Kobold Wizard's Journal
Chapter 444 Silence and Name
Chapter 444 Silence and Name
The sudden change really startled Ruger.
"We only intended to injure you initially, to discourage you, not to kill you. I can feel the vibrant life force within you, an enviable asset and a boundless future. Young wizard, you don't need to risk your life for things that don't concern you..."
The old man, bound by chains of fire, spoke in a trembling voice.
Ruger sensed the changes in himself, glanced down at the patterns on his body, and memorized the feeling; it seemed that malice had filled every curved line.
At the same time, Ruger also noticed the old man's trembling.
It wasn't just the burning pain of being bound by chains, but also the suppressed restlessness in his heart, the unexpected situation, the inner turmoil—everything was making the old man tremble.
Ruger pondered, he had already prepared a new attempt for the old man, something he couldn't do before.
The chains behind the old man trembled, while the robe that emerged from the chains was slowly burning.
Ruger noticed this phenomenon and raised an eyebrow. The bald old man's state was clearly unsustainable, so he wouldn't give him much time.
A secondary sharpness spell, imbued with the power of faith, condensed on the demon's large hand. Thick malice was wrapped around the sharp fingertips. This was not an ordinary wrapping, but rather a natural flow of malice towards the fingertips after the malice had become abundant, as if the fingertips themselves were about to sprout those patterns.
He could feel his demonic body changing as the battle progressed.
Demons are such wondrous things.
It has tasted fire and blood, and has been grinning since its birth, adapting to changes in the environment. Because of this, some strange demons that are not common species are occasionally born.
"Oh? How is he going to take the risk?"
A man scratching his chest hair slowly descended from the sky and appeared in front of the two.
Glug glug!
The newcomer landed, first gulping down half a bottle of wine before looking at the bald old man who was posing for a fight.
“That looks interesting. I’ll see how he manages to take the risks,” the man said casually.
Ruger blinked, about to bow respectfully, but deliberately delayed for a few seconds.
Unfortunately, the old man did not act impulsively. Even with his own anger and malice, and even with the curse and Kafi's impatience spell, he still held back.
"Lord Zorn."
Ruger had no choice but to bow respectfully.
His actions and address effectively eliminated any possibility of the old man making another move, unless the old man was a fool.
Ruger looked at the old man and indeed heard his address. Seeing him bow respectfully, the old man realized that their actions were related to Valin and that they would naturally have some understanding of him. They knew Zorn's name and his general situation.
For example, wizards who are far beyond the reach of a bald old man like him.
The old man slowly descended, adopting a respectful posture, and was about to speak.
"My lord! Please kill him for me!"
Valin slowly stood up.
Ruger turned around. He had just heard the sound—the sound of something heavy falling to the ground. Now it looked like Mahama was helping Valin up.
Although the big man was supporting the swaying Valin, his big eyes were fixed on Luger.
"grown ups!"
Varin broke free from Mahama's support and took a step forward, but fell again, only managing to steady herself by kneeling on one knee.
But she held one hand high, holding a common-style medicine bottle.
"Please, help me kill him."
Valin held up the medicine bottle and looked at Zorn, who was glancing back at her.
Their eyes met for a fleeting moment. Zorn's eyes flickered slightly as he looked at the medicine bottle, then at Valin, who was supporting herself with one hand on the ground. He smiled and gently waved his hand, and the medicine bottle landed in his hand.
Luger watched from the side, and even took the time to give Mahama a wink and raise an eyebrow.
As the bottle flew toward the wizard Zorn, he sensed that it seemed to be a bottle of demon blood, though he didn't know exactly what kind of demon it was. Valin's confidence in taking it out meant it must be quite valuable.
The bald old man froze in his respectful movements.
When Zorn turned his gaze to him again, the old man hurriedly rummaged through the items that resembled badges.
“Sir, this is our family crest. We come from…”
The old man touched his mouth and suddenly realized he couldn't speak.
Ruger looked at the small beast perched on Zorn's shoulder; it seemed to have swallowed the old man's voice.
He sensed the aura of the dragon race on the little beast, as well as the demonic aura that was indispensable to the wizard Zorn.
Suddenly, the old man stirred up another wave of mental energy, as if he wanted to finish what he had just said through mental energy, as if that could save his life. The meaning behind it was just a futile struggle.
A burst of magic caused the critically injured, dying middle-aged wizard to suddenly stand up and slowly walk towards Valin.
Ruger paused for a moment.
Valin, who had a complicated expression on her face, was also taken aback.
The old man who was stirring up mental energy also quieted down, and like the middle-aged wizard, slowly walked towards Valin, who was kneeling in a strange, crooked posture.
A dagger was thrown at Valin's feet.
Zorn fiddled with the newly acquired medicine bottle, shaking it slightly as he admired the blood flowing inside.
“The price you offered isn’t enough. This is all I can do for you,” Zorn said without looking up.
Ruger raised an eyebrow and looked at Mahama, who had silently come to his side and was standing there quietly.
Valin struggled to her feet, drawing everyone's attention.
Ruger saw no struggle or hesitation in the eyes of this tall female apprentice, only a mixture of grief and joy, without any sense of conflict.
Valin picked up the dagger and cut off the middle-aged wizard's head, then stumbled towards the bald old man.
Ding!Ding!
Most of the daggers that were suddenly thrust down were blocked by the flaming chains.
Valin gripped the dagger with both hands, thrusting again and again with all her might, until the old man's strange scroll-like robe burned away on its own. The first thrust, which pierced deeply, went straight into the old man's heart. Then came the second, the third, as if it would never stop, until she fell down again.
Then she got up again and didn't hold back even on the unconscious wizard apprentice in the distance, only this time she didn't stab him as many times.
Ruger looked at Mahama, and the big guy shrugged.
Valin remained silent for a long time until Ruger was about to invite everyone to enjoy a sumptuous meal, at which point she suddenly came to her senses.
"Lord Zorn! Gillian..."
Valin hurriedly got up.
Ruger suddenly stepped forward and placed his hand near Valin's mouth. At the same time, the little beast on Zorn's shoulder opened its mouth again, causing Valin's last words to disappear.
“No rush, I can already smell the delicious food,” Zorn said with a smile. “What you need to do now is forget Gillian, and especially don’t say her name. Otherwise, with your already exhausted mental strength, you’ll faint again. Let’s enjoy the roast meat first… Wizard Gillian isn’t as weak as you think… Even if you have two combs here… I guess they were left here on purpose, as a clue for us…”
As Zorn spoke, he walked toward the somewhat nervous Aiskin and Big Fool, while a small pouch flew toward Luger.
“They are your prey, and this is your share,” Zorn said without turning his head.
Ruger reached out and caught it. If he wasn't mistaken, the storage bag came from the bald old man.
