Chapter 403 Chaotic Arena
Chapter 403 Chaotic Arena
"Yes."
Kro's time rift began to fluctuate actively:
"The warm-up competition is about to begin, and this is the best opportunity to test the waters."
Nari has always operated as an individual soldier and has never trained a complete legion.
In battles fought by her subordinate legions, this disadvantage would be laid bare.
"Then, our goal is clear."
Camps concluded that his body parts began to move in sync, demonstrating a unified will:
"Use the warm-up match as an opportunity to thoroughly test Nari's true strength."
If she is truly only outwardly strong but inwardly weak, having only gained superficial power, then we should seize the opportunity to severely damage her influence and re-establish the power order.
"If she has indeed gained some new power..."
Crowe picked up the conversation, and the cracks in time around him expanded wildly:
"Then we must find out the source of this power and find a way to use it for our own benefit."
"There is another issue that needs to be considered."
Dreyer's voice became cautious:
"The attitude of the Supreme Apostles towards this matter. If Nari really gained some kind of special power, those old guys couldn't possibly have been unaware of it."
"This is indeed a risk."
Kemps's spatial perception began to probe deeper into the abyss:
"But from what I've observed, the Supreme Apostles have been busy with a large project lately."
The energy fluctuations in the Abyss of Souls were unusually intense, suggesting they were preparing for some unprecedented ritual.
"This might be our opportunity."
Crowe seemed thoughtful:
“If those old guys are too busy to deal with the tricks of the fifth floor for the time being, we will have enough time to deal with Nari’s problem.”
The wills of the three apostles began to converge, and the energy fluctuations in space became more coordinated.
They all understood that the best strategy when facing an uncertain variable was to unite.
"Then, let's start developing a concrete action plan."
Multiple voices from Campos sounded simultaneously:
"The warm-up competition will begin in two weeks, giving us ample time to refine our plans."
In the deep darkness, the low laughter of a few apostles could be heard intermittently.
………………
The sixth layer of the abyss, the core area of the labyrinth.
At the heart of this chaos stands a colossal, breathtaking structure—the Chaos Arena.
The arena itself is a work of art, formed from pure chaotic energy.
From the outside, it looks like a blooming steel flower.
But each "petal" is an independent spatial segment, carrying audience seats from different levels of the abyss.
These spatial segments rotate slowly and occasionally overlap, allowing audiences in different areas to "visit" and interact.
Ron observed all of this from the perspective of the stand-in puppet through a consciousness connection.
As one of the contestants, the puppet is currently standing in the preparation area at the edge of the arena, surrounded by a powerful and chilling aura.
"What an impressive building..."
He sighed inwardly, while simultaneously activating "Extraordinary Recognition" to analyze the surrounding energy structure.
The stability of the entire arena depends entirely on the spider-like figure suspended at the highest point—the clone of "Void Spider" Magus.
Countless almost transparent threads extended from his body, weaving into a giant spider web that covered the entire arena.
This network maintains the stability of the spatial structure and monitors the movements of every participant.
"A very special control method..."
Ron carefully analyzed the properties of the threads through the puppet's senses:
“Each thread is an independent information transmission channel, capable of providing real-time feedback on all changes within the field. Moreover…”
He noticed deeper details.
Those threads are not just monitoring tools, but also precise space anchors.
If a situation becomes uncontrollable, Magus can instantly sever the spatial connection of a certain area, isolating the danger within a minimal scope.
"This level of spatial manipulation..." he muttered to himself, "The power of the Supreme Apostle is indeed beyond imagination."
Just then, Magus's voice resounded throughout the arena via mental fluctuations:
"Welcome to the 127th Abyss Warm-up Tournament, rulers of the Abyss!"
The voice contained a strong sense of pressure, and even the ferocious mutants in the audience involuntarily tucked their tails between their legs.
"Today, eighteen legions will compete, and the winner will gain the right to attack first in the official ranking battle!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the entire arena erupted in a deafening roar.
Through the puppet's senses, Ron experiences this primal fervor originating from the depths of the abyss.
The audience seats were filled with all sorts of abyssal creatures:
There are dragon mutants whose entire bodies are covered with metallic scales; instead of flames, they spew corrosive acid.
A multi-headed monster with dozens of eyes, each head emitting a roar at a different frequency;
There are also some things that completely transcend biological understanding.
Their forms constantly change in the observer's view, as if reality cannot contain their true appearance.
"Let us welcome the first participating legion—the 'Doomsday Gospel Corps' of 'The Silent Saint' Draiel!"
As Magus introduced the situation, the space on one side of the arena began to distort.
A crack burning with black flames slowly tore open, and a terrifying procession emerged from it.
Leading them were six fallen archangels, but they had completely lost the holiness that angels should possess.
Once as white as snow, its wings have now rotted into bat-like membranous wings, covered with pustules and parasites.
Her once beautiful and holy face is now twisted like that of the most wicked demon, her eyes burning with hatred for holiness.
They wore tattered holy robes, and the holy emblem on their chests had long been turned upside down, becoming a symbol of blasphemy.
“Dreyer…”
Ron carefully observed the apostle's legion through the puppet's perspective, gaining a deeper understanding of the abyss's complexity:
"The mind control techniques that can corrupt angels to this extent..."
Following the fallen angel were the twisted souls of hundreds of once-devout religious people.
Priests, paladins, nuns, missionaries... they were servants of light in life, but now they have become a perfect irony of faith.
These souls burn with an inextinguishable fire of revenge, a fire of anger and betrayal against the god they once worshipped.
The abyssal creatures in the audience erupted in cheers of approval.
In the values of the abyss, this perfect subversion of light and holiness is the highest form of art.
"Dreyer's legions, always so...poetic."
A comment from a certain "poet" came from the audience.
It twirled the human head in its palm, its tone clearly appreciative:
"Look at the despair in the eyes of those angels, they are living works of art."
"Hiss... I prefer the expressions of those priests."
Another voice flicked its tongue and continued, "That complete denial of one's former beliefs is more cruel than any form of torture."
Magus's voice rang out again: "Next, let us welcome 'Dimensional Rift' from 'Ripple Demon' Krampus!" A second spatial rift opened, but this time the legion that emerged was even more unsettling.
These soldiers have extremely bizarre forms, with each individual existing simultaneously in multiple spatial dimensions.
They look like jigsaw puzzle pieces cut by invisible blades, with different parts of the body appearing and disappearing between different spatial levels.
Some soldiers have their heads in the main space, but their bodies are distributed in the other three dimensions;
Some soldiers' weapons exist in a future timeline and only become apparent during attacks;
Some soldiers are themselves a void in space, leaving behind illusory cracks in reality as they move.
"A bizarre segmentation method..."
Ron analyzes these strange entities through the puppets:
"Dispersing the soldiers' presence across multiple spatial levels not only improves their evasiveness but also makes their attacks unpredictable..."
The audience reacted even more enthusiastically.
The creatures of the abyss were clearly extremely excited about this legionary form that defied conventional understanding.
"Kamps' creativity always surprises us!" an audience member shouted.
"I want to know how these soldiers are trained."
Another voice, brimming with curiosity, asked: "Won't consciousness split when existing in multiple spaces simultaneously?"
Next up is the third legion – “Weathering Erosion” Kro’s “Time Erosion”.
What makes this legion so terrifying is its distorted use of time.
Some soldiers looked like they had been dead for centuries, only bones remained, yet they were still able to move.
Some soldiers are trapped in an endless cycle of death and rebirth, their bodies constantly decaying and being reborn;
Some soldiers experience a completely different flow of time than their surroundings.
Their every movement is as slow as slow motion, but their power is amplified many times over due to the compression of time.
"The flow of time can change..." Ron thought to himself, "If this ability is used properly..."
The next few legions to enter were equally impressive:
The "Corruption Forest" legion is commanded by Carola, the plant apostle from the seventh level, known as "Root Poison."
Hundreds of giant carnivorous plants and moving, decaying ancient trees make up this bizarre army of plants.
What makes these plants so terrifying is their infectiousness; any enemy killed by them will be reborn as a new plant warrior in a short period of time.
The "Flesh and Blood Fusion" Legion, led by Nicholas, the "Master of Patchwork" from the eighth floor.
Each soldier is a killing machine perfectly assembled from the organs of multiple different organisms.
Ron could see that it contained the heart of a dragon, the muscles of a demon, the bones of an angel, and even some organs of otherworldly creatures that he could not identify.
The "Void Devourer" Legion belongs to Cecilia, the "Hollow Heart" of the ninth level.
The most terrifying characteristic of these creatures is their ability to devour the surrounding reality, plunging their enemies into a state of utter terror.
Where they walk, even the air disappears, leaving behind absolute emptiness.
The final legion is the "Consciousness Labyrinth," comprised of Alpha, a local apostle from the sixth layer known as the "Mind Nematode."
Each unit is a living maze structure, capable of dragging the enemy's consciousness into an endless mental prison.
After most of the legions had completed their entrance ceremony, the entire arena fell into an eerie silence.
All the apostles’ attention was focused on the last portal.
We eagerly await what surprises the currently trending "Eye of the Abyss," Nari, will bring.
A chaotic rift slowly tore open in the center of the arena, with the purest chaotic aura surging from its edges.
Judging from the quality and concentration of that energy, it clearly surpassed the level of all previous legions.
The noise in the audience gradually subsided, and all living beings held their breath, waiting for the appearance of this naturally chaotic being.
However, when Nari's figure emerged from the crack, the entire arena erupted in unexpected laughter.
She only brought three "warriors":
An ordinary-looking puppet—a substitute puppet—floats quietly in the air, emanating no fearsome or threatening aura.
An upgraded version of Explorer I, a biomechanically modified golem.
Although its body surface shimmered with eerie blue energy patterns, it appeared insignificant compared to the size of other legions.
There is also a group of bioluminescent jellyfish that look completely harmless – the sonic jellyfish.
They swam slowly through the air, emitting pleasant but completely non-threatening sounds.
The audience erupted in deafening jeers:
"This is Nari's army? Two toys and a bunch of pets?"
"It seems that madman has really gone mad! Does he think this is a children's game?"
"I bet a thousand soul essences that she won't even last the first round!"
"Hahaha! Maybe she's trying to use music to hypnotize the enemy?"
The fallen clerics in the Draiel Legion let out a contemptuous sneer.
Camps, on the other hand, simultaneously offered a dismissive assessment from multiple spatial levels:
"A legion of this caliber can't even defeat a single soldier like me."
Crowe didn't even bother to hide his disappointment; its time-corrupting soldiers halted the complex time loop.
They clearly believed that there was no need to make any preparations for such a weak opponent.
The reactions of the other apostles were similar.
Carola's plant army made a mocking sound like leaves rustling in the wind;
Nicholas's patchwork soldiers began to relax their guard, some even sitting down;
Cecilia's Void Legion ceased its devouring of the surrounding reality;
The consciousness labyrinths of Alpha even began chatting among themselves, completely ignoring Nari's presence...
Only Magus, suspended at the highest point, gazed thoughtfully at the seemingly harmless puppet.
His spider-like intuition told him that things were definitely not as simple as they seemed.
“Although Nari did go mad because of Chaos in the past, her fighting instincts have never disappeared…”
Magus analyzed in his mind:
"Moreover, recent intelligence indicates that her sanity has significantly improved."
Given her personality, she wouldn't possibly lose face in such a situation... unless..."
His nine eyes were focused on the puppet at the same time, trying to analyze the essence of this existence through deeper perception.
To his surprise, the seemingly ordinary puppet completely blocked his detection.
It's not the kind of forceful, confrontational blocking, but a more subtle kind of "non-existence."
It's as if this puppet doesn't even exist on this level of reality.
“Interesting…” Magus’s mask tilted slightly, as if in thought:
"The ability to hide oneself from my perception, that skill..."
Meanwhile, Ron, who was sensing the reactions of the entire audience through a conscious connection, had a different feeling.
"Just to my liking..."
Surrounded by Nari's tentacles, he quietly analyzed the situation:
“All the opponents thought Nari was here to make a joke, and they were completely off guard. This psychological advantage is more valuable than any tactical arrangement.”
He could sense the terrifying power contained within the substitute puppet.
After Nari's careful training over this period, the puppet has made a qualitative leap in strength, and more importantly, it is now under Nari's complete control.
"and……"
A slight smile appeared on Ron's lips:
"I have some trump cards that they can't even imagine."
