Kobold Wizard's Journal
Chapter 386 Weakness and Strength
Chapter 386 Weakness and Strength
The transformation of life is wonderful.
Ruger pursed his lips. He had even given up on paying attention to the strange, diminutive demon, though he was also quite interested in the little thing. Clearly, the wizarding apprentice, undergoing transformation and advancement, was far more tempting. For a moment, he drifted off, feeling like a diminutive demon himself succumbing to temptation. Then he resolved to stop mocking the uncontrollable little fellow. The ascension rituals created by wizards had successfully targeted its weakness. Everyone has a hidden side; just as Ruger had once sat in a chair with his toes barely touching the ground. No matter how powerful, once one's secrets are revealed and thoroughly investigated, it becomes dangerous.
Kurt's mental energy was also changing, revealing an expression of enjoyment.
And that illusory god of sorrow now looks more real, its aura rising steadily. Many of the twisted parts of its divine body are gone, replaced by new life. At least it no longer looks like the terrifying figure it once was. If it doesn't move, it's just a statue with a slightly unique and eerie style.
Boom!Boom!
The heart of the god of sorrow beat strongly once more.
A series of sounds echoed within the main hall.
Everything around seemed to be cheering, even the two large black iron gates. Previously, a black screaming object had been extracted from those gates to stabilize the demon's figure, and now even more unknown and bizarre things were surging in. The entire damp and dark hall was shaking, as if every brick and stone on the ground was shouting with all its might, offering its own strength.
And where all of this converges is the god of sorrow created by Kurt.
The changes in the gods are giving Kurt more power.
Life is constantly undergoing a beautiful transformation, as if every pore is singing and cheering.
Ruger blinked occasionally. As an observer, a witness who was still somewhat involved in the ritual, and a wizard apprentice of the same level sitting not far away, he seemed to be able to feel the pleasure trembling emanating from every part of his body, even his fingernails.
It should be described as a tremor, a tremor belonging to the beautiful symphony of life.
In terms of life force alone, it is far from as simple as imagined.
The mystery of life has always been a major topic among wizards, and it is an area that high-ranking wizards have been researching.
For example, the immortal wizards, whom most people have heard of but never seen, represent a rather extreme and extraordinary path in the exploration of the mysteries of life. Some immortal wizards have even abandoned their own flesh and blood, and they have a different definition and understanding of the mysteries of life.
Ruger raised his arm and looked at his forearm.
Unbeknownst to him, he was inexplicably infected by the feeling, causing the hair on his arms to stand on end. It was as if he could feel the transformation happening not far away, and his body was instinctively sending out a kind of longing.
Ruger scratched his chin and waved his hand to collect the scraggly creature, Number One, who had been freeloading all night.
A similar sigh of pleasure came from the other side.
Ruger turned his head to look.
The strange, diminutive demon finally finished eating everything on the plate.
It leaned back in its chair, glancing sideways at Luger, then at Kurt sitting in the distance.
This little guy, who seems perfectly fine even with his heart removed, is quite a special fellow, Ruger thought to himself.
Judging by its physique alone, it resembled a normal little devil. But an ordinary little devil without a heart would surely be dead, perhaps only able to linger on for a few more breaths and let out a few cries before reaching its limit. Yet this creature calmly finished its special meal, showing no signs of dying. And its wings and large, curved horns were also features that no little devil could possess. Most little devils at most have a pair of small, pointed horns, and they are not like those at all. This creature's curved horns were as beautiful as brown blood crystals.
Rumble!
A violent tremor ensued.
Kurt finally emanated that vibrant, pulsating mental energy fluctuation that Ruger had seen more than once before—the kind of mental pressure that newly promoted wizards unconsciously exude.
Ruger pursed his lips; he would be promoted soon too.
But for now, we should still respectfully address Kurt as "Master Wizard" and bow properly.
This is said to lead to rapid promotion, but in most people's eyes, no success is no success, and potential doesn't mean anything. Too many people who are about to be promoted end up living mediocre lives and unknowingly passing the remaining hundred or so years of their lives.
Kurt closed his eyes slightly, the final act already underway. The small demon beside him suddenly blurred, just like the scrambling before it sat down. In the instant before blurring, it glanced at Ruger and Kurt, as if trying to memorize their appearance.
Immediately afterwards, the grotesque, incomplete demon vanished from Ruger's sight, leaving the empty seat as a blurry blur that was gradually shrinking.
Ruger glanced at Kurt, who had his eyes closed and was already showing signs of becoming a formal wizard, and subconsciously scratched his chin.
It seems they were so engrossed in watching the spectacle that something was overlooked.
Ruger raised an eyebrow.
Looking at the lonely plate in front of him, he had always felt that something was missing from the dinner: fine wine. How could a dinner be complete without sweet wine?
Thinking of fine wine naturally brings to mind a familiar figure reeking of alcohol.
With a surge of intense mental energy, Kurt finally became a true wizard.
Suddenly, something resembling a standard-sized piece of magic stone flew through the darkness from one side of the hall in a graceful arc, striking the hazy shadow on the empty chair that was about to disappear and subside. After the diminutive demon vanished, the blurry figure on the seat had shrunk to the size of only a fist.
Kurt suddenly opened his eyes.
The dinner, which was about to end, seemed to continue.
Ruger felt a sudden weight on his body, and he was once again restrained in his seat.
clatter! clatter!
Accompanied by footsteps, a man scratched his chest hair, his mouth agape as if he was sleep-deprived, and yawned as he emerged from the shadows.
Even if the yawn hadn't actually hit Luger, he could imagine it must have had a strong, mixed smell of cheap liquor.
Zorn the Wizard.
Zorn walked along yawning, not looking at Luger or the serious-looking Kurt, but instead first examining the empty seat where he had tossed a pebble.
The hazy shadow, which had shrunk to the size of a fist, began to expand once again as Zorn threw in the strange object.
Gradually, it regained its human form.
To be precise, they were some humanoid demonic figures, which, like last time, were constantly changing shape.
Ruger glanced to the side.
Kurt, who should have been experiencing the changes that come with his advanced abilities, was already displaying an expression on his face that was just as intense as the figure on the chair.
"My lord—"
Kurt watched Zorn's focused figure.
The wizard Zorn simply held up a finger beside him, and Luger couldn't help but roll his eyes. Sure enough, the mark of the witch hunter slowly appeared.
"Witch hunter, handle the witch hunting incident."
Zorn said something simple, interrupting Kurt, while his eyes remained fixed on the changing figures on the empty chair.
“Your Excellency, please continue your advancement,” Zorn said.
