Kobold Wizard's Journal
Chapter 235 Rabbit and Door
Chapter 235 Rabbit and Door
Ruger blinked. This was an answer he had never expected. At the same time, he silently noted down the other things the old wizard had said, as a kind of extra reward. He figured the other party probably meant the same thing, or maybe he just wanted to chat.
After he silently made a note of it, the old wizard's figure still lingered, as if he wanted to say something more.
He felt that the old wizard, whose back was the only part of his body he could see, seemed to be lost in thought, or perhaps he had realized something.
Is that wizard, whose back I only saw, still in this world? Ruger wondered.
The rabbit Tuzel had an exceptionally long lifespan.
Suddenly, the old wizard waved his hand, and the scene vanished.
Luger also opened his eyes.
A small piece of magic stone floated up from the well and finally came to rest in front of Ruger.
Ruger raised an eyebrow.
The magic stone just kept floating there, as if waiting for him to take it.
He could feel a force trying to carry him out of this strange place, but another force was protecting him.
He stroked his chin and examined it carefully.
This thing looks like a magic stone, but it's a little different. It's the same size as the standard cut magic stones, but the color is slightly different. Also, if you look closely, there are some engraved lines.
Ruger reached out and grabbed it.
The instant he grasped it, he understood that the protective force originated from this small, magic-stone-like rock before him; otherwise, he would have been thrown out after using up his three chances, perhaps even out of the crevice. He imagined that many years ago, the two wizard apprentices who questioned the rabbit would have possessed such a stone.
He thought to himself that he could probably buy some more time.
Luger sat down directly by the well.
Enter a meditative state.
Just as he entered a meditative state, he opened his eyes again; the stone seemed abnormal.
He sensed it carefully and realized that the stone seemed to be imbued with the power emanating from the spirit world. It was perfectly integrated into the well and could be considered a nice little gift. It was a consumable item that could temporarily increase one's spirituality. It could be used when facing a choice and hesitating, or when there was no inspiration for an experiment. However, once it was exhausted, it would probably just become an ordinary little magic stone.
This wizard, whose back is the only part of his body visible, seems to really understand the spirit world.
Luger happily gripped the spiritual stone and entered a meditative state once more.
Spirituality is not destiny, and besides, he doesn't even believe in destiny.
He stood on the calm, boundless sea of spirit, looking up at the spell models that swirled and floated around the five demonic marks. He didn't want to leave the problem to the well, but he could also use the special environment here and the rich spirituality to inspire his own ideas. As for the spiritual stone, he didn't plan to use it now.
A flash of inspiration struck, and my thoughts flowed smoothly.
After much hesitation, the matter was finally settled. Ruger looked at the spell models, empowered the spell model of the Stingy Spell, and projected it into the fifth and widest magic slit. Thus, all the temporary spell slots had their own inhabitants. He would use them frequently to make them more harmonious, in anticipation of the birth of the final composite spell.
Luger stood there one last time, looking at all the things he had gathered along the way, wondering when they would blossom and bear fruit, and what kind of fruit they would produce.
He exited his meditative state, and the force of repulsion was already very strong.
He immediately touched the spiritual stone in his hand and disappeared from the well in the blink of an eye.
With a creaking sound, the rabbit rolled over on the recliner.
It seemed to have lost its usual angry and cursing demeanor, appearing quite at ease and relaxed, though also a little lonely.
“It seems you still have some trouble sleeping,” Ruger said softly.
Rabbit Tuzel suddenly turned his head, his eyes widening as he stared straight at him.
Ruger left and appeared in front of the rabbit hut. There were no other wizard apprentices around. He had originally planned to fight the eyeless and earless canine monster that kept staring at him.
“You, you you you you you…”
The rabbit climbed up from the recliner, leaped down, and spoke with trembling lips. Then, it paused for a moment, raised its hand, and straightened its slightly wrinkled clothes.
"You, you... asked? You did it?" Rabbit Tuzel stared at him and said, "You really did it?"
Ruger shook the spiritual stone in his hand.
Rabbits have probably seen this thing more than once.
The rabbit smoothed its long ears and began walking in circles with its hands behind its back. After one circle, it stared wide-eyed at the rock, then walked two more circles, before staring again intently at the rock in its hands. "Don't rush, I'll be ready soon, handsome young man! Don't be hasty! Don't panic, I'll be quick, I promise!"
The rabbit spun around twice more, then lifted the recliner and threw it away.
"I think I'm ready."
After all that struggling, the rabbit finally stood still.
Luger was about to speak.
"Is that a step that allows me to leave? Is it a condition that can be met immediately? I don't think so. That guy is always like that. But it's good to know. As long as I know, I'm sure I can do it."
As the rabbit spoke, it began to urge them on again.
Ruger resisted the urge to roll his eyes; if he weren't going to tell it, he would have knocked it unconscious.
“I think you’ve done it,” Ruger said. “I saw the vision left by that man in the well. His exact words were, ‘I hope you can learn to lie, learn to tell a lie! Then you will truly live!’ And his experiment was a success… Finally, he wished you good luck.”
Ruger slowly repeated what he had heard.
Each word has a proper pause to ensure that the sentence can be spoken clearly in one go.
The rabbit, too, stared intently at him, watching his every move, even noticing the slightest tremor in his voice and the subtle changes in the corners of his mouth.
This was also the first time Luger had ever seen its eyes so wide open.
"I think I can leave now."
Luger suddenly spoke, startling the rabbit, who had been stunned for a while, back to reality.
It should have sensed something long ago, before the apprentices even entered the house, at the moment the lie was completed. If there were any special restrictions, it should have sensed something when the lie was revealed, unless the rabbit had gone mad from being there.
"Want to leave together? Or do you have any other way of leaving?" Ruger asked.
"Haha, of course! I certainly have other ways, but I'll still go with you! It'll be a great experience too."
The rabbit laughed as it approached Luger.
Ruger glanced at it and touched the spiritual stone in his hand again.
The lingering repulsive force finally found an outlet and suddenly converged around him.
The light shimmered.
Ruger appeared in the cave from before, with the tilted, broken door frame behind him.
A small campfire was about to go out, but Leiden was nowhere to be seen.
Ruger glanced around; he had been worried the rabbit would make a fuss about the door, but the rabbit just stood there quietly.
He called out "Squeak!" and brought the man and the rabbit to the ground.
Ruger stood up, shaking off the dirt, and looked up to find Leiden.
The rabbit gazed at the scenery for a while, then suddenly said, "Maybe, perhaps... maybe I'm not in such a hurry to leave. Hmm, I need to rest for a while... Yes, I need to rest. Thank you very much. Oh, by the way, my door is broken. I need to find some damn rotten wood of the right size to fix it. These past few days, you annoying little wizard apprentices have been making a ruckus, like a whole litter of baby rabbits. I haven't had time to fix that door. It should have been fixed a long time ago..."
Luger looked at it in surprise.
"Of course, you're quite nice. May I know your name?"
As Rabbit Tuzel spoke, he reached out and opened a door in the air, grabbed the doorknob, and stepped halfway inside.
"Luger".
he said casually.
"What a nice name, only slightly inferior to mine, Tuzel. I've memorized your scent; I'll visit you sometime. Oh, by the way," the rabbit paused, about to close the invisible door, then poked its head out, "leave your secret mark on me so I can find you more easily. Although you look silly and not very pretty, with that long beak, you're a trustworthy fellow. Yes, here, here is fine..."
Ruger blinked, raised his hand, tilted his head, and offered his long ears to the rabbit, leaving his secret mark.
Then, the door slammed shut, leaving Luger standing there.
Of course, there was also a bonfire burning brightly in the distance.
