Kobold Wizard's Journal

Chapter 362 Experiments and Rituals

Chapter 362 Experiments and Rituals

While bloodletting is important, meditation should not be neglected either.

Ruger decided to meditate after bleeding today. He wouldn't rush to draw blood from Aiskin and Big Fool. If he told the two guys too early, they would probably keep thinking about it and might even secretly draw blood in the bedroom. The two dragonborn kobolds were always happy to help him and would do their best.

Ruger thought that next time he went back to the old lair of that demon hunter wizard, he could check if there were any more or stronger potions for advancing warriors. This time, when he left that hut, after calculating the merit stones needed for the ascension ritual, he swallowed back all the words that were on the tip of his tongue. He dared not ask or look at anything outside of the ascension ritual, for fear that if he looked too much, he would be unable to resist something and use up all his merit stones. Theoretically speaking, he would inevitably encounter something that he couldn't resist.

He believed this was a common problem for most wizards.

Resources are never enough.

The same applies to the path of faith in wizards.

Ruger suddenly realized that the Supreme Council's decision to allow these people to develop in the Endless Sea was an extremely wise one.

Different islands naturally have different boundaries, and even if there are disputes, they are concentrated in different sea areas. The size and value of the islands also vary. Some remote islands have lower value, which leaves a living space for wizard apprentices. Similarly, because of the vastness of the endless sea, those who believe in the path of wizards are constantly exploring new habitable sea areas and paying a certain price to relocate their believers there.

For some reason, Luger thought of the City of Burning Blood, such a large city, a strange blood sun, on the day the Blood Fortress was destroyed, and in the conversation between the two wizards standing high in the sky, it all seemed like the experimental field of an even more powerful wizard.

Ruger inexplicably made a connection.

I felt that this endless sea was like a perfect, much larger experimental platform, thousands of times bigger.

The Supreme Council has permitted the faith wizards to develop here, and the Supreme Council is the experimenter. Some wizards who are determined to follow this path can be regarded as willing experimental subjects. The Supreme Council observes the faith wizards on the endless sea like mice on an experimental table.

Luger also found his place.

These witch hunters, or not only them, but also other busy people like them, are the maintainers of order in this millennia-old experiment.

Are religious shamans worthy of observation?

It seems that the Supreme Council has high expectations for the faith wizards.

Perhaps it wasn't just about having an experimental subject; besides following the path of the wizard, exploring this endless, strange, and boundless sea was also one of its purposes.

Ruger collected the five full bottles of blood, ending today's bloodletting session.

The thought that he was about to advance to the next level filled him with excitement. He believed that he would not suffer the same fate as the old drunkard and Karyu, and that he would succeed on his first try.

The transformation of life will be a completely new experience.

He entered a meditative state, filled with anticipation.

He awakened the Blood Curse Doll, which perched on his shoulder and kept watch for him.

He didn't care much about Mahama's dissatisfaction that he had noticed during the day. He still had plenty of time. Even if the wizard Zorn was a little lazy, he could meditate here or rent a refining room to purify his blood.

Moreover, he held a different view from Mahama, believing that Zorn should be a rather excellent witch hunter.

He made this judgment when he saw Zorn dealing with the demon, and it wasn't his opinion that changed after he received a small bag of money.

Nothing was said that night. The inexplicable revelry continued for another three days.

This is the last thing that has surprised Ruger so far since he arrived here.

It seems that the ordinary-looking god of sorrow on this island really enjoys making the islanders laugh.

Meanwhile, the wizard Zorn was drunk for three more days. Ruger did not see him eat, meditate, or conduct experiments. Every day, he simply repeated the same routine: appearing here during the day to get drunk and sleep soundly, and then going out in the evening to find a suitable place to enjoy various kinds of fine wines.

Ruger spent most of the three days meditating in his room.

This is the reality for most wizards, even the more demanding Inquisitors. Joining a large organization and gaining benefits and rewards is compensation for sacrificing a wizard's personal time and energy to perform certain tasks. Higher-ranking Inquisitors tend to be less active, as an experiment might take ten or twenty years to complete without leaving the laboratory. Of course, the sheer number of lower-ranking wizards and the greater number of those who violate the rules also contribute to this.

Ruger patted the back of his hand.

That guy, Zamao No. 1, hasn't woken up since he tied himself up in a knot during the last trial.

He also sent the Blood Curse Doll to investigate, and it turned out the guy was still alive and wasn't pretending to be asleep.

Ruger got up and stretched.

He first removed his robe to complete the consumption and replenishment of five temporary spell slots. The closer he got to the advancement, the more he wanted the five demonic marks to devour more of the pre-stored spells. As for the stinginess spell on the fifth demonic mark, he had actually considered replacing it with a lesser sharpness spell or a lightness spell. However, firstly, he had already allowed the stinginess spell to reside in the demonic mark, and secondly, he had always felt that the stinginess spell would bring some good changes to his composite spells. Perhaps the composite spells after their creation would not have similar effects to the stinginess spell, but they would be changed accordingly because of the existence of the stinginess spell.

This was what he had been looking forward to, and it filled him with anticipation. All he needed to do was accumulate things step by step and wait for the moment it would happen.

The five demonic marks were being stretched longer and longer during meditation, with one end becoming extremely thin and being pulled and tangled into the Silent Demonic Seal.

After completing the routine training, the next step is the spiritual nourishment technique for the entire body.

Although he no longer needs the Shepherd Ascension Ritual, which he has always kept as a backup, he still hasn't given up on nourishing the spirit hair.

After a busy period, I meditated to restore my mental energy.

He put on a dark outfit he had just bought in the city, pushed open the door, and walked out of the room.

"Lord Ruger."

Mahama greeted them and handed them three magic stones.

"Thank you so much."

Ruger accepted it with a smile.

This is the kind of large, rather than the standard, cute kind that's commonly used. He also had these, but he'd used some up over time. This ascension ritual required ten of them, so he negotiated with Mahama to exchange some of the standard-sized magic stones for them.

The big guy was happy to help, and even asked Ruger if he had considered selling some merit stones. This made Ruger realize that merit stones were in high demand because there were many buyers, but no one wanted to sell them.

Now, with these three pieces added, he has just enough for the ten pieces needed for the ceremony.
