Hogwarts: Don't call me Wandmaker

Chapter 365 Christmas Ball

Chapter 365 Christmas Ball

Ever since meeting Luna, Xiren has been very curious about what exactly the slug hook is.
He asked Luna the same question during our casual chat earlier.

"It's a cunning creature that likes to fly around and steal other people's things, and it's also invisible, making it very difficult to detect."

Luna said seriously, glancing at Barty Crouch again. "He's got more hooks now. I bet he's lost a lot of stuff."

Xilun raised an eyebrow.

He didn't know if Mr. Barty Crouch had actually lost something, but the man must have a lot on his plate.

Halfway through the dinner, he received a letter and then left in a hurry.

About ten minutes later, another person walked in from outside.

It's Percy Weasley.

"It's a pleasure to see you again," he greeted Xilen in a very formal tone.

“It’s very fortunate… well, I mean Mr. Crouch has been too busy, so I’m here to represent him at the Christmas ball. I’m glad he knows there’s someone trustworthy who can handle some of the chores for him.”

"By the way, congratulations on becoming a champion of Hogwarts."

Silen felt that Percy had become strange lately; he hadn't spoken in such an affected manner before.

Even Fred and George, who were sitting on the far side, couldn't stand it anymore. But before they could say anything, Percy took the seat that Mr. Crouch had previously occupied.

This time, however, Luna didn't stare at him anymore.

“He’s getting uglier and uglier.” Fred poked the steak on his plate a few times.

“It felt like the Minister of Magic was speaking just now,” George said.

"Is he like this at home too?" Xiren asked, turning around.

“I don’t know,” Fred said. “At least not during the holidays.”

“Back then, he was like a diligent employee,” George said.

The two chuckled.

“Let’s change the subject to something more cheerful,” Fred said, pointing to the round table next to Celen. “Do you think that guy is awake or asleep?”

He was referring to Roger Davis, the Ravenclaw Quidditch team captain, who was so engrossed in watching Fleur that he almost shoved his fork up his nose several times.

“I bet he’ll give us a rundown of the flatland Lannski feint in a minute,” George said confidently, “just like Ron did when he first saw the Veela at the Quidditch World Cup.”

“I bet Nat his movements aren’t as standard as Ron’s.” Siren pulled out a coin.

Fred took the nut with a grin.

"We accepted it."

……

Unfortunately, they seemed to underestimate Roger Davis. Until the end of the dinner, he didn't make any big moves, just staring blankly at Fleur.

At this moment, Dumbledore stood up and told the students to stand up as well. Then he waved his wand, and all the surrounding tables and chairs flew to the corners of the walls.

An open space appeared in the middle of the auditorium, and the ground began to move, automatically forming a high platform.

The eccentric sisters took the stage. This most famous duo in the wizarding world had actually been invited to Hogwarts by Dumbledore.

Their hair was long and thick, disheveled, and they wore deliberately tattered black robes. Their appearance immediately drew cheers from below. Not only the Hogwarts students, but also those from Beauxbatons and Durmstrang were waving enthusiastically.

"Siren, the warriors should dance."

At Professor McGonagall's prompting, Sheren stood up and walked into the brightly lit dance floor with Luna... Dumbledore somehow produced several bright orbs of light and placed them directly above the dance floor.

Celen wasn't really good at dancing, since he'd never been exposed to it before. The only things he knew were taught to him by Professor McGonagall before the Christmas ball.

He assumed Luna would be able to do it, and that he only needed to follow her lead. However, when the music started playing, Xiren realized he was wrong.

Luna can't dance either; rather than dancing, her movements are more like spinning in place in a strange posture.

Xiren suddenly remembered that his grandfather Garrick had once said that the great magizoologist Newt Scamander often did things that were hard to understand, such as twisting his shoulders in front of an adult dragon or doing somersaults in front of a young dragon.

The scene was probably similar to what it is now.

Fortunately, although Luna's movements were strange, they matched the piece the eccentric sisters were playing quite well, and with Siren's slight coordination, it wasn't too jarring.

Moreover, at this time, most people's attention was focused on Furong, and not many people were looking at them.

When Fleur danced, she brought out her charm to the fullest, and Roger Davis almost became the envy of all the boys.

Soon, the others also entered the dance floor.

Dumbledore invited Ms. Maxim to dance a waltz, and Sirius was surprised to find that Ms. Maxim's dance steps were truly elegant, and it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that they were the best of the entire performance.

He truly deserves to be called the headmaster of the Beauxbatons School of Magic in France.

In stark contrast to her was Alastor Moody, for whom dancing was a truly daunting challenge.

Professor Sinister, who was paired with him, had to be on his guard to avoid the claw-like wooden prosthetic leg.

Soon, the song ended.

Xiren returned to the rest area by the dance floor, while Luna, still not quite done dancing, remained on the dance floor, oblivious to everyone else, continuing her dance.

Many people around her were watching her, including the eccentric sisters who were playing music at the top of the dance floor. They seemed very interested in Luna's dance and even adjusted the rhythm of the music according to Luna's movements.

Fred and Angelina Johnson were equally oblivious to their surroundings. They danced so wildly that every wave and turn was full of power, forcing those around them to back away, and unknowingly creating a small, private dance floor.

There were plenty of drinks in the rest area, all provided by the school. Xilun sat down and opened a bottle of butterbeer.

After the second song ended, Luna walked over and sat down next to Xiren.

"How are you feeling?" Siren handed her a bottle of butterbeer.

“I like both of these pieces,” Luna said, looking very pleased.

"Shall we continue?" Siren asked. "I've rested enough."

Although he wasn't very good at dancing, since he had invited Luna, he would naturally stay with her until the end of the ball.

“Next time,” Luna said. “I need to hurry up and tell my dad about these two pieces; I’m sure he’ll love them.”

After saying that, Luna skipped away from the auditorium and ran to the owlhouse to mail a letter.
