Chapter 421 Leisure and Courage

Chapter 421 Leisure and Courage

Luger lay leisurely on the old recliner, his hands behind his head.

All worries and confusion, along with the earth-shattering noise, seemed to be separated by that thin spatial wall. Here, there was an old but comfortable recliner, caring friends, a sleeping magical pet, noisy and lively furry followers, and some delicious food.

Ruger looked around and, upon reflection, felt as if he were already in a beautiful paradise.

But his heart was always on edge, preventing him from truly enjoying the tranquility.

He simply closed his eyes and began to meditate.

Having a peaceful period of quiet meditation is a good thing, Ruger thought.

He arrived before the Silent Seal, watching it slowly rotate and the five demonic marks pulling at it. He calmed himself and began to construct runes again and again. The runes floated towards the seal and merged into it, making the seal rotate more powerfully, like an ancient, unchanging black millstone.

Ruger meditated silently, his mental energy being continuously depleted as runes were created.

He only stopped this seemingly effortless and selfless meditation practice, which had become so skillful that it had become instinctive, when fatigue crept into his heart.

Ruger opened his eyes and touched his chin.

He could already clearly feel that boundary, that so-called limit of mental power.

This is a very interesting thing, and it's a feeling that's become increasingly clear to me recently.

However, Ruger could also feel that every time he put all his effort into meditation and training, his mental strength would indeed increase a little.

According to Mahama and others, this sense of growth after reaching the limit will become less and less obvious, and eventually it will be difficult to feel any significant change.

But as everyone knows, even if the feeling isn't obvious, one's mental strength is actually increasing.

Based on his conversations with these fifth-level wizard apprentices, Ruger deduced that if he were to pursue this ultimate goal, like these guys, depending on his own circumstances and the different meditation methods, he would probably have to stay at this stage for another three to five years, or even longer.

Ruger scratched his head, twitched his ears, and stood up from the recliner.

"Brother Luger."

Aiskin handed him a perfectly cooked piece of roasted meat, blinking her big eyes at him twice.

Big Fool Heng, who was busy by the stove, was also glancing at him from time to time.

Ruger smiled. Since he came in, although he hadn't shown much emotion, the two kobolds had noticed the difference. After all, these two were the people in the world who knew him best, and he usually seemed to be in a hurry, not just sitting here in a daze like he was now.

Three kobolds sat around the pot and took out fine wine.

Ruger smiled slightly as he looked at their concerned eyes.

“There’s a light outside right now, a light you can’t see, but it can hurt my eyes,” Ruger said in a more understandable way. “So for the time being, you’ll have to go out hunting, and I can stay here and sleep in quietly.”

Aiskin and Big Fool paused for a moment, then seemed to breathe a sigh of relief.

Ruger ate his roasted meat, watching their little antics with amusement.

Actually, the food reserves here are quite plentiful. When Ruger strolls around the city, he has developed a habit of buying all sorts of things from time to time.

Aiskin put down the roasted meat and patted her chest: "Don't worry, Brother Luger, I definitely won't let you go hungry. You know, I'm a very good hunter! Even when I was little, I was better than Big Hengheng!"

Big Fool hummed twice in agreement. "Brother Luger."

Big Fool thought for a moment, then patted his chest in the same way.

Luger was amused by them, and the three kobolds began to huddle together, enjoying roast meat and vegetable soup.

Ruger wasn't worried about their hunting skills. Even if they had never seen the sea or gone into the water, as low-level dragonborn, they could still catch a couple of fish. Besides, they were already warriors who had drunk their second potion, not ordinary dragonborn kobolds.

With that thought in mind, Ruger picked up a grilled fish and started eating and chatting.

When he talked to the two kobolds about the outside world and the endless sea, the boundless water seemed to exceed their imagination. Big Fool said that he had been in the water before, but from what he said, it seemed to be a pool of water, and he had been bullied and tricked into going there by his tribesmen, who asked him to catch things that were running around in the water for them to eat.

The two kobolds could imagine a lot of water, and could barely imagine the endless water in Ruger's description, but they couldn't imagine the so-called surging waves. The first time they came to the Endless Sea, they strolled around the island with Ruger and went to the tavern for a meal, but they didn't go to the beach.

As Ruger spoke, he glanced at the spirit hairs in the distance and suddenly paused.

He thought of Lord Kurt, and the power of faith that had promised him but had never been fulfilled.

He thought of the dramatic changes happening outside.

Perhaps he needs to gather the power of faith himself.

Fortunately, his furry friends shouldn't disappoint him.

Ruger took a big bite of the grilled fish, then stuffed the rest of the fish into his mouth.

As the saying goes, "better safe than sorry," so he needs to start preparing now, and not just for this one thing, but to put himself in the best possible condition.

Ruger ate another piece of grilled fish, this time a large one, cut into several pieces for cooking, and then enjoyed the wine that Aiskin had poured for him.

Turn anxiety into motivation, and anxiety into appetite.

Ruger finished his drink and returned to his recliner to begin meditating.

He doesn't pursue perfection, but he can set a goal for changes that are not easily noticeable.

Make good use of this time. You can do other things while you are resting from meditation. For example, he has already planned to go find that guy, Zamao No. 1, after he is tired from two rounds of meditation. Judging from his lively appearance, he should have rested well.

He actually admired the great man outside, the wizard Enom, whom he had only heard of but never seen.

Ruger felt that this guy's magic array might not only encompass the small Chaotic Star Sea and the territory of the Three Flames Divine Palace, but also Inom's own vast territory, numerous islands, and a large number of gods and disciples, which might all be included in this wondrous and enormous magic array. Even those outside the range of the magic array who had received his knowledge might be affected to some extent.

Just as his adversary roared, the High Council would certainly not stand idly by; this wizard possessed admirable courage.

Ruger suddenly opened his eyes. Just like that man's planning and courage, he could perhaps open his mind and speculate more boldly.

For example, as Mahama mentioned, many of the Heavenly Pillar Mountains are connected to the underground cities in the lower realms. When that great man constructed the magic array, he would certainly not overlook this point, as everything is usable to him. For instance, in the several underground regions near Star City, more than one of the underground cities lost its light, or went out of life, over the past few decades.

They suffer from natural wear and tear, human destruction, and even the killing of relatives and friends, like Star City and Dasoya Star City. Or, if that's the case, similar tragedies are all driven by an invisible hand, seeking suitable targets and subtly guiding them. A Heavenly Pillar Mountain, like a mineral vein or the roots of a great tree, may be connected to dozens of underground domains in the lower realms. In terms of both time and manpower, it would be a complex and massive undertaking.

Ruger smacked his lips and lay back down, once again realizing his own insignificance.
