Chapter 1397 1395 Comments on "The Los Angeles Detective"
Chapter 1397 1395. Review of "The Los Angeles Detective"
Hello everyone, I am Cang Yiwei.
Today I would like to recommend a fine article to you.
"The Los Angeles Detective", Paopan, a great writer, 177 million words serialized.
Category: Urban-Urban Life.
Summary:
A criminal policeman traveled to America and became a detective of the Los Angeles Police Department.
After overcoming his initial confusion, he repeatedly solved strange cases, became famous internationally, and was called the most legendary detective in history...
【Brief Comment】
He also has several other novels under his name, including "The Detective from the Future," half of which are excellent. He must have had his books banned, otherwise, with only these few existing books, his chances of getting a contract from a big name would be a little low.
Following the previous book, he continued to create detective themes, and he found the direction of transformation and stepped out of his previous real estate path.
In the above article, I recommended an American-themed novel that just received 10,000 orders. This time, I also found this detective novel. After comparing them, I understood the difference between the two.
Ten thousand orders, there is indeed a reason for it.
The author's sympathy for the protagonist was a bit of a thorn in the side of the story, and it almost turned me off. After reading the author's sympathy, I felt he was truly putting his heart into the book, even though he sometimes came off as a bit of a "country dog talking nonsense" and would often include a Chinese-English translation, often with relatively simple words. It wasn't very pleasing to the eye, and the translation accent was a bit heavy.
This is a problem with the subject matter itself, as well as the author's writing skills. Let me add a point about the system. From the chapters I read, the system's role was minimal; I didn't even see a lottery function. It's just a trigger-type cheat, giving the protagonist a legitimate reason to continue working as a police officer instead of being a mere amateur.
His talent for solving crimes is not that strong, and his personal fighting ability is not outstanding for the time being, so he did not leave me with a particularly powerful impression.
As for the plot, it does introduce a few cases, and the investigation process is relatively logical. The protagonist plays a significant role in the story, acting like a leader. I read it very quickly, almost reading ten lines at a glance, for two reasons. One is that the writing is quite simple, without any profound ideas, and the character names are easy to remember, given that there aren't that many people in the story.
Another problem is that the pace is a bit fast, pushing people forward all the time, leaving no time to think about whether there are any foreshadowings or clues ahead.
All in all, my expectations for this book are pretty average. I think there is no need to follow the trend and write stories about America. It is completely possible to write stories about the early days of China or those times when there are not so many restrictions.
It’s just that “knowing is easy, doing is difficult”. Anyone can talk about general principles, but if you really want to write about them, you can’t just take it for granted by watching a few American TV series and detective dramas.
There are quite a lot of readers who like this book. I remember that a long time ago, Aunt Ai, who had a pseudo-official identity, specifically introduced Paopan's works.
So, I also hope that if mature readers are really interested in this book, they must read a few chapters in person before deciding whether to read it or not. Never believe the nonsense of book bloggers.
【to sum up】
Writing is not easy, so cherish every moment.
I’m Cang Yiwei, and I’m here to promote “Cang’s Ramblings”.
Welcome to the paradise of book reviews.
【Cang's Ramblings】
I've been feeling a bit tired lately. I'm not very good at staying up late at night and often feel sleepy during live broadcasts. What I write is not very ideal either. As I get older, my energy is indeed not as abundant as when I was young.
It's a bit embarrassing to look back at what I wrote during the day.
