Chapter 288 Father, it's time for the Zhang family.

Chapter 288 Father, it's time to go home.

With Azrael's defeat in his duel with Abaddon,
The fate of the Vigilant Star also suddenly turned dark.
The Greenskins, Chaos Warriors, and the Empire waged a fierce battle for control of the ground.

Each neighborhood has to go through repeated battles.
The intense artillery fire bombarded the ruined neighborhood again and again.

The surviving citizens of the Empire were evacuated to various shelters, and logistics forces transported them into orbit before sending them to other safe star sectors.

Those who remained experienced hellish horrors.
The eerie noises emanating from the wandering spirits and the various unsettling omens only heightened the panic of those who saw them.

As darkness fell, the large fissure became particularly conspicuous, its color constantly changing from white to a rotten violet.

The command marked all the anomalies on the battle map; they resembled mold growing on a damp wall.
Many psychics performed divination based on these phenomena to predict how the situation would develop.

However, each time the result was a colossal ship crushing the stars, signifying that the Vigilant Star would inevitably be destroyed by the Vengeful Spirit.

Just as the remaining Imperial forces were beginning to despair,

Calgar arrived with a powerful imperial fleet to provide support.
The warships blotted out the sky, their sheer size and scale quickly overwhelmed the Chaos and Orcs, allowing them to regain control of the Void Battlefield.

However, the real battlefield is no longer in the void, but on the ground.

Abaddon's Starseer Harken, along with nine Wordholder war leaders, joined the ground offensive.
These nine Word Bearers leaders are collectively known as the 'Triple Demonic Order'.
They enslaved many of the Empire's subjects and built the Blackrock Crown, capable of manipulating warp energy, at the leyline nodes of Vigilant Planet.

A ritual was performed to summon demonic allies from the warp.

Each time the Word Bearers conquer a region, they drag it into the abyss of darkness.

Countless terrifying monsters roam the occupied zone.

No living person dares to walk in those dark areas, where all sorts of twisted demons and ghosts will devour everything without restraint.

As the Word Bearers act, the Blackrock Field on Vigilant Star is slowly being reversed, causing the Nakdomond Corridor to shrink.

Blackstone is a very special mineral. It possesses subspace duality, can repel subspace influences, and can also act as a chaos amplifier.

The Nakmonde Corridor exists because of the Blackrock.

Both the Vigilant Star, located on the dark side of the Empire, and the Crimson Star, located in the Holy Land, possess vast deposits of Black Stone.

Beneath the strata of these two worlds lie many black stone 'drainage needles,' which, on each planet, point to the other's location like long, unnatural black stone artifacts.
They echo each other, maintaining an anti-subspace field and creating the special passageway, the Nakmonde Corridor.

According to information provided by the Endless One - Taraxin, the two planets were the work of the Star God in ancient times, with the purpose of suppressing the warp.

Unfortunately, over time, most of the Blackrock Fields were destroyed, which led to the complete tearing of the galaxy apart.

Abaddon's task was quite simple: close the Nakdomonde Corridor and weaken the Empire's power.
Therefore, he did not intend to eliminate all Imperial forces on the Vigilant Star, as that would take too long.
If Guilliman or Lane, the two Primarchs, were to return, it would very likely cause all their efforts to be in vain.
Therefore, he wanted to destroy the Black Stone that repelled the Warp as much as possible, place the Black Stone Crown so that it would resonate with the Warp, and close the Narcmond Corridor.

Now, the Chaos army has placed enough Demon Crowns at the local leyline nodes, and will soon be able to reverse the polarity of the black rock strata on Vigilant Star, turning the entire world into a focal point of chaotic energy, and thus closing the corridor.

Calgarh had intended to gather superior forces to first recapture Vigilance Star.

However, his orders were to prioritize finding the Soul of Vengeance, even if the Vigilant Star fell.

Therefore, he did not truly regain control of the Void battlefield on Vigilant Star; he merely opened a path to deploy troops to the surface to support Azrael.

Baal, the chapter leader of the Blood Angels, also secretly arrived in the Vigilant Starfield during this period. They stayed away from the battlefield and waited for the appearance of the Soul of Vengeance.

With reinforcements, the Chaos forces were stuck at the final step of their plan; they needed to build several more Demon Crowns to meet the requirements of the ritual.
However, the imperial army, led by Calgar, resisted with exceptional tenacity.

After a period of stalemate, Abaddon finally couldn't hold back and left the field.

With the appearance of the Vengeful Spirit on the battlefield, countless demons descended upon it.
Every Imperial warship was attacked.
Reality shone as it was torn apart, and demons poured out of the warp rift, lunging directly at the bridge crew, including the flagship, the Victory Laurel.

If it weren't for the players' selfless support,
This move could potentially cause the Imperial fleet to collapse and fall into a desperate situation.

The players shouted as they fought demons inside the warship.

However, the enemy's numbers were simply too great, and no matter how hard they tried, the number of demons did not decrease at all.

During this period, Imperial heroes such as Celestine, the Emperor's living saint, the legendary Grey Knight Grand Mentor, and Sly Marbo, who was rumored to be able to kill twenty Archdemons with a single grenade, appeared to assist the Empire in protecting the Vigilant Star defense line.

Faced with the stalemate, Abaddon chose to take matters into his own hands.
In order to weaken the resistance of the ground defenders, the Great Raiders ordered orbital bombardment.

Powerful torpedoes and missiles rained down on the surface of the warning planet, while thick beams of light pierced the heavens and earth, resembling magnificent pillars of light.

The ground underwent saturation bombardment, and some Blackrock nodes that repelled the warp were destroyed.

The cursed scars, originally confined to the edge of the galaxy, moved inwards.
On the surface of Vigilant Star, as the anti-repulsion field weakened, the Word Bearers were able to fully construct the Blackrock Crown.

The dam that maintained reality collapsed, and the demons of the warp materialized, turning countless regions into ghost realms.

Calgarh personally oversaw the operation, holding the fort at the last few crucial points to prevent the Vigilant Star from plummeting into the abyss.

In order to completely crush the Imperial resistance, Abaddon chose an airborne operation.
Both sides in the Empire

When Abaddon declared war on Calgary

The Holy Blood Angels and special squads, hidden on the edge of the battlefield, also sprang into action.
They launched a surprise attack from the flank of the battlefield, heading straight for the Soul of Vengeance.

The shields of the Vengeance Soul were extremely sturdy, easily deflecting every shell, torpedo, and light spear fired by the Imperial warships.

Even though all the Imperial fleet's warships had been upgraded and had increased firepower, they still couldn't break through the Vengeance's shields.

It is literally invulnerable to swords and spears.
This is because Abaddon prepared a secret meeting of Chaos Wizards proficient in divination spells for the Soul of Vengeance.

They continuously make prophecies, allocating energy to areas that will be attacked.
Meanwhile, the Red Pirate Fleet also served as the protector of the Vengeful Spirit, withstanding most of the Imperial fleet's firepower.

But a clown theater troupe provided assistance, allowing Imperial forces to successfully pry open the turtle shell of the Vengeance Soul.

Immediately following was a large-scale boarding operation.

Hundreds of squads, aboard assault boats, bypassed the outer defenses of the Vengeful Spirit and stormed inside.

Some player teams also used teleportation to force their way into the Vengeful Spirit.

Fierce battles erupted in every corner of the Vengeance Soul.

However, they were all just a cover.
The real main force is the special operations team led by the boss of Erlonghu.
They wanted to retrieve the lost soul of Saint Gilles.

The action team was taken to the boarding deck closest to the bridge.

As the preceding squads launched their assault, the forces of the Vengeance Soul were drawn to its side.
The special team was not attacked immediately upon landing.

"This place is perfect for filming horror movies." The leader of Erlonghu looked around.
The scene inside the Soul of Vengeance can absolutely be described as hell.

The interior of the warship had been completely corrupted by chaos, and flesh and blood were growing everywhere in the corridors.
Transparent blood vessels converged into a winding river of blood, and the road beneath our feet was covered in a sticky substance, like a tongue.

"The Soul of Vengeance was once the domain of the gods. If it's not terrifying, then there's something wrong with it."

If you don't want to be a dog, you declare war. Look around warily, afraid that a human head might suddenly pop out from the wall.

The same applies to other players.
The contamination of the subspace is far more terrifying than any horror movie.

It wouldn't be surprising if human heads grew out of the walls, or even if a few vengeful ghosts crawled out.

The vengeful spirits are simply outmatched in combat; they'd be utterly defeated by the Astartes. "Advance," Mephisto, who was accompanying them, ordered. "Search for the archangel's soul."

The group jogged over the writhing flesh and blood, making their way to their destination.

Along the way, they saw many deep pits that resembled throats.

The sound of a heartbeat could be heard coming from the depths of some dark corridors.
Sometimes, you can even see remnants of the past.

Mutants and warp demons hide in the walls or around the corners of corridors.

When the squad gets close, they will crawl out of the wall or suddenly jump out, howling as they attack.

The players fought bravely, using various methods to slay the monsters and risking their lives to clear a path for the team.

Morpheus and other blood angels assisted from the sidelines.

With each step forward, players continued to fall and die.

"Depend on!!"

A player screamed as a giant, fleshy hand from the ceiling grabbed him.
Several mouths with sharp teeth were tearing at his body.

The others looked up, raised their guns, and fired, killing the attacking monster.
But the player who died tragically had already been reduced to fragments.

"Luckily, I brought the Chosen One."

Mephiston couldn't imagine how many of them would have had to die to reach the bridge of the Vengeance Soul without the Chosen Ones.

"That was a rather gruesome death."

"He was bitten to pieces. Take pictures, congratulations on unlocking a new way to die."

The other players were all smiles, showing no sadness at the loss of their teammate.

The team advanced deeper and eventually entered the bridge of the USS Vengeance.

This place is even more terrifying, with the corpses of loyalists hanging everywhere, and mutants corrupted by chaos maintaining the operation of the Soul of Vengeance.

There are also some Chaos Warriors patrolling back and forth here.

The team engaged in battle with these enemies.

A few minutes later, all enemies were cleared out.

After the last mutant was killed, the players and the Blood Angels began searching for the soul of Sanguis.

However, after searching for a while, they still found nothing.

The bridge contained nothing but writhing flesh, gruesome corpses, and machines fused with demons.

"I think there's something wrong with this sculpture."

The leader of Erlonghu stood in front of a grotesque sculpture decorated with blood and flesh.

It was a terrifying angel with mutilated limbs, resembling a rotting corpse. It held a long spear, and its wings drooped behind it, revealing stark white bones, making it look rather horrifying.

“There are indeed some problems.” Morpheus examined the sculpture for a moment, then walked up to it and reached out to sense what was inside.

Boundless resentment and despair filled the sculpture, nearly shattering Mephisto's soul.

If he hadn't accepted the power of the Black Angel, he probably would have died on the spot.

After Mephisto experienced the first wave of dark power, he felt a divine power surging within him, a power that felt like a blood connection.

“Father!” Morpheus exclaimed.
He realized that the sculpture contained the soul of an archangel.

"Saint-Gilles??"

The players also came over to examine the sculpture together.

Should we move him out?

"Move away, what else can we do?"

"It's quite big; it will take a long time to move."

"........."

The players were buzzing with discussion about how to take Saint Gilles' soul away.

Mephisto removed his hand armor, pulled out a dagger, and then slashed his palm.

Crimson blood gushed out.

However, the original Space Marine's powerful physique allowed his wounds to heal quickly.
Before the wound had healed, Mephisto smeared the blood onto the sculpture.

"With the blood of the son, we call forth the soul of the father."

"Awaken, archangel, you have slept long enough."

"........."

As Mephisto whispered, cracks appeared in the sculpture, from which brilliant light shot out.

Flesh and blood turned to ashes within the light, vanishing without a trace.

The twisted and terrifying outer shell of the sculpture shattered, revealing a holy, golden soul before the crowd.

The soul is like a sun, radiating bright light.
The shadow that lurked on the Vengeful Spirit groaned in agony as it fled to a place where the golden light could not reach.

"Saint-Gilles??"

"Archangel??"

"If even a fraction of a soul has such power, how powerful would it be if all the souls were collected?"

"As expected of a man who can fight against the Four Gods, he already has three-tenths of my style."

"........."

The players stared wide-eyed at the soul of Saint Gilles, and began to discuss it amongst themselves.

The souls aboard the Vengeful Spirit are more complete than the remnant souls they encountered before, and therefore their power is far more exaggerated.

At that moment, a group of Chaos Warriors poured into the bridge, trying to stop the special team from taking away Sanguis' soul.

“Let’s go, Father, let’s go home.” Mephisto stepped forward and reached out his hand to the golden soul.
