Chapter 333 Ice and Sword

Chapter 333 Ice and Sword

Almost instinctively, the hunting party members raised their guns and fired at the ice spikes.

On a night with only faint moonlight, they achieved an astonishing accuracy. Many ice spikes were shattered by bullets as they rose, making a crackling sound. This was no less difficult than shooting a tossed coin from within 100 meters!

But there are just too many of them.

It seemed that as long as there was a water source, these slender icicles would keep emerging. When the first batch of icicles rose to a height of five or six meters, they suddenly attacked the people in the courtyard, their speed no less than that of bullets!
A series of crackling sounds immediately filled the air—the sonic booms caused by the ice picks exceeding the speed of sound.

not good!

The horned deer only had time to raise his hand before it was covered by a dense array of icicles. The enormous impact sent him tumbling backward until he crashed into a rockery and came to a stop.

Stinging, cold, and numbness all came from various parts of the body at the same time.

The Cleansing Heart Technique rapidly absorbed the surrounding spiritual energy to maintain his body's normal functions. He didn't need to look down to know where he was injured: a broken leg, four broken ribs, and three penetrating wounds each in his abdomen and arm. If he hadn't been infused with dragon blood and hadn't learned the Lotus Cloud Sect's magic, he would probably be dead by now.

The pain was rapidly decreasing, proof that the living dead was working. Fu Jiaolu continued firing with his still-movable hand while taking out a blood orange from his pouch and smearing it on himself.

Two more rockets were fired, the explosions and shrapnel temporarily slowing the enemy's advance, but still failing to interrupt the spell. The second wave of ice spikes had gathered enough to form a dense matrix in mid-air.

Just as they were shot out, countless sword lights suddenly tore through the sky, as if cutting the night into millions of pieces!

The densely packed icicles were all shattered, not a single one remained intact.

The horned deer breathed a slight sigh of relief; reinforcements had arrived.

“You may all step back,” a white-haired woman wearing a straw hat and carrying a long sword walked into the arena. “I will deal with these people.”

"Thank you for your trouble, sir."

Seizing the opportunity, the horned deer quickly dragged its wounded companion away from the edge of the courtyard. Although many hunters had been knocked down by ice spikes, none had died yet.

"Hmm?" someone exclaimed. "Did I go too lightly?"

"It's hard to say. Maybe this is the limit of your strength?" Liuli adjusted her bamboo hat and raised her head slightly, her gaze fixed on the figure sitting above the south gate—a woman as well, exuding a chilling aura. Her face was exquisitely beautiful, like a masterpiece sculpted from ice and snow, her skin as white as snow, as if frozen in the cold winter, radiating an ethereal and otherworldly coolness.

If ice and snow could take on a human form, then this person would be its physical manifestation.

"She's good-looking, but a bit too aloof," Liuli commented playfully.

"And who are you?" The woman looked at her, her displeasure almost freezing her. "There's no record of you in the intelligence. A newly emerged wanderer?"

Although this person has an Asian appearance, he speaks English.

"My name is Liuli, what's yours?"

Liuli spoke in the same language. She was too lazy to lie, but worried that the other party would lose their fighting spirit if they found out she wasn't a Wanderer, so she simply ignored the woman's question.

“You can call me Rin.” The other person paused slightly, then frowned and replied, “If you weren’t a wanted wanderer, you could still surrender now. As an organization that contains and protects ability users, we won’t—”

A sword shadow slashed down.

Another officer crouching at the south gate had his head blown off, blood spurting high from his neck.

"Oh dear, am I going to be wanted now?" Ruri gave an embarrassed smile. "Or... is one not enough?"

This insane scene left everyone present gasping in shock.

Rin flew into a rage, and the white mist in the air instantly turned into a blizzard. "As expected, you Wanderers are all unforgivable scum! On behalf of the Arbitration Court, I declare you guilty of death!" Without saying a word, Liuli drew her sword and slashed at the south gate of the courtyard.

The gate crashed to the ground, but Rin flew up with the wind and snow.

At the same time, the temperature inside the courtyard was dropping rapidly. Liuli found that her clothes instantly froze as hard as paper, and a thin layer of ice crystals formed on her skin.

She unleashed her spatial slash once more, and countless sword lights covered most of the courtyard like a net.

The opponent was surprisingly agile, weaving through the sword light like the wind, and not a single strike could hit her.

However, the agency personnel who supported Rin suffered a great misfortune.

The fine threads materialized, slicing through several of the surrounding ability users. The low temperature seemed to distinguish friend from foe, and those people's movements were not greatly hindered. However, even those with intact limbs found it difficult to adapt to the high-frequency attacks of Liuli's sword that could cut through thousands of threads.

But Liuli's movements became increasingly sluggish.

After her first swing, she didn't sheath her sword, but held it halfway in her hand—not because she didn't want to, but simply because bending her arm was incredibly difficult. She discovered countless thin ice crystals emerging from her hand, as if they were growing from within her own body.

I see……

Does she want to freeze all the blood in her body?

That's quite a powerful move.

“I can control the direction of cold currents, from creating a storm to letting them penetrate a person’s body.” A chilling voice carried on the wind. “You can’t shut off your ears, nostrils, or even the countless hair follicles on your skin. Cold currents will turn your bodily fluids into ice crystals, piercing your joints, internal organs, and eventually bursting you completely. This process will be extremely painful, so I hope you will fully appreciate the power of low temperatures.”

Liuli did not answer. She was unable to move, and even her mouth was pierced by ice crystals, her tongue stuck to her palate.

Rin raised her hand and waved, and several ice spikes shot out of the water again, heading straight for the "Wanderer" who was frozen in place.

Her body was not as sharp and invincible as a sword.

With two soft thuds, the ice spike pierced her heart and spine from both the front and back.

No blood even flowed out.

They had already turned into crystalline powder inside the body.

Rin interrupted her ability, letting out a long breath—the move was very effective, but it was quite exhausting. Creating a frigid zone that would freeze everyone to death was on the same level of exhaustion as summoning a storm that would plunge a city into winter; she hadn't used this move against a single ability user in a long time.

As the blizzard subsided, she slowly landed on the ground. In less than five minutes, the courtyard seemed to have regressed from early spring to deep winter, with a thick layer of snow covering the grass and crystal-clear icicles hanging from the eaves of the corridors and pavilions.

"She's dead." The operative assisting her stepped forward and examined Liuli's condition: she was still holding her sword in one hand, her other hand gently supporting the brim of her conical hat, seemingly still looking for an opportunity to strike. But all her joints were frozen by ice crystals, and her skin was riddled with holes... not to mention that her heart and spine had been fatally damaged, and the fact that she was standing was simply because her body had not yet thawed.

“She brought it on herself,” Rin said with disgust.

This man is a madman; he takes pleasure in killing.

Despite being instructed to capture as many people as possible alive, she really didn't want such people to live.

"Keep moving forward, our target is beyond the Green Grass Palace—" She was halfway through her sentence when suddenly her hair stood on end. The person in front of her, who was clearly frozen into an ice sculpture, smiled at her. The upturned corners of his mouth caused his skin to crack further, and his blood-stained red lips looked like the smile of a demon from hell!

How could she... possibly survive?

Rin felt her heart stop beating, as if she were the one truly frozen in ice. She opened her mouth with all her might, trying to warn the operators around her, but the next second, the sword light surged, and Ruri gripped the hilt with both hands, thrusting forward and stabbing the still-chilling longsword in her hand towards Rin's forehead!
This time, there was no dodging or evasion.

Her body instinctively moved backward, but the sword's momentum was even faster. The sharp tip of the sword pierced through her forehead, brain, and skull, leaving a hole in her head!
