Chapter 351 Demons and Minds
The man paused for a moment upon hearing Luger's words.
This vague statement wasn't because Ruger was trying to keep things secret. After all, his abilities weren't in modifying bloodline wizards, nor was he a true bloodline wizard. He just didn't have a clear future yet and wanted to see more, gain more knowledge, and do more thinking.
After mentioning his bloodline and connection to the dragon race, Luger remained leaning back in his chair, deep in thought.
Suddenly, a strange aura wafted through the air.
Ruger raised his head and glanced at the man calmly.
The young apprentice who had been so respectful just moments before now had a flushed face, two thumb-length horns sprouting from his head, and a grin on his face, looking every bit the devil.
Squeak——
The long fingernails left scratches of varying lengths on the chair armrests.
Ruger remained seated, raising an eyebrow at him.
The scratches on the chair were both new and old, clearly indicating that they were not made all at once, and that this was not the first time such a thing had happened.
The man gripped the handrails with both hands, closed his eyes, tilted his head back, and let out a long breath.
"need any help?"
"Ruger said softly."
"Phew, not bad, haven't felt like this in a while," the man said, rubbing his head. "I'm really sorry, some nasty and boring guy tried to play a trick on me. I could have controlled myself perfectly well, I've been in great shape lately, so it was definitely that guy who played the trick on me..."
As the young man spoke, the little horn on his head had already disappeared back into place.
Looking at Luger in front of him, he suddenly paused and changed the subject.
"Maybe it's that guy... that guy wants to use my sudden change to mess with you. What a terrible... boring guy. It can't get out, so it always likes to mess with new blood that it's interested in, because people who have been here for a long time won't pay attention to it."
The man shrugged as he spoke, then stood up, straightened his robe, and sat back down.
"it is this?"
Ruger shifted his foot and said softly.
"Yes, it's the guy right under your feet..."
The young man spoke, still looking somewhat shaken.
Ruger stared at him, noticing his complexion, which hadn't fully recovered. He thought he resembled one of the people on the verge of losing control in the City of Burning Blood, but there was something different about him.
A strange feeling.
"You... are you a demon?"
"Ruger said in a deep voice."
A rather bold conjecture.
The young man paused for a moment, then smiled and looked at Ruger. “Sharp-witted lad, of course not, not for a long time, and you should learn to respect me,” the man said. “You disciples of demon wizards, students of students, I am already quite old.”
A demon, is it really a demon?
What is this? It's not a bloodline wizard borrowing the bloodline of some demon, but a real demon being transformed into a human?
Did it do it itself? Obviously not, and it doesn't look like it was completely successful.
That's why he said he had never been able to become a full-fledged wizard.
"Sir, here is what you requested."
The young man's complexion gradually returned to normal, and he placed a half-unfolded scroll in front of Ruger.
"Leave your secret mark in the corner, and you can go see it."
Ruger watched as he left his secret mark, then seemed to be adjusting something, before finally removing his hand after a brief moment of activity.
“Don’t look at me like that, you sharp-witted and curious brat. Of course I can cast spells like a wizard’s apprentice, and of course I have my own arcane mark. Otherwise, how could I be competent for this job…” His voice was already a little hoarse, no longer the same as before, and his complexion, which had just recovered, changed again as he spoke. He quickly let out a long breath and stopped looking at Ruger.
Ruger pursed his lips, but he didn't say anything or ask any rude questions. He just stared at the person with a hint of curiosity in his eyes.
He did as instructed and left his secret mark on one corner of the unfurled scroll.
Scrolls that cannot be unfolded any further can be flipped through at will.
The mark he left behind shrank into a small black dot in one corner of the scroll, where rows of numerous small black dots had already gathered.
As he tentatively unfurled the scroll, one end seemed endless, not becoming thinner or lighter with the unfurling motion.
His gaze was quickly drawn to the names on the list, but unfortunately, he couldn't find any detailed information, only the names and extremely brief descriptions.
Ruger was momentarily overwhelmed by the choices, but that feeling quickly faded.
There are indeed quite a few ascension rituals recorded here, and most of them are complete and effective. Some are flawed or incomplete, but they are also included, marked with special symbols, and can be exchanged for. They are probably for wizards to experiment with and reference. Perhaps one day a wizard will come up with an idea and complete the missing ones.
Not many meet the requirements.
Moreover, the descriptions suggest that the effects are generally weak, as most are not focused on bloodline enhancement rituals but rather offer superficial side effects. The fact that so many bloodline wizards exist in this world, yet they behave this way, is truly unexpected for Ruger; it seems to be a far more difficult matter than he imagined.
The Mind Dragon Guardian Ascension Ceremony requires 31,000 Merit Stones.
It's a good choice for those with spiritual deficiencies, but also a helpless one. The best way is naturally to heal the wounds in one's heart and not let oneself have any shortcomings. However, no one is born perfect. Some people regard their path as wizarding as a pursuit of foolish perfection. But even a wizard who has undergone transformation and sublimation time and time again, when the flesh and blood body is infinitely close to perfection, still cannot make up for the wounds in the heart. Using magic to help create a spiritual dragon during the sublimation and let it protect you is also a good way.
With the Mind Dragon Guardian present, enemies of the same level will find it difficult to shake you with illusionary spells. Even those troublesome soul spells involving the soul realm will find it hard to exploit your mental vulnerabilities. Of course, you still cannot avoid the effects of the spells. It is more about protecting your mental wounds. The Mind Dragon will grow with the Ascended One, but it will always be just a foolish and loyal guardian clinging to the wounds of the soul. True strength comes from healing the wounds and becoming a near-perfect person.
When creating a Mind Dragon, using dragon blood can simplify the process considerably. The dragon blood should not be too strong, as it will carry the will of the dragon race. While this faint influence may not be noticeable in ordinary experiments, it can have extremely negative effects on the creation of a Mind Dragon Guardian. It is recommended to take any Dragon Blood-based Fighter Potion to become a Fighter, thus resolving the dragon blood issue. Furthermore, the Fighter's Mark will be more helpful in creating the Mind Dragon during the ascension process.
Becoming such a fighter also has a positive side effect: when the Mind Dragon Guardian slumbers on a wounded soul, it resonates with the Fighter's Mark, slowly increasing the strength of the dragon bloodline. There are countless strange dragons in the world, and those that feed on wounds and prevent them from spreading, such a unique Mind Dragon, can also be considered a true dragon.
