Kobold Wizard's Journal

Chapter 193 Relief and Worry

Chapter 193 Relief and Worry

If this world really is a garbage dump, then to be considered a qualified piece of garbage, one must at least be a formal wizard. Therefore, these little wizard apprentices are really just little pieces of garbage, and may not even be qualified.

As Luger thought this, he couldn't help but look at old Lunsel.

"Are we all just garbage?" he said.

He had been having all sorts of wild thoughts and considered many possibilities, but he never imagined it would be a garbage dump.

“You’re the one who’s useless. This is just one perspective. Who can say for sure? In my opinion, even the lord who ran next door to pick up Elena might not be able to say for sure,” Old Lenser said casually. “These things, the changes in the world, are enough for us wizard apprentices to know a little about. We don’t need to care too much about them.”

Ruger nodded upon hearing this.

Although Old Dog Lunser's judgment may not be accurate, after learning a little, at least one can have a general idea in mind.

He noticed that old Lenser by the counter chatted for a couple of minutes and then seemed lost in thought. Ever since he finished concocting the potion and walked down the stairs, old Lenser seemed to be pondering something.

"Uncle, that lady is looking for you again?" Ruger asked.

Old Lunser snapped out of his reverie and said irritably, "Of course not, I was thinking about our neighbor..."

Ruger's mention of the woman seemed to have upset old Lenser.

But that's not important. Ruger glanced outside after hearing this.

"That old gentleman didn't even come out to bask in the sun today," Ruger said.

This is very unusual; except for the days when it rains, the old gentleman across the street has never been absent.

Could it be that his health has deteriorated? Ruger wondered.

"You mean... that person who stands here every day, looking up at the blood-red sun in the dome without moving, is it really just to better bask in the glory of the blood-red sun?" Old Lunser said.

Ruger raised an eyebrow.

Actually, he had this question before, but he didn't say it for fear of causing trouble. Today, however, old Lunser brought it up.

However, this was just something the uncle and nephew talked about in the afternoon.

The two chatted idly for a while longer.

Luger also learned about a specialty potion from Old Lunser's Pharmacy, the Painless Body Potion. It was one of the most expensive and high-end products in the shop. Luger remembered that he had sold a bottle once when he was in charge of the shop. Of course, the so-called specialty was just that it was relatively rare, not a unique formula. Old Lunser wasn't the only one in the City of Burning Blood who knew how to make it. It was just that Old Lunser boasted that his quality was the best.

Old Renser has promised to teach him the potion when he is old enough to learn it.

This is a very peculiar potion. Some wizarding paths inevitably require similar potions at the beginning. Among potions with similar effects, the Painless Body Potion is a very good choice in terms of both price and effect. One bottle will grant a permanent solidification effect, transforming oneself into a peculiar painless magical body.

In old Lenser's words, some apothecaries need to reach the level of a first-circle wizard to consistently produce the Painless Body Potion, which is one of the reasons why it is rare here.

However, Ruger felt that he had heard these words somewhere before, and suddenly remembered that when he obtained the Dragonblood Bitter Vine seeds, Old Lunser said something similar. Potions that could use Dragonblood Bitter Vine were generally only able to be made by first-ring wizards, so it must be one of the few special potions that Old Lunser possessed to support his shop.

First, they experienced the horror and helplessness brought by those high above, and then they experienced the noise and bloody battles brought by those lowly blood fortresses scavenging for trash.

Everything seemed to have finally returned to normal.

Ruger leaned back in his small alchemy room and slowly opened his eyes.

"Not bad, really not bad," he murmured to himself with delight.

I was just planning to meditate and recover, but then a brilliant idea struck me and I ended up completing the spell model for Lesser Sharpness.

The strange, fang-like spell model floated in his mental space, revolving around four magical marks of increasing size. With a thought, he imbued the spell model with power. Without even taking out a dagger or anything else, he directly cast the spell on his fingertips, following the instructions in the spellbook—a feat only a skilled practitioner could perform. As a wondrous sensation emanated from his fingertips, he knew he had succeeded.

He was about to swipe his hand across the floor, but stopped himself in time; he didn't want to hear old Lenser yell.

He stood up, cast a light spell, and carefully examined his fingers.

You can vaguely see a semi-transparent layer attached to your fingertips.

He took out a black fruit, poked it lightly, and a hole appeared in the fruit. He then took out a stone, a small corner of the stone bed that Aiskin had smashed during her training. This guy had hidden it, thinking that Aiskin didn't know about it.

Luger raised his hand and scratched the stone, leaving a mark that wasn't very deep.

He thought for a moment, then dispelled the spell on his fingers and re-enchanted himself with Lesser Sharpness. Its principle was similar to how Light spell adjusts the size of the light orb. He stopped when he reached the limit under continuous enchantment. Again, he cast the spell on his fingers. The air distorted for a moment. He then added a Bull Power to himself and suddenly raised his hand to slash at the stone he was holding in his other hand.

There was a clanging sound!
A piece of stone fell to the ground, its cut surface quite smooth.

But it wasn't as exaggerated as I'd imagined. There was resistance, and my fingers hurt slightly. The help from the Bull's power was also there. He also discovered that the spell on his fingers seemed to weaken slightly after the first strike, but the weakening wasn't significant. It should be able to withstand another twenty or thirty strikes.

Perhaps this is what is meant by "secondary," the price one must pay for simplifying higher-level spells downwards, he thought.

He waited for the spell to dissipate naturally to see how long it could last without being forcibly depleted.

Mastering Lesser Sharpness meant he could finally begin learning Spirit Hair Nourishment.

This will be a long and arduous project. Of course, he had a feeling that learning it wouldn't be difficult; the long and arduous process would only begin after he had learned it.

Unfortunately, this spell was acquired through contact with the world of knowledge, and there were no books available for practicing divine artifact techniques; otherwise, it would have been much faster to master it.

As Ruger recalled the information about the Spirit Hair Nourishment Technique in his mind, he pushed open the door and walked out of the small alchemy room.

Perhaps he had subconsciously analyzed it in his mind occasionally, or perhaps the spell was more compatible with him, but he felt that he could fully master it in two or three days at most.

He had finished refining and meditating this morning and was going to relieve Old Lunser from minding the shop so that Old Lunser would have time to process the materials.

It's perfect that I can run the shop while researching the Lingmao Nourishing Technique; life is so fulfilling and beautiful.

He walked downstairs with a smug look on his face, only to see Old Dog Head Lunser staring blankly out of the shop.

Ruger did not disturb old Lenser, but followed his gaze to look outside.

The old gentleman next door, who had resumed sunbathing a couple of days ago, was once again absent from his most precious sunbathing spot in the middle of the alley. This seemed like a minor matter, but old Lunser was persistently watching the situation across the street, as if he had some unnecessary worries.

Ruger didn't understand, but expressed his support.

"Uncle, this is the medicine from this morning."

As he spoke, Ruger handed over the neatly arranged purification solution.

"That old gentleman didn't show up again?" Ruger said.

“No,” old Lunther said, taking the potion and pulling one out to look at it, “he came out, then flew away again…”

The two chatted and then switched places.

Luger propped his head up on the counter with his elbow, glanced casually around the store, and then began to analyze the Spirit Hair Nourishing Technique again.
