Chapter 325 Like a Nightmare
Chapter 325 Like a Nightmare (Part 1)
"The captain has given orders for you to relocate immediately." Wang Qianduan's words interrupted the team's chatter. Zhang Yingzi, who was standing next to him, threw out a silver Rubik's Cube, which instantly transformed into a cabinet upon landing.
She opened the cabinet door, and inside was a deep passageway.
"Huh?" Jiang Siqi asked in surprise, "But the captain is still in a meeting. Isn't our mission to protect him?"
“His security will be handled by others,” Wang Qianduan replied expressionlessly. “You just need to follow orders.”
Both he and Zhang Yingzi were trusted confidants brought by Xiao Kanong when he was parachuted in, so it wasn't surprising that the acting captain relayed the order.
Although everyone felt the arrangement was a bit abrupt, they still did as instructed.
Honglian, as the group leader, was the last to enter the cabinet.
She couldn't see the backs of those who had entered the passage before her, even if they had only entered five seconds earlier. The path was narrow and cramped, allowing only one person to pass at a time, surrounded by stone walls and ceilings, and filled with a musty, sour smell. If she hadn't experienced it firsthand, she would have found it hard to imagine that so many things could be crammed into that tiny Rubik's Cube.
After walking for about two minutes, she finally saw the exit.
There were still voices coming from over there.
Honglian strode out of the passage, then paused, momentarily stunned. She entered another enclosed room, its floor still made of rough, rubble-paved stones, utterly out of place in this futuristic world. Several people stood in the room, but none of them were her team members. Wang Qianduan stood guard at the exit, hands clasped behind his back, seemingly waiting for her, even though he had been in the lounge with Zhang Yingzi just before she entered the cabinet.
Honglian immediately became alert.
"What about the rest?"
Wang Qianduan didn't answer, but instead gestured to the others.
They swarmed forward, rushing towards Honglian. She turned around, surprised to find that the passage she had come from had vanished.
But even at this moment, she was still unwilling to lay a hand on her colleagues—because she noticed that they were all wearing badges representing the headquarters, and that they were from the headquarters' logistics team.
The crowd that surrounded her grabbed Honglian's arms, twisted them behind her back, and with a click, a pair of handcuffs were fastened to her wrists.
"What do you mean by this?" Honglian glared angrily. "You're trying to illegally detain an executive agent of the organization?"
“Miss Honglian should know better than anyone what I mean,” Wang Qianduan replied coldly. “As for whether I have the right to do so… what do you think?”
He took a card out of his pocket and showed it to him.
Honglian's pupils constricted instantly.
"Are you a member of the arbitration tribunal?"
"According to the organization's regulations, we suspect that you have colluded with illegal ability users and seriously threatened the security of the Security Agency," Wang Qianduan announced. "Headquarters has relieved you of all your duties, and I will now be in charge of the interrogation."
Honglian's heart sank to the bottom.
This was not a trial interrogation; they were clearly already aware of their contact with the Wanderers.
If she is exposed, what about Wang Baihu?
As if reading her mind, Wang Qianduan said bluntly, "Your colleagues will certainly not escape. Whether it's Wang Baihu, Jiang Siqi, or Xiaojiu, they will all be interrogated."
Jiang Siqi and Xiao Jiu? They also know about Shi Xin's affairs?
Honglian couldn't help but protest, "How could they possibly betray the organization! Wang Qianduan, you're exaggerating this!"
"Are you saying... only you would betray the organization?" the other party sneered. "Whether they have problems or not, I will find out myself. Of course, if you are willing to cooperate and tell them everything you know, they will suffer less. Let me be clear, this interrogation will not be easy for them to endure."
An iron chair was moved behind her, and the logistics team members hurriedly forced Honglian to sit down in the chair.
The other person held up a syringe.
At this point, it's unlikely that you can get away with it using words alone.
With a flick of her finger, a button slipped off her sleeve.
Apparition!
The next second, the buttons turned into handcuffs and fell to the ground. Honglian suddenly sprang up, using the force of her push to break free from the four people, and pounced on Wang Qianduan, seemingly wanting to launch a head-on attack! But in reality, she had already secretly thrown a glass ball upwards—this small ball flew directly over Wang Qianduan's head and landed behind him.
Then came the castling!
Honglian appeared behind Wang Qianduan like a ghost, the dagger in her hand pressed against his throat.
"No one is allowed to move!"
The logistics team members froze.
"Not bad, taking them by surprise, that's quite a feat for a group leader." Wang Qianduan even had the leisure to applaud.
Honglian's heart was filled with alarm bells, but she dared not let go of the other person. "Take me to see Wang Baihu!"
"And then what? Will you drag him out of here with you?" Wang Qianduan replied dismissively. "If this were Jiangcheng, you would indeed be a tough opponent. The captain described you as a cunning rabbit with three burrows; who knows where you've hidden a transfer token? Unfortunately, since entering this world, all your belongings have been under surveillance by the authorities. How are you going to escape under these circumstances?"
After saying that, he actually ran into the dagger!
The dagger pierced his skin, but it felt like solid iron. Instead of penetrating his blood vessels, it made Honglian's palm go numb.
not good!
She immediately released the dagger, trying to control her opponent with physical techniques, but it was too late. Wang Qianduan turned around and delivered a powerful right hook punch to Honglian's side abdomen, causing her internal organs to churn!
"vomit!"
Honglian clutched her stomach and knelt on the ground, unable to hold back the large amount of acidic fluid mixed with blood and foam that she vomited.
Is Wang Qianduan really that strong?
She couldn't believe she couldn't even withstand a single punch.
It felt as if what had hit me wasn't a fist, but a heavy cannonball!
Despite the excruciating pain, Honglian struggled to grab the fallen dagger, but Wang Qianduan stepped on her wrist and picked it up first.
Then she witnessed an unbelievable scene: he actually used one hand to twist the dagger into a ball of steel!
Wang Qianduan grabbed her by the collar and pulled her up. "See that? This is the power of the organization. The Maintenance Agency is so close to success, and yet you betray our original intentions and deny our sacrifices at this crucial moment. How foolish!"
Besides the cold disgust in his tone, there was also a hint of heartache.
"Ahem... Did you also know about the Captain-Commander's deal with the demon?" Honglian asked, holding her breath.
"That's just superficial."
"Betraying Elori! Is it all just for show!?"
"Oh? You do remember her... It seems those wanderers know quite a bit about our secrets." Wang Qianduan commented nonchalantly, "I don't see anything wrong with exchanging an illegal wanderer for the organization's major achievements."
Honglian was speechless.
An unauthorized wanderer? Elori used to be a member of the organization!
Although she had heard many stories of corruption within the organization from Lin Qing, she remained skeptical.
Wang Qianduan's words were like a heavy punch to her chest, even more powerful than the real punch she had just received.
If he were just an ordinary operator, it might be considered that only a few individuals had ideological problems. But he is an Arbitration Tribunal user and a core member who has long resided at headquarters. Wang Qianduan's evaluation, in a sense, represents the attitude of the headquarters.
"The maintenance agency... shouldn't be like this..."
She gritted her teeth and said.
Those with abilities are a minority... They were once feared and dreaded. The organization took them in, partly to prevent their abilities from being abused, and partly to protect them.
It was supposed to be... the second home for those with special abilities.
Wang Qianduan slammed her hard to the ground, causing her to vomit another mouthful of blood. It felt as if several of her ribs were broken, and excruciating pain gnawed at her entire body like venomous snakes.
“That’s how things should be done. Without traitors like you, our victory would have come much sooner.” He kicked Honglian into a chair. “Tie her up and smash her fingers. That way she won’t be able to use those little tricks.”
"Yes!" Everyone responded in unison.
