Hogwarts: Don't call me Wandmaker
Chapter 117 Shoe Prints and Belladonna Powder
Chapter 117 Shoe Prints and Belladonna Powder
Even Hermione had to admit that Siron's method was incredibly effective; in just two days, most of the calls for Siron Ollivander to be expelled from the school disappeared.
Smart people don't want to be used as an excuse to raise the price of wands... As for those who aren't smart, there will be people who will help them expose Xiren's conspiracy.
Although it hasn't completely disappeared yet, the situation is much better now, and with Christmas approaching, even fewer people are still discussing this topic.
Only a few Slytherins persisted, deliberately raising their voices and uttering sarcastic remarks whenever they passed by Shiren.
These people were mainly Malfoy, whose personality had worsened since returning from St. Mungo's. He wanted to seek revenge on Lockhart for being tortured by the Bone Spirits all night, but Lockhart was already lying in the university hospital, lifeless and in even worse shape than him.
So Malfoy turned his anger on Shiren... who told Shiren to call in Madam Pomfrey? Otherwise, it would have been that damned Potter who had his bones removed.
Moreover, he wasn't afraid of Cyren threatening him with his wand at all. It didn't matter if he couldn't buy Ollivander; he could just buy Gregorovich instead. Anyway, the Malfoy family had plenty of money.
Then, on the day before the Christmas holidays, he, Crabbe, and Gore were on their way back to the common room when suddenly someone put a bag over their heads from behind.
"Hit me hard! I, Marcus Flint, will take full responsibility for any consequences!" Malfoy heard someone say this, and then a rain of fists and shoe soles began to pelt him.
One of the kicks even landed squarely on his face.
The familiar touch and pressure, the perfect size, instantly awakened a memory in his mind.
"Potter!" Malfoy roared, bracing himself against the relentless barrage of punches, "You're Potter, damn it, I'll kill you!"
The fist disappeared, and Malfoy heard a series of hurried footsteps moving rapidly into the distance.
But when he angrily broke free of the bag on his head, he didn't see a single person.
At this point, Crabbe and Gore finally tore off the bag.
"That damn Marcus, how dare he hit us!" Gore said angrily, his eye bruised and covered in dirty footprints.
"Idiot, that's not Marcus at all!" Malfoy exclaimed angrily. "Use your brain! Why would Marcus ambush us? Those people are clearly Gryffindor!"
Malfoy stood there angrily, then suddenly turned around after a few minutes. "Let's go!"
"Go for revenge?" Crabbe and Gore clenched their fists simultaneously.
“Of course we must get revenge,” Malfoy said. “Let’s go find Professor Snape. This time, Gryffindor broke the rules on their own initiative; they’re doomed!”
The three of them walked aggressively toward the underground classroom.
Not far away, Harry, who was watching them, couldn't help but feel a little worried.
“Sirlen, Malfoy recognized me. If he tells Snape about this, I’m dead…” Harry’s face turned deathly pale at the thought of Snape’s unique solitary confinement.
Malfoy's view was obscured by the bag, and he hadn't said anything at the time, so how did Malfoy manage to be recognized?
"Don't worry, it's Marcus Flint who's fighting them. What does that have to do with us Gryffindor?" Siron patted him on the shoulder.
“Yes, Siron is right. What does this have to do with us Gryffindor?”
"He's just spouting nonsense."
Fred and George chimed in.
Those two were the most excited just now, they kept hitting and kicking without stopping.
“But he called out my name.” Harry was still a little worried.
“What’s wrong with calling him by name? If he called him Dumbledore, would the headmaster have to apologize to him?” Siron said. “Besides, you’ve been reading with me in the library the whole time. When have you had time to come to the underground classroom?”
"Hurry up and get the invisibility cloak out, we should go back."
“Oh, right.” Harry quickly pulled out a silver-gray cloak that looked like it was made of water, amidst the Weasley brothers’ envious gazes.
“An invisibility cloak,” Fred clicked his tongue. “I wish someone would give us one of those as a Christmas present this year.”
"Go back to sleep early, you can dream about anything," Xiren said bluntly.
“That’s really hurtful,” George said, rubbing his eyes dramatically.
“Alright then, I hope you all receive an Invisibility Cloak this Christmas,” Siron said. “But was what you said before true? Did the news that the one who spreads power is the wand maker really come from Slytherin?”
"Maybe half," Fred nodded.
“The other half is Gryffindor,” George said. “But we certainly wouldn’t target you like that, would we?”
Xi Lun didn't say anything.
Just then, they heard a commotion ahead. Fred and George immediately ran into a dark corridor not far away, while Sirius and Harry put on their invisibility cloaks and headed upstairs to the library.
Tomorrow is the Christmas holiday, and there are only a few people reading and doing homework in the library.
When Siron and Harry went in, they went unnoticed until they reached a secluded table, where they emerged from under their invisibility cloaks.
“I can’t believe you guys actually went to find Malfoy!” Hermione, sitting on the far side, said in a very low voice.
“You’ve said it so many times, Hermione,” Ron said from the other end. “Did you succeed? How’s Malfoy doing?”
"I got a really bad beating," Harry said excitedly.
“That’s against school rules,” Hermione said. “If Professor Snape finds out…” “He won’t know as long as you don’t say anything,” Celen said, walking inside and sitting down. “Mrs. Pince can testify that we haven’t left since we came in, and Malfoy has no evidence.”
Harry sat down between Cyrus and Ron, his chest heaving, feeling his heart pounding wildly.
He still can't believe that he somehow ended up joining the Weasley brothers' team that afternoon.
He even offered advice and contributed his invisibility cloak—probably because the person Siren wanted to beat up was Malfoy.
It was precisely because of the invisibility cloak that they came up with this idea.
Harry calmed his racing heart. The thought of kicking Malfoy so hard earlier made him feel an inexplicable sense of relief.
The fatigue from continuous training, the pressure of the game, and the pain of being harassed by Lockhart and Colin all seemed to vanish with Malfoy's scream.
“Remember to call me next time something like this happens,” he said instinctively to Xilun.
“Harry!” Hermione turned her head in disbelief, her voice so loud that it caught Mrs. Pince’s attention.
She quickly lowered her voice, "You can't... Harry, you couldn't have left no trace."
Ron, standing to the side, looked regretful.
For Harry to say that, it must have been a fantastic experience.
But there was no other way; the Invisibility Cloak could only cover two people at most. Adding another person might expose the flaw, so he had no choice but to stay here and cover for Hermione.
"Okay, Harry was just kidding, don't take it so seriously."
Xilun said, standing up first, "Besides, this kind of opportunity doesn't come every day. Tomorrow is the Christmas holiday, and most students will be away from school. They don't have to attend classes during the holiday, so he can't possibly come to our dorm to find us. When school starts again, this matter will just be forgotten."
"I hope so," Hermione said, having no other choice but to believe.
The group returned the book to Mrs. Pince and headed outside.
“By the way, what time do you come to the library to read during your holiday? We can go together,” Hermione said. “I’ll also be staying at Hogwarts for Christmas this year.”
“I probably won’t come to the library during my holidays,” Celen shrugged.
"What?" Hermione thought she had misheard.
“To be honest, I feel like I’ve been a bit too hasty.” Xiren casually flipped through the “Advanced Transfiguration Guide” filled with notes.
“I don’t understand a lot of the content, and reading more of it won’t help at all, so I’ve decided to take a break for a while.”
“That’s more like it,” Ron said with a laugh. “If you ask me, the holidays are for playing Wizard Chess and Crash Blast. I happen to have a new set.”
"No, you misunderstand. For me, making wands is a form of relaxation... Oh, good evening, Professor Snape."
As soon as they stepped out of the library, they encountered Snape coming towards them, followed by three men with bruised and battered faces.
"You did it, didn't you?" Snape looked at Harry and Cyron with a grim expression.
"Gryffindor deduction..."
“Wait a moment, Professor.” Sirens interrupted him, stepping forward to block the remaining three people, while looking into Snape’s eyes.
"I don't know what you mean, but we've been reading in the library since after dinner. Is there some misunderstanding?"
"Impossible!" Malfoy stepped forward angrily. "The one who kicked me in the face was Potter, I know that."
“Excuse me, you are…” Celen squinted and scrutinized him for a while before exclaiming, “Oh, Draco Malfoy. I’m sorry, I didn’t recognize you just now. You look much fatter than before, your face is rounder.”
Malfoy's face not only became rounder, but also turned redder.
His skin is clearly swollen; someone has put belladonna powder in the bags they're wearing!
"you this……"
“Draco,” Snape interrupted him, looking coldly at Cyren, “You said you’ve been in the library the whole time?”
"Yes."
"Never been out?"
"no!"
“I will find out,” Snape said.
“Of course, that’s to be expected,” Siren said considerately. “Mrs. Pince has been sitting by the door, along with several other senior students. If we go out and come back in, it’s impossible to escape all of their eyes.”
"I don't need you to tell me what to do," Snape scoffed.
“Of course, Professor,” Celen said. “Can we go back now? We still have a lot of homework to do.”
