classroom.

Professor Moody's magic eye darted around. "Mr. Ollivander, do you think it's simple?"

“No.” Siren shook his head. “What I mean is… if there are no restrictions, and you just recite a spell, doesn’t that mean anyone can use the Killing Curse?”
"Perhaps you shouldn't have taught us this. What if two students get into a fight one day and one of them uses this spell in a fit of anger?"

“If that’s the case, you don’t need to worry at all.” Professor Moody waved his hand. “The Killing Curse isn’t that simple; it actually has limitations. “First of all, it requires very powerful magical energy as a foundation. With your current level… you probably couldn’t even kill that spider from before.”

“Secondly, the Killing Curse is not only a combination of incantation and wand, but also requires this…” He pointed to his forehead and then touched the location of his heart.

“Strong emotions are also an essential part; you must truly want to kill the other person for this strong thought to be transformed into a killing spell under the impetus of magic.”

"It is precisely for this reason that once an Auror discovers someone using the Killing Curse, they can arrest them directly without worrying about arresting the wrong person."

"What are you waiting for? Quickly take out your quill pens and write all of this down!"

For the remainder of the class, everyone was busy taking notes, recording the three unforgivable curses. The classroom was quiet; no one spoke, only the scratching of quill pens could be heard.

Until the bell rang...

As soon as the students left the classroom, a torrent of discussions erupted like a burst dam.

The most discussed topic is Professor Moody's act of using the Crucifixion on himself.

"Why would he do that?" Hermione asked, frowning. She still couldn't understand it. If it was just to demonstrate a spell, the spider could do it too... Well, that doesn't quite make sense either, but it's still more suitable than her doing it.

“Perhaps, to make a lasting impression on us?” Siren whispered. “If it were just a spider, it certainly wouldn’t have the same impact on us as the last wizard, right? Especially since this wizard was once a legendary Auror.”

“That does make sense.” Ron nodded slightly. What impressed him most in the last class was the image of Professor Moody rolling on the ground, which far outweighed the Killing Curse.

The feeling was terrifying, beyond words. Just thinking about it made his heart race and his hands and feet go cold.

"Just because of that, he let Professor Flitwick use the Cruciatus Curse on himself?" Harry said. "Isn't he a little... well, not quite right?"

“You mean he’s not mentally sound, right?” Ron said.

Harry nodded.

“Ah, that’s how he is, that’s why people call him Mad-Eye,” Ron said. “My dad often deals with the trouble he gets into. Sometimes it’s just a cat walking by outside, and he’ll think someone’s trying to ambush him and blow up the trash cans on the side of the road.”

Harry stared, speechless with astonishment.

But it must be admitted that this approach is indeed impressive.

Ever since witnessing Professor Moody's reaction to being struck by the Cruciatus Curse up close, everyone has developed an instinctive fear of the Unforgivable Curse.

Even Durmstrangers no longer promote their school's unique Black Magic courses.

The main reason was that they didn't expect Hogwarts to have such a ruthless person who would dare to use the Crucifixion Curse on himself for the sake of teaching.

How can you compare? Even if you put all the professors from their school together, they still can't compare!
However, some people doubt the authenticity of this story, because Professor Moody only did this in one fourth-year class, and in other years... even in fourth-year Slytherin and Ravenclaw classes, he used spiders instead.

However, the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff students didn't know how to explain their suspicions; they couldn't very well ask Professor Moody to perform it again on the spot.
