Chapter 378 374. Comments on "Life in Tokyo Starting from Painting"

Today I would like to recommend a new two-dimensional book to you.

"Tokyo Life Starting from Painting", Hefeng Yuyue, level 5 author.

Category: Light Novel-Original Fantasy.

【Introduction】

Travel back to 2003 Tokyo, Japan.

Former professional painter Higashino Tsukasa had only two options: either plagiarize classic Japanese dramas such as "The Solitary Gourmet" and "White Tower," or win the Tokyo Youth Painting Award and debut as a professional painter.

【Golden Ten Chapters】

Chapter One: Tsukasa Higashino. On the streets of Shibuya Station in Tokyo, a group of female students chattered incessantly, their gaze fixed on a boy drawing nearby. Serious men are the most handsome, and incredibly attractive. The best-looking girl, urged by her companions to approach him, offered a full-body sketch of the protagonist, Tsukasa Higashino. As she did so, she felt completely captivated by the painting.

Chapter Two, like so many other stories, follows. The protagonist, once a time traveler, was a professional painter in China in his previous life and is now a high school student skilled in drawing. He possesses a painting system that grants him special effects. Upon returning home, he discovers a mentally ill sister whose parents are gone. The sister is normally normal, but upon hearing the protagonist's decision to drop out of school, she becomes ill.

Chapter Three: Shooting ink, spraying ink, and drawing with a mop. With his family short on cash, the protagonist must first find a way to make a living. Writing novels and making movies—that's what online fiction protagonists do—he can only draw, and he still draws manga. Tokyo remains the same, but many famous works of art are missing. So, he decides to draw a manga based on "The Ring."

Chapter 4: The Ring. The Ring is a groundbreaking work in Japanese horror film history, influencing a generation. The protagonist possesses a painting system that allows readers to experience the true horror of the painting. He hesitated for a moment, but ultimately decided to mail it to the publisher, thus troubling his Japanese friends.

Chapter 5: The Three Major Publishing Houses. Because this is a parallel universe, the three major manga publishers, Shueisha, Kodansha, and Shogakukan, no longer exist. The only three remaining publishers are Iwasaki (boys' manga), Machiku (girls' manga), and Urashima (mystery and horror manga). After waiting for two or three days, the protagonist finally receives a call from the editor.

Chapter 2: The boastful author of "The Ring." Hosokawa Koharu, a new editor at Urashima Publishing, contacted the protagonist and arranged a meeting. She'd only been an editor for a month, doing daily chores like picking up mail and not yet responsible for any work. Two days ago, while reading the "Ring" manga, she was amused by a note tucked inside, warning the editor, who has a heart condition, not to read it.

Chapter 7, Ding, bell, bell. Hosokawa Koharu began flipping through the manga, which had only one chapter. The cover depicted a small Japanese-style room, a television flashing with snow. The story primarily concerned two high school girls, recounting a story about a horror videotape that would kill anyone who watched it within a week. As the story ended, the phone rang. The editor, startled, fell to the floor, as if she had become a character in the story.

Chapter 8, The Ring cover. Editor Hosokawa calmed down and looked at the comic cover again. The flat surface turned into a three-dimensional image. The TV flickered faster. A dry well appeared, and someone climbed out of the well, standing in front of her, staring at her. The three-dimensional cover turned flat again, resembling a dry well, completely different from the small Japanese-style room at the beginning. She was so scared that she threw the manuscript hard. Her colleague was very curious and started to read it too, smashing the manuscript to make it look even more like the real thing. The editor was a little confused.

Chapter 9: The Game of Capital. All the editors in the department passed the manga around, looking only at the cover. The senior editors fought to stay calm, while the junior editors either fell off their chairs or threw their manuscripts. After reading it, the editor-in-chief chained the large television. After a meeting, they decided to allocate resources and give the manga a chance. Editor Hosokawa was appointed editor-in-chief.

Chapter 10: Tokyo National Youth Painting Prize. The protagonist arrives at a private high school focused on arts and sports. Because of his good looks, he's popular with girls. However, after a family incident, his popularity has declined. A friend tells the protagonist that his girlfriend is breaking up with him. However, he's hoping to win the Tokyo National Youth Painting Prize so he can bring his sister to school.

【Brief Comment】

Hefeng Yuyue is a level 5 author, and has written "A Good Life Starting from Japan", "I Became a Japanese Villain", "This Japanese Story Is Not Too Cold", and "Tokyo Life Starting from Painting".

His best work is "Leon: This Japanese Story Is Not So Cold," which seems to have won the "One Emperor, Four Emperors" award in 2019. I can't remember what award it won, but I remember the style: a horror web novel.

His new book follows the style of a cartoonist, which is similar to "The Devil Comes" and "W: Two Worlds". It can be regarded as a cross-disciplinary attempt.

Because everyone knows that it is difficult to mix in the suspense category now, and traditional suspense novels are too restricted.

To avoid risk, many authors have turned to light novels, setting their suspense stories in Tokyo. This has led to Tokyo becoming a hotbed for urban legends and a frequent destination for protagonists in Chinese online fiction. Hefeng Yuyue, a veteran anime author, writes entirely in a Japanese style. I'm actually quite amazed at how these people, who have never been to Tokyo, can create works with such an authentically Japanese flavor.

Can you truly understand the meaning of a book just by reading it?
Later I thought about it, and it was indeed true. People like Chen Dong who had never practiced Taoism could still write Taoism novels, right?
It can be seen that reading more is still useful.

In this book, the protagonist is not only good at drawing horror comics, but also traditional world famous paintings. His drawing skills may seem a bit crude to an expert, but as long as the story is exciting enough, it's fine.

I quite like his new book. The visuals are captured in words, and the horror effect is very good. It really evokes famous movie scenes. This is why I chose to write this article during the day.

I'm definitely not a wimp or scared, I just want to keep my heart healthy!

I suggest that everyone give more support, otherwise he will be eliminated again.

【to sum up】

Writing is not easy, so cherish every moment!

【Cang's Ramblings】

I mentioned this book a few times in my previous book list review, but the readers' response was not very good.

Based on the principle of seeing is believing, I read it in depth.

Very wonderful.

Because I have watched "The Ring" many times, I have a deeper memory of it when I read the book, and I feel particularly involved in the book.

The author used words to describe the horror of the comics, and the flat comics were transformed into three-dimensional pictures by editor Hosokawa.

All the editors in the editorial department were successfully frightened and the TV was chained.

But a reader suggested placing the two TVs face to face, and Sadako would not dare to come out.

Once the comic was released, it received an exceptionally positive response and immediately became the publishing house's mainstay.

The protagonist has superb painting skills, which are not limited to comics. He has also won the Tokyo National Youth Painting Award.

He also has a mentally disabled sister who loves and protects him.

All in all, I like this book very much!
