Spending the night in a dilapidated post station, the white python attacked. The protagonist commanded Agou to help him escape and returned to his hometown after twenty years.

He doesn't have any martial arts skills, but he knows some unorthodox techniques like the Heart Purification Mantra and the Qiankun Transformation Mantra, and he's an excellent calligrapher. This led him to work as a clerk in the county government. One night, someone beats a drum to complain about a crime, and unexpectedly, a female ghost arrives. Using his ventriloquism, the protagonist explains the ghost's grievances to the county magistrate. While the capture encounters some difficulties, the trial goes smoothly, and the protagonist even witnesses a night-wandering spirit.

I won't list all the other plot details here, but to put it simply, this book has a very authentic Xianxia feel, without any side-steps, system manipulation, or meme-inducing tropes. It depicts a complex world of humans, gods, ghosts, demons, and immortals. In the preview I read, I haven't seen how the protagonist cultivates, and I can't imagine how he cultivates with just ventriloquism, but I'm sure there will be more to come.

This book is worth reading. Some of the plots may be traditional, but there are still some fresh elements. Moreover, the author wrote it very carefully, and the logic and story are very distinctive. I am looking forward to it.
