Hogwarts: Don't call me Wandmaker
Chapter 283 Magic School and Magic Arena
Chapter 283 Magic School and Magic Arena
Soon, Bill realized that he seemed to have been tricked. After all, Xiren had never shown much enthusiasm or curiosity for ancient Egyptian magic before, so why would he travel all the way here after graduation?
But Bill wasn't angry; instead, he found it amusing... just like when he ordered Celanese beer for him.
Moreover, their relationship actually improved after this little incident.
Because Bill saw a familiar feeling in Siron... just like seeing his brothers Fred and George.
No wonder they became friends.
The three of them then had a simple dinner there.
Bill ordered it. This time, there was no anise beer, but rather some Egyptian-style dishes that tasted quite good.
"By the way, did you find anything related to the wand when you were in the pyramid?" Bill ordered two more drinks, handing one a honey soda to Celyn and the other a whiskey to Lupin.
“No.” Xilun shook his head. “The runes on the wall tiles could have been a reference, but they’re all messed up now, and I don’t have the patience to put them back together.”
"This was also the work of the fairies... to prevent wizards from stealing what 'belongs' to them," Bill said calmly.
“Now that you mention it, I think I hate fairies even more,” Xilun said.
“That’s just how they are, not what I said,” Bill said in a low voice. “If I weren’t interested in ancient Egyptian magic, I wouldn’t be working with them.”
He then sat up and said in a normal voice, "It's alright. I guess the reason Mr. Ollivander didn't make things clear beforehand is because he knew in advance that you would definitely find out."
“If that’s the case, then there’s no need to rush.” He took another sip of whiskey. “It’s getting late. You can rest here for the night. Tomorrow I’ll take you on a tour of some of Egypt’s famous places. You’re sure to find something of value there.”
Xilun naturally wouldn't object.
That night, he stayed at the Sphinx Bar. The conditions there were a bit worse than the Scarab Bar, but it had the advantage of freedom. He could go wherever he wanted, and no one would run out from the middle of the corridor to make him go back.
Bill arrived early the next day.
He first took Siron to the Ministry of Magic, hidden beneath the Sphinx, to see the exotic sights, and then they left through another exit to the famous Heliopolis Academy of Magic.
These schools weren't hidden away like Hogwarts; instead, they were built right next to a Muggle university.
Enter through a spice shop next door, and you'll find the real magic academy.
Xilun felt that it looked familiar, and after thinking for a while, he realized that it was just another form of Diagon Alley.
Diagon Alley is located on a bustling Muggle street, connected by the Leaky Cauldron. Wizards who want to get to Diagon Alley must first pass through the Leaky Cauldron.
The Heliopolis Magic Academy was the same, except they replaced the bar with a spice shop.
Moreover, this magic school is more open compared to Hogwarts.
Even though it's holiday time and Xilun is an outsider, he was still allowed to visit the school.
Big!
This was Xiren's first impression of Heliopolis Magic Academy.
If Hogwarts School is a giant castle, then this is a vast complex consisting of at least three castles of similar size.
Excluding the Forbidden Forest, Heliopolis School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is at least three times the size of Hogwarts, and its architecture is in the style of ancient Egypt, consisting entirely of massive stones.
After leaving school, it was almost noon, so they went to a riverside restaurant for a truly authentic Egyptian meal. After lunch, there was a place to digest... the Merpta Arena, Egypt's most famous acrobatic arena.
That place was hidden in the desert and protected by a powerful Muggle expulsion spell.
Bill deliberately put it last.
As the name suggests, this is where wizard duels are held.
Indeed, in the last century, the Melp Tower Magic Arena has hosted at least three international wizarding duels, where countless powerful wizards have left their magical traces.
However, when Xilun actually arrived here, he realized that he had been too naive.
Not only can wizard duels take place here, but also magical beast duels, and the cursed contests that he finds most incomprehensible.
It's basically two wizards casting curses on each other at the same time to see who can survive to the end... In a sense, this should also be considered another form of duel, and it's just as exciting as a magic duel.
Because curses are ever-changing, sometimes just a slight alteration can completely change their effect.
Curses like the ones Xiren was familiar with—such as the Tarantella Dancing Curse, the Fang Curse, and the Burning Curse—are not even warm-up here.
Out of curiosity, Siron watched a match, and as soon as it started, one of the wizards' bodies split open.
It was truly cracked open; Xilun could see the beating heart inside, and the outline of a hand on the heart.
Then he went to the Magical Beasts Arena next door.
To be honest, I feel that the Cursed Contest is really unnecessary. Even Xilun can't accept it just by looking at it.
As for the magical creatures, there are also a lot of people here.
On the spacious platform, two fist-sized insects were fiercely fighting, tearing at each other's bodies and wings.
Xilun recognized this insect... the hawk moth. If you get bitten by it, the wound will hurt for at least three days.
But compared to those two places, the most worthwhile thing to see here is the wizard duel.
When Bill brought Celen here, the game had just entered a crucial moment.
One of the middle-aged male wizards made a few gestures in the air with his hand, and instantly a large swamp appeared under his opponent's feet.
He waved his hand again, this time in a different direction. The stone steps on both sides of the arena suddenly rose and crashed into the middle of the swamp.
"That's hand gesture magic!"
Amid cheers, Bill had to shout so that Celen could hear him.
"His last move wasn't actually that hard to dodge... If you could prepare in advance, you could dodge it even if you only had a second... But his opponent was too ignorant of hand gesture magic!"
Xiren did not answer; his gaze remained fixed on the victor who had just defeated his opponent, while he couldn't help but recall the scene from just moments before.
The hand gesture he just made looked so much like some kind of magical rune, like he was drawing a simple magical symbol in the air with his hand.
