Chapter 232 Rabbit and Carrot
Chapter 232 Rabbit and Carrot
Drizzle! Splash!
A strange rabbit hummed an unpleasant song, holding a small watering can and constantly watering itself, its bright eyes filled with anticipation.
The surroundings were lush and green, but it wasn't a wild place. Instead, it looked like a greenhouse, with paintings hanging on the walls in the distance. It was surprisingly tall and spacious, with some trees. The rabbit Tuzel was sowing some random seeds. Every time it pressed a seed into the soil, it would hum a little tune and adjust its black clothes, which looked like a formal suit. In fact, the things it wore were quite strange upon closer inspection; they were clearly custom-made for this rabbit.
Looking at everything before him, Ruger felt as if he were soil or a seed.
"It's alive! Another one has survived!"
Tuzel the rabbit made a racket and spun around on the ground.
Those seeds were probably given to it by the wizard apprentices. Hundreds of years ago, when it could still influence the selection of candidates, these seeds would not have been ordinary, but they would not have been anything too precious either. But for the rabbit Tuzel, they were different.
Why would it say that another one has survived?
Because most of them are difficult to grow.
The rabbit kept using the water from the well to water the seeds.
The rabbit would sometimes hum a song, sometimes talk to itself, and occasionally drop the water bottle in its hand and spin around in place, or simply stretch out its arm and spin around holding the water bottle, watching the water splashing from the spout draw arcs as it poured onto the nearby ground, all while humming a song.
“Little thing, you must work hard and not disappoint me,” the rabbit said, staring at a flower. “You are now the oldest here. If you don’t grow well, I will eat you. Of course, if you grow well, I will still eat you, but then I will praise you, praise you for making Lord Tuzel happy, praise you for being my most successful flower…”
As Tuzel the rabbit spoke, he reached out and tapped the flower, making it sway back and forth.
“Yes, just like that, nod, understand? Nod,” the rabbit nodded in satisfaction. “You can definitely do it. Yes, you’re nodding, which means you heard me. Strive to grow stronger. Hmm, let me taste the spirit world.”
“I am a great and noble being of the spirit realm, how could I eat such vulgar things?” the rabbit said, taking out a green fruit and munching on it. “This? This is just criticism, a judgment, to see how lowly these things are. This does not count as eating… and you are partly to blame. You grow too slowly, too slowly!”
The rabbit shook its head and walked away, but after a few steps it stopped and came back, reaching out again to touch the flower, making it sway from side to side.
The rabbit then left, humming a satisfied tune.
It will stop and grumble at anything it sees on the road, even a pebble, if it doesn't like it.
Ruger felt he was growing.
He wasn't far from the flower, so he could often see the rabbit Tuzel. The rabbit clearly spent more energy and time on that flower than he did on his. He calculated that the rabbit had successfully cultivated about fifty plants that could enjoy well water irrigation, all of which were distributed in this vicinity.
"Sigh, that old guy is probably dead by now, isn't he? Even though he locked me up here, he was still a pretty interesting fellow... I still quite liked him..."
One day, as Luger grew up, he heard a rabbit sighing as it watered the plants.
“You know what? He was such a chatterbox. Even if he was alone, he'd keep muttering to himself. And yes, those experiments—before each one, he'd cast a little spell to shut himself up,” the rabbit shook its head helplessly. “It all started when his unconscious muttering ruined an experiment… It was a truly painful lesson. Do you understand what a lesson means? It destroyed decades, even centuries, of hard work. From then on, he fell in love with that little spell…”
Ruger felt he was sprouting, or rather, he had already sprouted and was struggling to break through the soil. He was immersed in the presentation of this divine artifact technique and did not do anything that might interrupt it.
Ruger felt that he might be growing up and his perspective was changing, but he was also a little uncertain. He was unsure whether he was the seed, something in the soil, or something brought by the well water and integrated into the seed.
Wonderful changes were constantly taking place, not only in Luger, but also in all kinds of other plants, which were changing under the irrigation of the well water.
Ruger witnessed the joys and sorrows of the rabbit Tuzel. Happiness and frustration constantly took turns playing out on this rabbit, which it seemed to enjoy. It seemed that only by planting these things and constantly experiencing success and failure could it bring some emotional ups and downs to its boring life. However, when it came to greater sorrow, it came very regularly. Looking at the rabbit's dejected appearance and talking to the flowers and plants, it seemed even more lonely than the few plants next to it that had died. Ruger guessed that it must have been deceived by another batch of apprentices.
They were deceived, yet unable to resist, and had to continue accepting it because it was their only hope, something they could only try again and again.
Luger wanted to roll his eyes at the thought, but unfortunately he was just a big radish now.
To be precise, he didn't even know what he was, or rather, his perspective was attached to something. It just looked a bit like a radish, very big and strong, but its roots were very peculiar, intertwined like a beard that had been intentionally woven by someone, and it was quite beautiful.
The rabbit watered the plant continuously, and whether it was laughing and humming or hanging its head in frustration, the planted area received constant care.
It seemed as if a grain of sand had fallen onto Luger's big radish during a watering.
It was a grain of golden sand, but the frustrated rabbit didn't notice it.
A tiny grain of sand, over time, gradually creates a small hole in the radish, reaching the core of the radish, as if a sharp corner has pierced through it.
The tall radish began to wither, which made the rabbit even more frustrated, but it still watered it on time. Two different forces were rising. It was about to die, but it was being held back by another force. It was as if the sand was making the radish uncomfortable, and it gradually began to grow crooked and its shape was no longer regular. Its vitality was becoming more and more powerful, as if it had won a victory over the fate of withering. But in the process of the struggle, it became crooked and ugly.
Wonderful changes kept happening, and the radish that had recovered delighted the rabbit Tuzel.
A golden key was also quietly growing inside the radish core, slowly taking shape under the nourishment of the spirit world well water.
One day, the enraged rabbit stormed into the planting area, cursing and venting its anger until it saw a giant carrot. It rushed over, grabbed the carrot, and began to gnaw on it. In the blink of an eye, it had swallowed a crooked and ugly carrot, and a golden key got stuck in its back tooth.
Ruger exclaimed in surprise and slowly opened his eyes.
The moment the radish was pulled out and the golden key was fully formed, he roughly understood what the key was.
It seemed to be a golden world. From his perspective, he couldn't see the river, only that it was on the riverbank, where there were many golden grains of sand.
This key, whose origins are unknown, is certainly not just due to a grain of sand. It has grown to be hundreds of times larger than the original grain of sand, which was just a tiny grain of sand at the time.
Ruger rubbed the key, considering whether to accept it.
This golden key is a marvel, just like the devil's dice in his hand—a unique artifact that cannot be replicated.
