Kobold Wizard's Journal
Chapter 300 Success and Failure
Chapter 300 Success and Failure
“Welcome to wake up, the smartest and strongest kobold girl in the world,” Ruger said with a smile.
Strength and intelligence are the words Aiskin loves to hear most, and they are also the words she cares about most about herself. Strength is beautiful and wonderful among kobolds, while intelligence is what she, as a special kobold, has always cared about most.
Big Fool also came closer, grunting as he looked at it.
Aiskin blinked, looked around, glanced at Big Fool, then at Luger, and blinked twice more before finally showing a look of realization.
"I succeeded?"
Aiskin asked tentatively.
Luger smiled and nodded, handing him a cup of tea.
Aiskin downed her drink in one gulp, glanced at the stone bed beside her, put down her cup, rushed over, and lifted the stone up in one swift motion.
"I'm stronger than before!"
Aiskin said happily.
Luger nodded, it seemed that he had really succeeded. This was the most basic improvement in physical strength for a fighter's advancement. He just didn't know what abilities Aiskin had awakened in the Nightmare Fighter.
Luger did not urge him.
After letting Aiskin laugh and joke around enough, she called the kobold girl to her side.
It seems that Aiskin thought success was simply an increase in power, and was delighted with it.
"Brother Luger, I'm really strong now, I should be able to beat Big Humhu down..."
Aiskin spoke with eagerness, and it seemed she wanted to have a match with Big Fool. The two dragonborn kobolds usually practiced in the Abyss Bedroom space, and any progress they made could be immediately seen after another match.
"What did you see in your dreams?" Ruger asked.
Aiskin paused for a moment, tilting her large head as she thought about it.
“When I got there, I didn’t see you, and I thought you had abandoned me… So I called out, and after a few times, a scary giant mushroom appeared, so big, so big, it moved, and it even had a mouth… It chased me, bit me, and bumped into me, and it hurt so much… Then I suddenly remembered what Brother Luger said, so I went over and hit it,” Aiskin said angrily. “Its head was so hard, so I tore at it, and then I remembered you said you were going to eat it, so I started eating, one mushroom after another…”
As Aiskin spoke, she gestured with her fists.
Ruger raised an eyebrow.
"Lots of mushrooms?" he said.
He clearly remembered that all the people Old Lunser had found, during their advanced awakening after taking the potion, had only encountered one large mushroom. Even that sleepy fighter was no exception.
Aiskin nodded vigorously: "After killing one mushroom, I wasn't afraid anymore, and they taste really good... I just kept eating them, and I even wanted to bring some back for you..."
Ruger smiled and nodded. If Aiskin knew it was a dream, it would be easier to handle, at least she wouldn't be frightened by something she'd never seen before. Unfortunately, no matter how much he instructed her, she still couldn't stay so-called awake after entering the dream and remained deeply immersed in it. But perhaps this way the advancement would be more effective.
"I kept beating them, and the more I ate, the happier I became..."
Aiskin blinked contentedly, seemingly still savoring the taste.
"Feel it, follow your heart's guidance, and besides becoming stronger, you will have other abilities."
Ruger spoke softly, guiding Aiskin to discover it.
In fact, he was already mentally prepared. Aiskin's situation seemed to be somewhat special. Her heart was purer, her mastery of the power of the warrior was astonishing, and she was also a dragonborn kobold who had eaten a lot of nightmare creations.
Therefore, it may be impossible to uncover all of her changes at once.
As Aiskin spoke excitedly, she tilted her head and began to ponder. As she pondered, the transformed fighter mark faintly appeared.
She also curiously examined her own fighter mark. Although her fighter mark had stopped changing, it was now a size larger than Da Shaheng's fighter mark. Even if Da Shaheng could continue to change, it would take him a long time to catch up with her.
Aiskin looked down at her fist, seemingly lost in thought.
Ruger smiled and said, "Come on, let me experience your enhanced abilities."
Despite being shorter than these two dragonborn kobolds, he is quite strong.
Aiskin blinked, looking hesitant, but still tried to throw a punch. The moment her fist touched Ruger's shoulder, a wave of drowsiness washed over her, but he possessed the powerful mental strength of a fifth-level wizard apprentice, so she was able to maintain her smile. Seeing that he was alright, Aiskin threw a second punch, one after another, gradually unleashing her full power.
Ruger felt the drowsiness growing stronger, which must be the useless ability that old Lenser had mentioned. But Ruger could sense that Aiskin was still not using her full strength.
Aiskin suddenly stopped throwing a punch and looked at her hand thoughtfully.
Immediately afterward, Ruger noticed a change in her demeanor. Instead of becoming sharp, she became tepid, as if she had transformed from a lively and vibrant person into an inconspicuous one who had lost her vitality in the blink of an eye.
"Brother Luger, I...I..."
Aiskin remained in that state, raising her head and scratching herself, seemingly unable to think of the right words to describe it for the moment.
"You, are you sleeping, or are you awake?" Ruger thought of old Lunser's previous description.
That was the ability of another fighter, one that Old Lenser greatly admired, describing him as an excellent guardian.
Aiskin paused for a moment, then nodded rapidly, instantly snapping out of that state and regaining her agility. Old Lenser had previously stated that this state was controllable and couldn't be maintained during intense combat; that semi-conscious state would only lead to death in battle.
Ruger paced back and forth.
Judging from Aiskin's appearance, she seems to have combined the various abilities that Old Renser discovered during his busy day, which seems to be a good result.
He turned to look at Aiskin, the kobold girl still tilting her head in thought, but seemed somewhat mentally exhausted. After the initial joy, the battle in the dream during the advanced awakening seemed to have taken a toll on her spirit.
"That's it for today."
"Ruger said."
"Don't overthink it, and don't be anxious. Just follow your heart..."
Ruger smiled as he looked at the two kobolds. He knew them, so he wasn't just talking to Aiskin alone.
Aiskin nodded: "Brother Luger, I'm so sleepy..."
"Get some rest."
After Luger finished speaking, he opened a portal and stepped out.
I stepped back into the small attic.
He looked out the window and deduced the approximate time from the stinginess of the blood-red sun.
He shifted his body and lay down on the bed, habitually engaging in another round of meditation before truly relaxing.
Just as he drifted off to sleep, he sensed a fleeting aura of the Nightmare World in a certain direction from the City of Burning Blood.
He opened his eyes, but instead of waking up from his dream, he saw the dream tree with its branches intertwined, hand in hand.
"So it was all a dream this time," Luger thought.
Every time he dreamed, he would enter this fixed dream. Instead of rushing to escape, he began to think. He had just inadvertently sensed that those infected bloodlines were still active at night. He suddenly felt that this matter might be a little unusual.
He hadn't thought this way before because he didn't know much, although those wild associations were already quite frightening. However, after experiencing Mr. Nuondo's situation and learning more, he felt that this matter might be a little more complicated than he had imagined. For example, his previous guesses about these people—some unknown wizards—assisting the infected bloodline in locating this place in the Nightmare World, and what they were doing, now required taking the old statue gentleman into account.
Previously, the old statue had led a group of people here to stop the investigation of the bloodline infected, such as the black and white cat lady, but at that time Luger did not know his background. After Mr. Nuondo's incident, he learned about the God Inspection Council and also learned about the old statue's identity.
This makes things even more interesting. How could such a powerful wizarding force, a pillar-level organization, make such a mistake? Did they lack the means to detect the aura of the Nightmare World? Or did they simply not consider that those guys might have someone assisting them, might be involved in the Nightmare World, or might have a larger scheme? Should they go and tell him? Is that old statue the highest-ranking wizard sent to handle this matter?
Luger sat cross-legged under the tree, pondering as he slowly shook his head.
A possible reward is not worth as much as one's own life. The reward is based on the other party's genuine oversight. If not, unintentional becomes intentional, and his act of rushing to ask for the reward becomes actively exposing the other party. As for what is exposed, that is not important, because he is too weak, so there can only be one outcome.
Mr. Nuondo's existence was to assist the old man with the statue and his group. Although it couldn't compare to his perception through the two trees in the dream, he was still able to sense something. Nuondo wasn't sensing the aura of the Nightmare World; rather, as a fake infected bloodline, he was unintentionally spying on something, and that was enough. For such a powerful organization, this clue alone was sufficient. If there was no breakthrough progress, it was enough to explain something.
Ruger rolled his eyes, adjusted his position, tilted his head, and fell asleep.
In order to get a good night's sleep, he deliberately broke free from the dream, hoping that he wouldn't dream again after falling asleep this time.
No one would know that he would deliberately wake up in order to get a good night's sleep, just as no one would know that he has the Dream Tree, and no one would think that he knows those things.
