Hogwarts: Don't call me Wandmaker
Chapter 221 Find a Dementor
Chapter 221 Find a Dementor
On the other side, after leaving the History of Magic classroom, Siren did not rush back to the common room. Instead, he transformed himself into a cat in a secluded corner and left the castle. He then went straight to the vicinity of the Willow Tree.
With the cat's agility, Xilun easily reached the trunk of the Man-beating Willow and jumped into a hidden hole.
Behind the cave entrance was a narrow and deep passage. If Xilun were to enter normally, he would probably have to be constantly wary of the protruding rock walls, or he would bump his head if he wasn't careful.
Fortunately, he's a cat now, so he doesn't have to worry about anything and can just run forward.
Soon, the tunnel began to slope upwards and turned a corner, and Xilun saw a faint light, a small exit.
Siren jumped through the gap!
"Who!" Sirius Black shouted, leaping up from his armchair. He only breathed a sigh of relief after seeing that it was a cat that had entered.
“I really didn’t expect you to come visit me at this time, Sirius,” Sirius said. “Staying out at night is against school rules.”
"Did I hear that right? Are you trying to persuade me not to break the school rules?" Xilun reverted to his original form. "Are you being controlled by an Imperius Curse?"
"Then you'd better run," Sirius said with a laugh. "The Dementors might come to get me and you, their accomplice, soon."
He seemed to find it a very funny joke, and he laughed as soon as he finished telling it.
“That’s great, that’s exactly what I came here for,” Siron said.
Sirius's laughter vanished instantly, and he stared blankly at Sirius. "I must have misheard you. What did you say you came here for? Wasn't it to keep me entertained and come see me?"
“You…” Sirius looked at Sirius, opened his mouth as if to say something but hesitated, then changed his words after a moment and said, “Okay, that’s one reason. Also, I have some things to do. I’m looking for a lone Dementor. You must know their exact location, right?”
"What do you want that you have to go to those terrible monsters for?" Sirius said emotionally. "They won't spare you just because you're a Hogwarts student."
“If Dementors are like that, I’d be too embarrassed to go looking for them,” Siron said with a laugh.
"So what do you want to do?"
“I’m learning the Patronus Charm,” Siren explained. “Professor Lupin said I’ve mastered the spell, but I need more efficient practice, so here I am. There’s nothing more efficient than facing Dementors directly, right?”
"This is Remus's advice to you?" Sirius's voice suddenly rose. "He sent you to find the Dementors?"
"No, I came here to find the Dementors."
“I advise you not to do this.” Sirius shook his head vigorously. “You have no idea how terrifying Dementors are. They… ah… um?”
Sirius suddenly fell silent, staring wide-eyed at the tattered black cloak in Sirius's hand.
"What...what is this?"
“It’s what you’re thinking of, the Dementor’s cloak,” Siron said. “I just want to say that no one knows Dementors better than me, so you can rest assured.”
"But, but... how did you get that thing?" Sirius was still in shock.
“Of course you did it for me,” Xiren said.
“Me?” Sirius pointed to himself, then shook his head vigorously. “Although I’m glad you trust me so much, I must say that I can’t kill Dementors, nor can I steal their cloaks.”
"In fact, the best I can do right now is not run away when I see a Dementor," Sirius said, his tone tinged with bitterness.
But there was no way around it; after twelve years in Azkaban, the fear of Dementors had become an instinct.
“You don’t need to lift a finger,” Celen said. “You don’t need to do anything. Just show up near Hogsmeade at some time tomorrow, make sure people see you.”
"Huh?" Sirius was even more confused. "Why?"
“Because only in this way can the disappearance of a Dementor make sense,” Sirius said. “Sirius Black appears in Hogsmeade, and a dutiful Dementor goes to capture him, only to be killed by the ferocious Black. Doesn’t that sound reasonable?” “Not at all!” Sirius’s eyes twitched.
How could he possibly kill a Dementor? By smashing it with Galon?
“That’s not important. As long as the Ministry of Magic deems it reasonable, that’s fine,” Siron said.
"But I still don't understand." Sirius rubbed his forehead. "You just wanted to practice your Patronus Charm with a Dementor, why are you going to kill them?"
“That’s only one reason,” Siron said. “Also, I need something to improve the quality of my wand.”
"A wand?" Sirius was taken aback. "You're not telling me that Dementors can be made into wand cores?"
“It’s not the core, but it’s still useful,” Sirius said, without going into detail. Otherwise, given Sirius’s inquisitive nature, he probably would have had to explain until tomorrow morning.
"Just tell me if there are any lone Dementors around. In return, I can find a way to get you into the Quidditch stadium for the next Gryffindor match."
"Behind Lady Padif's tea house is a path leading to the woods, where there is only one Dementor, and because of the angle, none of the other Dementors can see it."
Without the slightest hesitation, Sirius blurted out, "The other one is the side entrance of the Hog's Head. Too many wizards from all walks of life gather there, and there are always Dementors watching over it. But the Hog's Head is on the very edge of Hogsmeade, so the guard is quite far from the other Dementors."
“So you knew all along,” Xilun laughed.
“Some necessary preparations must be made,” Sirius said.
“Alright, don’t forget to show your face tomorrow,” Xilun said. “Just make sure you’re visible from a distance, and don’t actually get caught.”
“Don’t worry, of course I know that,” Sirius said. He looked up and saw that Sirius had turned into a cat again, jumped upstairs on a chair, and then darted out through the crack in the window.
Sirius hesitated for only a moment before turning into a dog and chasing after them.
In any case, he could not let Siron go out alone to deal with Dementors, even if he knew Animagus.
Once outside, Sirius assumed that Sirius must have gone to find the Dementor at the Hog's Head, since that was the furthest away and relatively the safest place, so he immediately ran to the left.
But in reality, Siron chose the one behind Lady Padif's teahouse.
The Hog's Head may seem safer, but the owner is Aberforth Dumbledore, and it wouldn't be good to be discovered by him.
Although he certainly wouldn't tell the Ministry of Magic, and most likely wouldn't tell Headmaster Dumbledore either, it was still a risk nonetheless.
Thinking about it that way, Madame Patif's Tea House is still more suitable.
Xilun quickened its pace once again.
By this time, all the shops in Hogsmeade were closed, and there was no one on the street except for a few Dementors floating around, creating an eerie and terrifying scene.
Fortunately, they had little chance of noticing the presence of a cat. Under the cover of darkness, the black cat darted past the Dementors in a few quick movements.
A few minutes later, a brilliant blue streak suddenly flashed across the quiet sky above Hogsmeade, but quickly returned to calm.
A few lights were flickering on in the already closed shops, as the shop owners, awakened, checked the situation, but because the area outside was teeming with Dementors, they chose not to come out.
The Dementors went to the source of the light, but they found nothing... There was nothing there, no blue light, no people, and no Dementors.
