Hogwarts: Don't call me Wandmaker
Chapter 345 Age Line
Chapter 345 Age Line
It was half an hour later when Siren returned to the Gryffindor common room.
Hearing the noise, Hermione looked up and saw Siren walking in from outside.
"What did you forget to take? Why did you take so long?"
“I ran into Mr. Ludo Bagman, and we chatted for a while,” Siren said. “And what are you doing?”
“Guess what the Triwizard Tournament will be about,” Ron said. “By the way, did you get any information from Ludo Bagman about the Triwizard Tournament?”
“No.” Xiren shook his head. “He won’t tell me.”
“Of course he won’t tell you,” Hermione said matter-of-factly. “After all, the details of the project are strictly confidential, and as the referee, he has to ensure fairness, right?”
Xilun smiled, neither confirming nor denying.
There were five referees in total, but Ludo Bagman and Karkarov were really not fair at all.
Even Ms. Maxim tends to favor students from her own college.
Among the headmasters, only Dumbledore seems to have a similar personality to Professor McGonagall; when deducting points, he treats students from all houses equally.
It's hard to say whether this is a good thing or not.
Since it was everyone's first time seeing the Goblet of Fire, this excitement lasted until late at night, and it wasn't until the early hours of the next day that everyone gradually returned to their beds.
The next day is Saturday.
Generally speaking, most students will get up very late to eat breakfast on this day, especially since everyone chatted until very late yesterday.
But today was different. When Xiren arrived at the Great Hall, it was already about half full. Everyone was sitting there eating bread and carefully examining the Goblet of Fire.
The blue and white flames inside seemed to never go out, but they weren't very warm; even standing next to them wouldn't feel very cozy.
Filch was sweeping the area nearby... well, let's just say he was sweeping; he'd been dawdling in a tiny spot for over ten minutes.
Especially after Xilun entered the hall, he could feel the other party glancing at him from time to time.
“He’s watching you,” Harry whispered. “It’s probably because of what happened last night. He’s worried you’ll put your name in the Goblet of Fire.”
“I guessed so.” Celen took a bite of his ham and egg sandwich. “But this is also a good opportunity.”
"What good opportunity?"
“Distract him,” Celen said, taking a big gulp of pumpkin juice. “Since he’s been keeping an eye on me, other people with ideas have a better chance of getting their names on the board… You can try if you want.”
"no!"
Harry was still hesitating when Hermione immediately stopped him, saying, "I went to the library yesterday and looked through the records of the Triwizard Tournament. Those events were absolutely terrifying. I really wonder why this kind of competition has continued for so many years!"
"You probably don't know why the Triwizard Tournament was discontinued!"
"Why?" Harry asked curiously.
He really didn't know; others only said that the Triwizard Tournament was suddenly discontinued a century ago, but the reason was unclear.
“Because the death toll was just too high.” Hermione said with a serious expression, “In the last Triwizard Tournament, a pheasant-bodied beast went out of control. Not only were the warriors killed or wounded, but it also seriously injured three headmasters. Since then, the Triwizard Tournament has been completely discontinued and hasn’t been held since.”
"I bet none of the three headmasters at the time were named Dumbledore."
Just then, Fred and George entered the Great Hall and overheard Hermione's words.
“Things are different now, Hermione.” George blinked and said with a smile, “Don’t even mention a serpent-bodied beast, even a fire dragon, Headmaster Dumbledore could take it down in the blink of an eye.”
"That's right, and danger is also a characteristic of the Triwizard Tournament."
"We are ready."
“But you’re not old enough,” Hermione said.
The two looked at each other and smiled.
“That was before this morning,” Fred said smugly. “Now we’re old enough.”
“After we drank that stuff,” George said. “What?” Ron asked.
“Of course it’s an aging serum, you idiot.” Fred gave him a disdainful look, but quickly turned his gaze back to Siren, while taking out a small, long-necked bottle.
It contained a pale yellow potion that looked like lemon juice.
“You’ll definitely run for the Warriors too,” Fred said with certainty.
“Since we’re partners, this is for you.” George handed the bottle to Siron.
“But we can’t guarantee that the amount in here will keep you until you’re seventeen,” Fred said.
"After all, you're a full three years younger."
“It won’t work,” Hermione suddenly said, interrupting them.
"is it?"
"Why, Miss Granger?"
Fred and George sat down on either side of Hermione.
“Don’t forget, that age line was drawn by Dumbledore himself.” Hermione pointed towards the Goblet of Fire.
"So what?" Fred said nonchalantly.
"So what?" Hermione laughed in exasperation. "How could a genius like Dumbledore be fooled by such a piece of junk as an aging potion?"
"No no no..."
"The best things are the broken ones."
"He wouldn't have thought of that piece of junk."
Fred and George were equally confident; they stood up and strode toward the Goblet of Fire.
Xilun watched the two from behind.
In a sense, their idea is not wrong at all.
It's really easy to fool the age limit of the Goblet of Fire, even easier than the Age-Defying Potion... At least the Age-Defying Potion needs to be brewed, and people without a certain level of potion-making skills can't make it.
But finding someone willing to help is much simpler; it might just be a matter of saying a few words.
Siren once suspected that this was Dumbledore's doing, as he should not normally leave such a loophole.
What's even more interesting is that no one thought of such a simple method.
However, Celen did not remind Fred and George of their thoughts, and just watched them walk to the age line, tiptoe, and cross the line like divers.
In an instant, cheers erupted from all around.
Harry stood up excitedly, "They became..."
Before he could finish speaking, he heard a hissing sound, like a poor electrical connection.
The next second, Fred and George were simultaneously thrown outside the age line, landing painfully ten feet away on the ground. Not only that, but identical white beards also grew on their chins.
The people around burst into laughter.
"See, I told you so," Hermione said calmly, as if she had expected this to happen.
“Yes, obviously.” Celen chuckled, carefully putting away the bottle and patting Colin Crevey, who was still lost in surprise, on the shoulder, reminding him:
"What are you waiting for? Hurry up and take the picture, they'll run away in a minute!"
"Ah? Oh!"
Reminded by Xilun, Klin immediately reacted, raised the camera on his chest, and snapped a photo.
