Kobold Wizard's Journal

Chapter 334 Abnormal and Normal

Chapter 334 Abnormal and Normal

The three walked slowly along the street.

Big Fool and Aiskin carried their respective weapons, looking around curiously as they walked.

Ruger also stopped putting on the so-called face covering.

Originally, he wanted to blend into the crowd and learn more about the place, since it was a completely unfamiliar place for him. However, the changes that followed were very different from what he had initially imagined, so there was no need to hide anymore. The identity of the God-given was also very useful. In the eyes of others, they were clearly three strange, hairy God-given beings.

Ruger walked along, lost in thought.

On this island, cities with twin temples like this are certainly few and far between. While eavesdropping on the chatter at the tavern, they mentioned a port city, expressing envy for the abundance of jobs there, yet still considering it an honor to live there. Therefore, this unassuming little town might already be the center of the island. And if that's the case, a situation like that of Sir Waglen's family, occurring in the inner city, would definitely attract the attention of the twin temples.

This is something that, under normal circumstances, would be handled by the Twin Temples; it is a dangerous supernatural event.

He, the first messenger of the Spirit Hair God, was the extra one, an outsider and superfluous element outside the normal process.

The so-called Twin Temples are currently closed, and have been closed for some time, supposedly to bless believers, and to bear the suffering for their sins along the thorny path.

Normally, if several wizard apprentices were jointly operating an island, then when something unusual happened in the city, the God of the Rat would naturally have to deal with it. Even if he seemed to be a carefree person who didn't fight or compete, he wouldn't sit idly by. At most, he would only take action after seeing that these outsiders, the gifted ones, were unable to handle the situation.

Ruger looked up at the astonishing sight in the distance.

This place is already very secluded, and it is the road leading to the Twin Temples. In the distance, you can see a large patch of green and black thorns growing into the air, forming a cluster in the middle of the ground. The thorns look like a wave surging over and fixing itself there, enveloping the entire complex of buildings.

Ruger gradually stopped and turned to walk back the way he came.

Seeing that he seemed to be deep in thought, Da Sha Heng and Ai Si Jin didn't say anything and just followed silently.

With these two tall figures by his side, Ruger wasn't afraid of being disturbed while he was thinking. People could see him from afar, and they would either take a detour or bow their heads in respect from a distance. The treatment that ordinary divinely gifted people received was not as exaggerated as when he first appeared in his wizard's robes.

As Ruger walked, he sensed it in his mind.

He was sensing the arcane mark he had left behind. When he met the guy with the long ears in the first tavern, Ruger found him interesting and a bit strange, so he secretly left an arcane mark on him before leaving.

Sure enough, it was a tavern again.

Ruger looked up at the swaying, dilapidated wooden plank, on which was carved a wine glass and something overlapping, too old to make out clearly, but probably a skewer of roasted meat.

The sensation of the secret mark is inside.

As soon as Ruger entered the tavern, he heard a burst of laughter.

The tavern in the inner city is a little more spacious than the one before, and the seats are spaced a bit wider, but only slightly. The larger tables and chairs are still old, and some of the dirt is difficult to remove.

The only thing that remained unchanged was the laughter.

Even when the three God-given Rugers entered, the dim tavern made it impossible to discern their features from a distance.

Ruger chose a spot and walked over silently, observing the laughing crowd as he went.

As expected, the center of the laughter was a guy with long ears. Unlike last time, the people sitting with him were no longer the two friends from before. Or rather, he was a talkative person who was not awkward at all. Whenever he went to a tavern, wherever he sat, that place became his friend. Due to his peculiar appearance, even strangers in his usual haunts vaguely knew that he existed.

Luger led Aiskin and Big Fool to sit down.

The task of taking orders for food and drinks was left to Aiskin, a kobold girl who was already perfectly capable of handling the job. It was the waiters who had to tremble on the sidelines.

Ruger observed the long ears and regretted not arriving sooner to witness the start of this uproar.

"You fool, hahaha! You said you made a bet with the sailor... Even if you win, he won't come back... He can only return to the embrace of the gods, while his body is given to the monsters of the endless sea, and in the end, your bet money... remains in your dreams! Hahaha!" Someone said in the dimly lit tavern, and the gradually subsiding laughter rose again like waves.

The two dog-headed men were studying the menu.

Ruger looked at the guy and noticed that the long-eared man had an annoyed and helpless look on his face. He occasionally mentioned some news that he had obtained from who-knows-where, as if to show off his good connections, which was eventually met with a burst of cheerful laughter.

Long Ears seemed to be so angry with those people that he stopped talking. He tried to explain, but it only made the gradually subsiding wave of laughter surge further into the distance.

Ruger discovered once again that this guy didn't seem to be really humiliated or angry, at least that's what he thought.

The meal that Aiskin and Da Shaheng had carefully ordered was served one after another.

The three kobolds began to raise their glasses and enjoy their drink.

Perhaps the appearance of the divinely inspired being was too intimidating, because the three kobolds were very satisfied with the speed at which the food was served. They had barely drunk half of their first cup of wine when everything was already on the table.

Aiskin and Da Shaheng ate heartily while exchanging words, seemingly studying the restaurant's signature dishes.

After they had finished eating everything on the table, the three kobolds sipped the newly served fruit wine.

Ruger remained seated after finishing his meal. The two kobolds, knowing his reasons, sat quietly, sipping their drinks alongside him.

He had been observing the long ears with great interest.

He originally just wanted to find out some things, but now he's also interested in Long Ears himself.

Ruger suddenly raised his hand and placed a shiny silver moon coin on the table.

The two kobolds immediately tilted their heads back and drank the wine in their glasses. They knew this was the signal to set off. As for the coins on the table, that was because the waiter hadn't charged them for the meal after seeing their appearance.

"We can begin our after-dinner walk..."

Ruger said in a low voice, then got up and walked outside.

Long Ears has already left the tavern.

With the secret mark in place, Ruger wasn't in a hurry.

He left the tavern and slowly followed behind Long Ears, out of the inner city and into the outer city, gradually heading towards a secluded spot.

The long-eared man probably only had enough money to occasionally have a drink at a tavern in the inner city. He had no money to stay overnight or travel elsewhere, so he could only return to his home in the outer city. Logically speaking, a divinely gifted person with such distinctive features should easily be treated with courtesy by the nobles of the inner city, but he was a special case.

After turning a corner, a small grove of trees appeared; even in the outer city, this place was considered extremely remote.

Luger paused in his steps.

I had just turned the corner when I saw that long-eared guy kneeling there.

"My esteemed lords, how may I be of service..."

After saying that, Long Ears forced a wide grin and made an ugly face.

Ruger could see the sweat on his forehead, rolling down as he grimaced.
