Hogwarts: Don't call me Wandmaker

Chapter 142 Siren on the Back of the Three-Headed Dog

Chapter 142 Siren on the Back of the Three-Headed Dog
Tonight is truly an extraordinary night. Professor McGonagall felt that all the things she had experienced throughout the year combined might not have been as exciting as this one night.

But out of a sense of responsibility as a professor, she followed Hermione to the second floor. As they walked up the stairs, she couldn't help but ask:

"So you mean that Lockhart, that good-for-nothing who only talks big, not only destroyed the magic left by Dumbledore and opened the Chamber of Secrets left by Salazar Slytherin, but also kidnapped a student, is that right?"

As she continued, Professor McGonagall's expression grew increasingly strange. To be honest, she would rather believe that a student had defeated a basilisk while riding a fire-breathing dragon... Although such a thing was equally outrageous, it was at least much easier than what Lockhart had done, and there was still a slight possibility of it.

“Yes, Professor, we saw it with our own eyes, it was Lockhart…” Hermione hesitated for a moment, then continued, “But there was another person, but we didn’t see him, only Lockhart knows.”

As they spoke, the two arrived at the second floor, at the door of Myrtle's washroom.

Professor McGonagall's last shred of doubt vanished when she saw the gap in the door and the water puddles on the hallway. Clearly, every word Hermione had said was true.

"Merlin... how is this possible!" Professor McGonagall strode forward.

The magic on the door hadn't completely disappeared, but a gap had appeared, just big enough for an adult wizard to squeeze through.

There seemed to be a battle going on in the bathroom, but not a very intense one. Only the sink was broken, with shards scattered everywhere, and water was gushing from the pipes, soaking the floor.

Professor McGonagall looked around and felt something was off... Oh, it was too quiet.

Then she saw Myrtle floating motionless on the ceiling.

She had never been so quiet before, surrounded by smoke, with a look of terror on her face.

Professor McGonagall took a few deep breaths, stopped looking at the strange ghost, and quickly walked to another sink.

The bronze dragon head here was not damaged and is still in good condition. In addition to the Slytherin mark, there is now a Hogwarts school emblem on it.

This is also one of the methods left behind by Dumbledore.

As soon as Professor McGonagall approached, the design on the school emblem came to life: a lion pounced on the two of them, followed by an eagle, a badger, and a snake.

Professor McGonagall waved her wand, and in the blink of an eye, the animals vanished again.

Professor McGonagall looked at Hermione.

“I can’t open it…” Hermione said. “It’s Harry. He made a strange hissing sound and the tube got bigger.”

“A hissing sound…” Professor McGonagall suddenly remembered what Dumbledore had told her, and seemed to realize something. “It’s Parsleyan. Is Mr. Potter a Parsleyan?”

"What did you just say about snakes?" Hermione blinked blankly.

“It means having the ability to talk to snakes,” Professor McGonagall explained.

“I don’t know,” Hermione said, shaking her head, “but it sounds somewhat like it.”

At this point, Professor McGonagall was almost certain that the way to open the Chamber of Secrets was through Parseltongue, but neither she nor Hermione possessed this ability, so they still couldn't get in.

"Where is Potter?"

“We should be near Hagrid’s cabin, with Helen,” Hermione said. “Helen said that the biggest help we can give Hagrid is by not causing trouble.”

“He’s right, you’d better keep that in mind.”

Professor McGonagall finally showed a hint of relief, but it quickly disappeared.

The most urgent task now is to rescue Ron Weasley, so she must find Harry, who can open the Chamber of Secrets, as soon as possible.

The two returned to the foyer, where the other professors had already covered all the windows, including the ceiling of the auditorium.

Everyone was relieved that the incident happened at night, close to curfew, when almost everyone was in the common room. And since the basilisk had appeared in the direction of the main gate, it was out of sight of any of the colleges' common rooms.

“Minerva, we have to go help Hagrid.” Seeing Professor McGonagall approaching, Flitwick immediately stepped forward and said, “The basilisk’s venom can even kill giants. We can’t let Hagrid risk his life alone.”

“Let’s go together then. I’ll go take care of the Chamber of Secrets,” Professor McGonagall decided immediately. “Be very careful of the Basilisk’s eyes.”

"Don't worry, I can find the basilisk even with my eyes closed." Professor Flitwick ran out quickly.

Professor Sprout directed several round, rolling things to follow behind him.

Siren wasn't entirely right. In an emergency, like when they suddenly encountered the basilisk in the foyer, the professors would definitely be less effective than Hagrid.

However, if the enemy is known in advance, the basilisk is not as threatening, and the professors always have a way to deal with it.

Snape did not go; he needed to stay in the castle with the other professors in case the basilisk returned.

After arranging everything, Professor McGonagall immediately left the castle to go find Harry.

As soon as he stepped down the stairs, he felt the ground beneath his feet tremble slightly, and the bushes around the castle began to sway uncontrollably.

"what!"

Hermione's scream reached her ears, and Professor McGonagall looked up, alertly raising her wand to her eyes.

But the next second, what happened in front of her made her eyes widen in surprise.

Suddenly, a loud crash of breaking trees echoed through the dark Forbidden Forest, and a massive three-headed dog burst forth from within... Its nearly twenty-foot-tall body made it look like a runaway house, with three heads, each as big as a Quidditch goal.

Professor McGonagall then realized where the vibration she had just felt came from.

What's even more terrifying is that the Cerberus is not only huge, but also incredibly fast. In the blink of an eye, it has already run past, heading straight for the Quidditch pitch.

In a daze, Professor McGonagall thought she saw someone sitting on Cerberus... She must have been mistaken; how could someone sit on Cerberus?

Professor McGonagall shook her head.

She was surprised by the sudden appearance of this magical creature, but not panicked.

Professor McGonagall had already seen Cerberus last year, in the castle, and she knew very well that Hagrid had been taking care of it.

Perhaps sensing that Hagrid was in danger, it ran out of the Forbidden Forest to help.

However, with the help of Cerberus, their chances of winning are much greater.

Professor McGonagall thought to herself, then transformed into a tabby cat and rushed to the Forbidden Forest, to Hagrid's cabin.

Harry was indeed there, standing there, staring blankly ahead, as if he had seen something unbelievable.

“Mr. Potter, come with me quickly.” Professor McGonagall transformed back into her original form, grabbed Harry’s arm, and glanced around quickly.

Strange, someone's missing. Didn't Hermione say that Siren was here too?
“Where is Siron?” Professor McGonagall asked. “Listen, it’s too dangerous on the field now. You must get back to the castle as soon as possible.”

“Siron…” Harry blurted out, “He, he’s on the dog’s back.”

"What are you talking about?" Professor McGonagall frowned.

“Cerberus…” Harry finally realized what was happening, reaching out and pointing to the increasingly smaller figure ahead. “Sirlen is on Cerberus’s back!”
