Chapter 238 The bloody storm

Chapter 238 The bloody storm

"Oh no... this stench is that of a demon!" Elori sensed her nemesis approaching. "How could this be? There's still about half a day left!"

According to historical records, the Temple Treasury was destroyed on June 1st.

They traveled day and night without stopping, all to take Lucy away before June arrived.

Perhaps history has changed... Chen Xuan thought to himself, in places they cannot see.

Was it because of Gustav's death?

Or did Elori warn the organization, allowing the demons to overhear the news?
Regardless of the reason, the changes it caused were very minor, only advancing the course of history by half a day, and their plan still had a chance of being achieved.

"It's alright. Since they're here, let's wipe them out here," Chen Xuan said decisively.

As they were speaking, the door to warehouse number one suddenly burst open, and two figures stumbled in. One was wearing a white lab coat, looking like a researcher from the organization; the other was in uniform, carrying a submachine gun, his shoulder stained with blood, clearly suffering a serious injury.

"N21, N21!" the man in the white coat cried out in anguish.

“…It’s Professor Yuren, excuse me for a moment.” Liuli stepped forward lightly. “I’m here.”

"A gang of bandits has broken in! This place is in your hands now, you must guard the treasure vault!" Professor Yulen said as he ran.

"If you can, please save my colleague!" shouted the guard who had helped the professor escape. "The enemy's firepower is intense; we've been scattered!"

"What about you two?"

"Let's go hide in the shelter first. The emergency distress signal has been sent out, and reinforcements will be here within an hour!" The two men, panting, ran to the center of the hall and suddenly saw Chen Xuan and the others. The two groups stared at each other, and the atmosphere became tense for a moment.

"Uh... hello?" Chen Xuan broke the silence.

"Who are they?!" the professor exclaimed in shock, pointing at Chen Xuan and the others. "N21! What on earth is going on?"

“I think… they’re probably here for the treasure too, right?” Liuli said truthfully.

The old professor's face turned pale instantly. He hadn't expected that the treasure vault would be surrounded by wolves in front and tigers behind. This supposedly unknown, hidden sanctuary was actually more bustling than a vegetable market.

The guard was so frightened that he raised his gun, but with three targets, he didn't know which one to aim at.

"Stop!" Elori shouted, revealing her white wings.

Seeing this, the two immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

"So it's Miss Angel..." The professor, still shaken, patted his chest. He was over sixty years old and couldn't handle too much shock. "May I ask your name and which organization you work for?"

“That’s a secret, and I can’t tell you. The Angel Alliance anticipated today’s attack, which is why I’m here,” Elori said quickly, trying to think of a solution. “Stop talking nonsense and get hidden. These enemies are beyond your capabilities.”

“Yes…you’re right.” The professor snapped out of his reverie and quickly nodded. “We’ll be leaving now, so we won’t cause you any more trouble.”

"Wait!" Elori called out to them again, pointing to the door of warehouse number ten. "Can you open this?"

“Room 10?” Yuren showed a hint of doubt. “Of course not… Only a few angels from the higher heavens have the key to open it, didn’t you know that?”

"I was just asking casually," she said, waving her hand dismissively. "Alright, you can go now."

The two arrived at a corner of the warehouse and, without knowing what mechanism they pressed, the floorboards slid open, revealing a hidden staircase leading downwards.

After they crawled inside, the floorboards closed up completely, making it impossible to tell that there was another escape route there.

“N21?” Chen Xuan looked at Liuli.

The latter shrugged. "My number. Actually, very few people ask my name, but you're an exception."

But she just said... a name is mainly about how others address you, and what you think of yourself isn't very useful.

Could it be that I understood it wrong?
The seemingly useless title she used actually referred to Liuli, because it was a name she came up with herself.

"Then I'll just call you Liuli," Chen Xuan said dismissively. The other person's shoulders twitched slightly, but they didn't reply.

Soon after, a flurry of footsteps echoed at the entrance to the hall.

A group of masked, armed men in black stormed into warehouse number one.

"The central hub of the treasure vault has been taken into control, and nothing has been found—" The leader's report abruptly stopped. Like the professor before them, they were caught off guard when they saw Chen Xuan and the others.

The invaders probably never imagined that, apart from the guards and researchers of the temple vault, they would encounter a group of completely unrelated people.

However, this moment of hesitation lasted less than two seconds. Their professional instincts quickly led them to raise their guns, intending to eliminate all survivors.

Chen Xuan, who was prepared, reacted even faster.

He summoned the Thousand Thoughts Sword and slashed at the glass pillar closest to the intruder, simultaneously knocking away the strange object inside—an old-fashioned alarm clock that had long since stopped working.

The alarm clock flew precisely towards a masked mercenary, who swiftly caught it in his hand.

"He's stealing the rare item!" Chen Xuan shouted.

"What?" The man was slightly taken aback.

Liuli turned her head and smiled at him, seemingly seeing through his thoughts, but the next second she still drew her sword.

Under the watchful eye of the divine eye, every movement of hers was clearly discernible. Her left hand gripped the scabbard, while her right hand slowly drew out the slender blade. Judging from her stance, it was a standard drawing and slashing motion.

However, the moment the blade was completely removed from its sheath, it suddenly vanished!

Hundreds of pale red lines appeared in front of Liuli.

They intertwined and extended at an extremely fast speed, filling the entire hall in about two seconds! Keep in mind that this is "two seconds" under slow perception conditions; the actual time was probably only a few nanoseconds!

As these lines extended, they also divided the space of Treasure Vault No. 1 into tens of thousands of fragments.

The delaying effect of the Divine Eye Technique has reached its limit.

Immediately afterward, a flash of red light appeared, and in an instant, a bloody storm swept through the hall. All the intruders encompassed by the red lines were shredded into fist-sized pieces of flesh, exactly corresponding to the size of the ripped areas! Even those who were not directly touched by the red lines could not escape being decapitated, as if those red lines were not thin strips, but a plane with a thickness of almost infinite thinness!

Thump thump.

Corpses fell to the ground, dark red blood instantly staining most of the ground. The first dozen or so men who rushed in didn't even fire a single shot before becoming victims of Liuli's blade.

Good heavens, this is beyond the reach of human swordsmanship.

Although the Demon-Slaying True Sword technique is powerful, it comes at the cost of life, making it impossible to wield at will. Yet, she used this move without even breaking a sweat; it was purely a display of skill.

Without the blessing of the Divine Eye Technique, this attack would have been over in the blink of an eye.

No wonder there are rumors circulating within the Angel Alliance that the Temple Treasury is indestructible.

"It's not over yet!" Although Chen Xuan was amazed by the sharpness of her strike, he could also clearly sense that the armed men who first rushed into the treasure vault were all ordinary people; the demon had no intention of leading the charge. The several bright orbs of spiritual energy lingered outside the hall until the first batch of mercenaries died, at which point they finally rushed into the hall.

The lights on the vault ceiling suddenly dimmed, as if the light had been absorbed by something.

A faint, shadowy cloud flickered in.

This time, Chen Xuan will not wait for Liuli to make the first move.

If the other side gets to show off all their skills, won't our side's momentum be completely suppressed?
Moreover, he discovered something after his encounter with Gustav—demons could power the Seed of Flesh. Although he hadn't fully grasped the intricacies of this, experience showed that the insect-faced monsters living in the ruins of Paris and the demons of this era both fell into the category of "specific enemies."

How could he possibly let go of such a rare opportunity to replenish his energy?

Chen Xuan immediately donned his three-piece flesh and blood armor set, clenched his fingers tightly around the dark cloud, and shouted, "Disintegrate and Remelt!"
