Chapter 188 Servings for 3 and Raising a Glass
Chapter 188 Three servings and raising a glass
After a while.
The laughter, which seemed to rival the sound of the rain, ceased. Elena's laughter, along with the occasional cough, vanished. The surroundings were once again dominated by the patter of rain, the continuous sound making the place seem even more tranquil.
Both Luger and old Lunsel's heads were straining to get their ears perked up.
Time ticked by, and the uncle and nephew barely dared to breathe, their feet seemingly rooted to the old floor of the old Lunser Pharmacy.
creak!
Ruger accidentally shifted his foot, making a screeching sound like teeth grinding against each other on the floor.
Old Lunser glared at him with his big dog eyes, and before he could even speak, there was a noise from next door.
The blood-robed wizard, whose rank was strangely high, seemed to be laughing. It was a hearty laugh, not long but not short either, and he seemed to be in a very good mood.
But when Luger thought of those Blood Fortress guys and glanced at Jaxsay on the ground, he still couldn't relax.
A group of living vampires had just been rendered silent because of this wizard, and now this guy was right next door to them. Even if he was laughing, they still couldn't feel at ease. This wasn't an unnecessary worry, but because he was just too high, too unpredictable. A casual thing he did, not even aimed at anyone, but just a slight oversight, could be enough to change the lives of wizard apprentices like them. So this feeling of apprehension was unconscious, stemming from their own weak status as wizard apprentices.
Meanwhile, the uncle and nephew were also worried about Elena, who had remained silent.
The sparse raindrops fell softly, as if washing something away, or perhaps soothing the many hearts disturbed by the day.
Ring ring! Someone pushed open the door of the pharmacy, causing the pleasant bell to ring.
Immediately following was a series of rapid thumping sounds, as someone entered, quickly stepping on the old stairs of Old Lenser's Pharmacy. Then came a gradual, muffled thud, as if the person in a hurry had slowed down.
As the last slow footsteps approached, Elena appeared at the corner of the stairs.
She stopped there as soon as she walked up.
She stood quietly for a long time, watching Jaxet, dressed in black, frozen in pain on the ground.
“He was just an ordinary vampire. Unlike other vampires, he had never shown any hostility towards the bloodline wizards of the City of Burning Blood. He was just an ordinary person.”
Elena spoke casually, raising her head as she spoke.
“That sir wants to take me away,” she finally looked at Ruger and old Lunser, “Please, you two, help me bury him.”
Ruger noticed that Elena's physical condition seemed quite good, which was very likely due to the help of that blood-robed wizard.
At the same time, Elena's way of addressing that person was at least not like that of the old vampire wizard, who called him "ancestor." It seemed that the person did not like being called "ancestor" by them.
Elena stood quietly for a while, then turned and stepped onto the downward stairs.
"Is he an apprentice?" Old Dog Renser asked. "He's a member of Old Renser's apothecary. We'll take care of what happens to him."
Ruger opened his mouth, as he was about to ask the same question.
The question is crucial: what is the status of the person who leaves with that lord—whether as an apprentice under his wing or an interesting experimental subject?
Elena paused on the stairs.
“If I become a powerful wizard in the future, I will come back to see you and Mr. Nuwondo…” she said. “My hatred is gone, and the so-called filthy bloodline of the Blood Fortress now seems like a joke. Those who brought me pain and those who cared for me are all gone. From now on, the path of the extraordinary will be my only pursuit. The Master has given me the opportunity to become his student…”
The fourth floor of Old Renser's Pharmacy fell silent for a moment.
"Good luck, Miss Elena, whose beautiful teeth have grown a little longer and who is full of a sense of justice," Ruger said.
"Little puppy, thank you for your blessing." Elena said, and continued walking.
Ruger and old Lunsel also unconsciously came to the edge of the stairs.
Elena walked up and down the steps slowly, as if she were deep in thought.
She stood there when she turned a corner and came downstairs.
Seeing this, Luger followed suit, while old Lunther silently followed beside him.
A familiar dining table came into view.
Ruger suddenly realized that he and his nephew had been standing by the window since early morning, while Jaxet was the last to come up. He had come up to invite the two dog-headed guys who were looking at the view to have breakfast. Everything that had happened in succession had lengthened the morning. This was the breakfast that Jaxet had prepared. A sumptuous breakfast for three people was neatly arranged on the table, with their favorite foods placed next to their respective seats according to their habits.
Ruger walked to the dining table.
“Miss Elena, you probably haven’t eaten yet this noisy morning. This is just enough for three people,” he said, pulling out chairs for old Lenser and Jaxeter from the table. “Come and try Jaxeter’s cooking. His skills have improved recently.”
Elena didn't speak, but followed Ruger's directions and sat down at the dining table.
Old Lenser swayed his dog head as he walked to his seat.
"Let's drink!"
Jacques also prepared insect wine for breakfast, which is quite unusual.
The three raised their glasses, which had already been filled with insect wine, and lightly clinked them together above the table.
Then they began to quietly enjoy Jaxsay's last meal.
Perhaps it was because today was such a special day—to be honest, although the meal was more lavish than usual, Jaxey's cooking wasn't up to par, falling short of his usual standard. Of course, he wouldn't know any of this.
When Luger ate the last soft, cooked bean on his plate, there was nothing left on the table to eat.
Elena had already left, leaving only an old man and a young boy at the table.
In fact, Elena ate quite a lot at this meal, and she ate very quickly and with great effort. Her slender body ate more than any of the others.
“That sir… should have left by now?” Ruger said.
Old Lenser twitched his ears and nodded at the big dog's head.
"We should go now."
"Uncle, you mean that kind of...adult...what level of wizard?"
Ruger had been holding it in for a long time, but finally couldn't help asking the question.
He looked expectantly at the old dog sitting across the table.
The old dog's face grew even longer, and he rolled his eyes in annoyance, clearly not wanting to bother with him.
He still wouldn't give up, and raised his hand and pointed upwards again.
Before he could even open his mouth, old Lunser had already rolled his eyes so hard that his huge dog eyes and twitching face perfectly conveyed the emotions he wanted to express.
