Hogwarts: Don't call me Wandmaker

Chapter 190 A Sudden Chill

Chapter 190 A Sudden Chill

After spending the whole day at Hogsmeade, as dusk fell, everyone reluctantly returned to the castle, led by Professor McGonagall.

Passing by the school gates guarded by Dementors again, Siron noticed that there were more Dementors at the gate than during the day.

Seven or eight Dementors were flying around rapidly nearby, seemingly searching for something.

With so many Dementors gathered together, the surroundings seemed to turn into winter, with a biting wind and a thick layer of white frost on the grass, which made a crunching sound when stepped on.

This large student group also attracted the attention of the Dementors, but with Professor McGonagall present, they could do nothing but obediently make way for everyone to return to the castle.

"These guys are getting more and more unruly. What are they planning to do by gathering together? Attack Hogwarts?" Professor McGonagall said with a serious expression.

She was against having Dementors in school, but the Ministry of Magic insisted.
They also claimed it was to protect the students' safety and prevent Sirius Black from breaking into Hogwarts, but so far, these Dementors have done absolutely nothing.

They failed to capture Sirius Black, and the students did not feel the slightest bit of protection.

Furthermore, Dumbledore had said more than once that the three Dementors were forbidden from gathering together, but now they ignored his warnings.

"Those idiots..." Professor McGonagall muttered, it was unclear whether she was referring to the Dementors or something else.

“Professor McGonagall…” Siron stepped forward quickly and asked in a low voice, “I felt like the Dementors were very angry just now. Could something have happened?”

“Whatever happens is none of your business, Siron,” Professor McGonagall interrupted him. “Also, don’t be curious about Dementors. These guys don’t know what politeness is. They’ll just see you as a delicious meal.”

“I understand, Professor.” Siren smiled. “These guys are indeed very gluttonous.”

Hermione, who was standing nearby, had wanted to ask if Dementors would ever break into the school, but seeing Professor McGonagall's angry expression, she didn't ask anymore.

Professor McGonagall quickened her pace, and after seeing everyone into the castle, she hurried to the headmaster's office to find Dumbledore.

Siren returned to the Gryffindor common room with the others.

Harry was already waiting for them.

As soon as Ron stepped through the passage, he pushed a huge pile of colorful candies in front of Harry. The table was a bit small, and a lot of the candies ended up on Harry's lap.

“Thanks,” Harry said, picking up a packet of Pepper Potts. “How’s Hogsmeade…”

“Great… well, okay, it’s not that great.” Hermione blurted out, then immediately corrected herself.

"It's a bit like another Diagon Alley, but it feels completely different..."

Siren didn't participate in the conversation. While Hermione and Ron were excitedly introducing Hogsmeade, he had already gone upstairs back to his dormitory.

“Try this soft bee.” Ron pinched a yellow bee out of the box, and as soon as he let go, it buzzed around Harry.

"You just need to open your mouth and it will fall onto your tongue by itself, but be careful not to get stung, they really do seem to have thorns."

Harry opened his mouth but immediately closed it again.

"Can a piece of candy sting?"

“I heard it from Fred too.” Ron took out another soft bee from the box and examined it.

“This is Honeydukes’ premium candy, it’s very expensive, I’ve never had it before… Oh, it doesn’t seem to have any thorns on it, Fred must be lying to me again.”

He tried to open his mouth, and the buzzing bee in mid-air landed on his tongue.

"See, it's not there... Oh!"

Ron suddenly let out a strange cry, and his tongue quickly bulged out, right where the soft bee had landed.

Ron was terrified until his lips accidentally touched the swollen bump... It was cranberry flavored, and when he put it in his mouth, it felt like having a piece of candy in his mouth.

“That’s…interesting,” Ron mumbled. “By the way, this was bought by Siron. I couldn’t afford such expensive candy.” “Speaking of which, where did Siron go?” Harry opened his mouth and got stung, but his was pineapple-flavored.

“I just saw him here,” Hermione said. “He probably went back to his dorm. He bought a lot of stuff at Hogsmeade.”

As they spoke, they suddenly felt the temperature around them drop significantly, and everyone in the common room began to move closer to the fireplace, whether intentionally or unintentionally.

Harry sat there, his pupils contracting.

The feeling was so familiar that it subconsciously reminded him of the encounter with the Dementors on the train. There was no mistake; the suffocating chill was exactly the same as it was now.

Did the Dementors break into Gryffindor's common room?

Thinking of a terrible outcome, he quickly turned his head to look in the direction of the passage.

Fortunately, it was locked up, and the fat lady was dutifully completing her task.

At the same time, the sudden chill disappeared as if it had never happened.

"The weather in October is so strange, it's hot one minute and cold the next." Ron returned from near the fireplace. "What's wrong, Harry?"

"Didn't that chill feel familiar?" Harry asked in a low voice. "Like the Dementors on the train."

“Now that you mention it…” Ron frowned, thinking carefully for a moment. “It does look somewhat similar, but Harry, the headmaster and professors wouldn’t allow Dementors into the castle, much less let them into the common room.”

“That’s true.” Harry nodded. “Maybe I’m overthinking it… Oh, by the way, I have something else to tell you about Professor Lupin and Snape.”

Harry recounted what he had seen in Lupin's office that afternoon, and they immediately forgot about what had just happened.

"This afternoon, I saw Snape bring a wine glass to Professor Lupin and ask him to drink all the potion inside."

"Lupin drank it?" Ron asked in surprise. "Has he gone mad?"

Hermione glanced at her watch.

“We have to go down,” she said. “The banquet starts in five minutes…”

“Okay, I’ll go get Siren.” Harry stood up and was about to run upstairs.

Just then, Xilun came down from upstairs.

“I was just about to come find you; the party is about to start,” Harry said. “And thank you for the sweets.”

"You're welcome," Xilun said.

“Let’s hurry to the Great Hall… Oh, there’s something in your hair, right here.” Harry pointed to his forehead.

Xilun casually touched it and felt a chill... his hair had been frozen, and now when he grasped it, it immediately turned into water.

"Maybe it accidentally brushed against something," Xiren said casually. "Didn't they say the banquet was about to start? Let's hurry up and go."

They hurriedly left the passageway and merged into the crowd.

On the way, Harry and Ron continued their discussion, speculating about what Snape had given Lupin to drink.

Hermione, however, thought they were overthinking it; at least Lupin's drink was definitely safe.

"If he wanted to do something bad, he certainly wouldn't do it in front of Harry, would he?"

“Maybe,” Harry said, still not believing Snape.
