Hogwarts: Don't call me Wandmaker
Chapter 226 Professor Flitwick's Curiosity
Chapter 226 Professor Flitwick's Curiosity
After discovering the special uses of the Dementor powder, Siron immediately thought of a potential customer... Professor Flitwick.
At Hogwarts, every professor has their own hobbies: Professor McGonagall likes Quidditch, Professor Sprout likes playing with magical plants, Snape likes Lily... and Professor Flitwick likes dueling.
When it comes to duels, a good wand is essential. In fact, even before he was old enough to go to school, Siron had seen Professor Flitwick many times, sometimes in the wand shop, sometimes elsewhere.
A few years ago, when freshmen were sorted into Ravenclaw, Professor Flitwick was quite disappointed that he wasn't assigned to Ravenclaw.
That same year, Siron used Professor McGonagall's hair to make a wand core, creating a special wand that Professor Flitwick envied.
However, due to the reserve of an adult wizard and his status as a professor, he never took the initiative to seek out Siron.
But Siren could take the initiative to find him.
So, during a Charms class practice session, Siren deliberately let Harry cast the Disarming Charm on him...
Then his wand flew out of his hand and landed between the two of them with a crisp sound.
“Mr. Potter, Mr. Ollivander, we’re in a classroom, not in the dueling club, and we’re not learning about the Disarming Charm… Gryffindor, deduct two points.” Professor Flitwick approached, his tone stern. But his gaze involuntarily fell on the wand.
Professor Flitwick frowned slightly as he looked at the wand lying on the ground... After being hit by the Disarming Charm, the wand should have flown into the caster's hand. Why did it fall down halfway?
Harry's disarming charm failed?
No, probably not.
He clearly saw the disarming spell just now; the red light was dazzling, and the spell was powerful and effective. It was definitely a successful spell. Even if he had been hit, his wand would have been taken away.
But what about that magic wand?
Professor Flitwick looked down at the ground again.
But by then, Siron had already picked up the wand, so he could only suppress his doubts for the time being.
Professor Flitwick overheard a conversation between Sheryl and Harry before leaving the classroom after class.
"How about my new wand?" Siron's voice was neither too loud nor too soft, just loud enough for Professor Flitwick, who was walking to the door, to hear. "I told you it could withstand your disarming spell."
"How did you do that?" Harry asked incredulously.
A wand that could negate the Disarming Charm… He felt like he was being targeted, after all, the Disarming Charm was his specialty.
“It’s a secret,” Siren said. “This is my latest improved technique, and it won’t be available in wand shops for several years. This is just to let you experience it in advance.”
The two walked outside, but Professor Flitwick astutely caught several key pieces of information.
The wand, by virtue of its own ability to neutralize the disarming spell and the latest wand craftsmanship, immediately made him turn around.
“Mr. Ollivander…”
“Hello, Professor Flitwick.” Siren stopped and asked, “Is there anything I can help you with?”
“That’s right,” Flitwick said. “I noticed during class that your wand seems a little special.”
Instead of directly stating that he had overheard their conversation, he used a different phrasing befitting his professorial status.
Xilun hesitated for a moment before nodding and saying, "Yes, I have discovered a particularly useful material that can increase the staff's resistance to spells to a certain extent."
"Excuse me for being so bold, but may I see that wand?" Professor Flitwick said. "I can assure you, as the head of Ravenclaw, that I will not reveal this secret of yours."
“Of course I believe you, Professor Flitwick,” Celen said. “Here?”
"Let's go to my office." The two went together to Professor Flitwick's office on the third floor, and Harry thought for a moment and then followed.
The main reason was that he had nowhere else to go.
Ron and Hermione are at odds again because Ron's mouse, Scabbers, is getting increasingly listless, has lost more than two sizes since last year, and has recently started shedding large patches of fur.
Ron thought Hermione's cat had scared Scabbers, while Hermione thought he was being unreasonable.
To be honest, Harry is on Hermione's side this time.
Although the ginger cat named Crookshank was always hostile to Spots, this was a perfectly normal phenomenon. Isn't it normal for a cat to want to eat a mouse?
Moreover, that cat rarely stays in the castle; most of the time, it roams the grounds and the edge of the Forbidden Forest with Siron's pets...
He saw them in the Forbidden Forest behind the school several times during his conservation of magical creatures classes.
So Ron's claim that Hermione's cat scared Scabbers is completely unfounded; they probably rarely even see each other.
From the first year's Spells class to Lockhart's second year, there had been far too many misunderstandings. He was too lazy to offer his opinion anymore. Rather than being torn between his two friends, he figured he might as well find something to do and hide away.
Then the three of them arrived at Professor Flitwick's office.
The office here is about the same size as other professors' offices, but because the furniture and desks are about half the normal size, it feels exceptionally spacious.
“Mr. Potter,” Professor Flitwick looked at Harry, “I would like you to use the Disarming Charm on me, would you please?”
"Here?" Harry asked.
“Yes, here.” Professor Flitwick nodded.
Harry hesitated for a moment, until Cyril whispered beside him, "Professor Flitwick is the Head of the House, and Snape is also the Head of the House, you can..."
"Except your weapons!"
Before Siron could finish speaking, Harry had already extended his wand, and a red light suddenly shone forth.
Harry thought the outcome would be the same as in the Charms class: the wand would slip from his hand, fly a few feet, and fall to the ground.
However, Professor Flitwick simply waved his hand... without chanting a spell, just a casual wave, and the red light was shattered right in front of him.
"Oh!" Professor Flitwick exclaimed, his eyes widening in surprise.
The feeling I just experienced... how should I put it? It was like cutting a freshly grilled steak with a brand-new silver knife—it was simply a pleasure.
“Mr. Ollivander,” Professor Flitwick said, “could the previous wands have done this?”
“Not yet.” Xilun quickly understood what he meant and shook his head, saying, “This effect can only be achieved by placing the wand into the new material before inscribing the runes; it won’t work with a wand that has already been made.”
Professor Flitwick was somewhat disappointed, but only slightly, as if he had expected this to happen. He looked at Harry again.
"Please do it again, Mr. Potter."
Seeing this, Harry had no choice but to raise his wand again.
