Hogwarts: Don't call me Wandmaker
Chapter 249 Snape's Storeroom
Chapter 249 Snape's Storeroom
Xilun returned to the dormitory, opened the window with practiced ease, and transformed into a cat, leaping outside.
Although he didn't open the windows of the castle corridor beforehand, it wasn't a big problem, and Siren quickly found a solution.
He learned this method the first time he dealt with Sirius Black.
The next second, a black cat stepped on the flying book and landed directly on the ground.
Siren jumped off the Horcrux, quickly determined his direction, and immediately ran towards the Quidditch pitch.
At this point, no voices could be heard.
When Siren arrived, he saw Dumbledore standing there expressionless.
As for Blake and Peter... they were asleep and looked quite peaceful.
Xilun didn't dare get too close, but just hid in a secluded spot and watched from a distance.
At that moment, Snape was squatting down next to Peter, examining something, before standing up.
"It's truth serum, Principal."
"Severus, are you sure?"
“Of course,” Snape said coldly. “And I’m all too familiar with the taste of that truth serum; it’s exactly the same as the one I brewed… It’s strange that Peter Pettigrew would drink the truth serum I made!”
"So, what we just heard was all true?" Professor Flitwick stepped forward in disbelief.
"Was it Peter Pettigrew who betrayed the Potters? Sirius Black is innocent?"
“Merlin’s beard.” Professor McGonagall looked at Sirius lying on the ground. “An innocent man spent twelve years in Azkaban?”
“Minerva, it’s a bit too early to draw conclusions,” Dumbledore said.
“That’s right.” Snape nodded. “If you ask me, it would be best to give him some truth serum too, then the truth will come out.”
“I can provide truth serum…if that thief didn’t steal them all!”
“Severus, using Truth Potion without authorization is a violation of the Wizarding Law,” Professor McGonagall reminded him.
“That’s true, but it seems not everyone knows this.” Snape walked over to Peter Pettigrew. His cheek muscles twitched slightly, whether from heartache or something else was unclear.
Judging from the intensity of the smell, someone must have poured an entire bottle of truth serum into him. With that dosage, even a giant wouldn't be able to utter a single lie.
Of course, he wasn't feeling sorry for Peter, he was just feeling sorry for those truth serums... that stuff wasn't easy to make.
Generally speaking, just two drops are enough to make a wizard reveal his deepest secrets; any more would only add a little more time to tell the truth, which would be a complete waste.
Someone like Peter Pettigrew probably wouldn't be able to tell a single lie for a whole month.
……
“I think we should continue this elsewhere,” Dumbledore suddenly said, looking up.
Thinking he had been spotted, Xilen quickly hid in the bushes.
Fortunately, Dumbledore's gaze did not linger there and quickly shifted to another place.
“Oh, I almost forgot. Harry, you should go back to the castle now,” he said. “We’ll find out the truth.”
"No, I won't go back!"
Harry squeezed through the professors, holding the Golden Snitch in one hand and his Firebolt in the other.
“Some of them betrayed my parents; I should know the truth!”
“I understand how you feel, Harry,” Dumbledore said. “But you have more important things to do now. Go see Professor Lupin; perhaps he can answer the questions you have.”
"Oh, Severus, did you give that thing to him?"
“Not yet,” Snape said. “I can go now if needed.”
“No, not for now,” Dumbledore said, looking at Harry again. “He should still be in his office, but you’d better hurry, or he might not be in the mood to talk to you much.” Harry still didn’t want to leave, but he knew very well that he couldn’t force himself to stay and interrogate Black and Peter with them without Dumbledore’s permission.
After much hesitation, he reluctantly left and headed straight for the Defense Against the Dark Arts office.
The professors then headed toward the castle, with Dumbledore leading the way, followed by Professor McGonagall who conjured two stretchers and carried the unconscious Black and Peter.
After they had walked some distance, Xiren emerged from the bushes and followed them into the castle.
There were no students in the castle at this time. Dumbledore and the other professors went up the stairs, seemingly heading to the headmaster's office on the eighth floor.
Only Snape left the group and went to the underground classroom.
Without any hesitation, Siron decisively followed Snape.
Just kidding, Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall are both Transfiguration masters, there's no way he could have gotten into the Headmaster's office, it's much safer with Snape.
He also wanted to see what could have made Snape give up the opportunity to interrogate Black immediately.
There was no need to be too cautious here; the dimly lit underground classroom provided the best protection. Siren quickened his pace and soon caught up with Snape ahead.
By this time, he had passed the office and the underground classroom and arrived at a more inconspicuous small door in the deeper part of the corridor.
"A trap is about to appear!"
He waved his wand, and something else appeared on the previously empty door, like some kind of symbol.
Snape pushed open the door and went inside, but he was stunned when he saw what was inside.
He initially thought someone had stolen his truth serum and fed it to Peter Pettigrew.
But now he discovered that the truth serum was still in the same place... two small bottles in total, not a single one missing.
He walked over, pulled out the two stoppers, and smelled them, which made him even more puzzled.
Both bottles are indeed his homemade truth serum, not some fake product that was switched out.
But that's strange. If his truth serum wasn't stolen, then what was Peter Pettigrew drinking?
It can't be that someone brewed a truth serum that's exactly the same as his, right?
There is never a standard answer when it comes to potions, just like apple pie; everyone's version tastes different.
Snape couldn't possibly mistake his own potion.
Could it have been stolen before...? But he's never thrown away truth serum before...
A few minutes later, Snape, having no clue what to do, simply gave up, casually put one bottle of Truth Potion into his pocket, put the other back in its place, turned around and walked out of his private storage room, then jogged away from the underground classroom.
What he said outside just now wasn't a joke; he genuinely had this idea. He came here specifically to get the truth serum.
And fearing that Sirius Black would wake up prematurely, he didn't care about his appearance and ran upstairs as fast as he could, his black cloak fluttering in the air.
In his haste, and because the underground classroom corridor was dimly lit, Snape didn't notice at all that there was a black cat crouching in the corner of the corridor he had just passed.
Siron didn't change back until Snape's figure completely disappeared at the end of the corridor.
He walked to the small door, carefully recalled Snape's wrist movement, and took out his wand, waving it gently.
"A trap is about to appear!"
"Buzz..." Accompanied by a faint sound, a magical rune that Xilun had never seen before appeared on the door.
He grasped the handle and gave it a gentle twist.
"Click..."
The door opened.
A strange, indescribable smell wafted over, like potatoes that had been sitting out for too long; it smelled rather unpleasant.
