Chapter 264 Skip the Plot
Chapter 264 Skip the Plot (2)
“Young Master…” In the Batcave base beneath Gotham City, filled with all sorts of high-tech equipment.
Batman, or rather, Bruce Wayne's butler Alfred Pennyworth, is looking at a multitude of surveillance images on the screen, some clear and some blurry.
He paused for a moment, then reminded them, "The ambulance is on its way."
"However, this child... probably won't need a funeral."
"What?" Batman frowned.
"What are you doing?" the boy's voice came from behind. Batman froze and immediately turned around.
The boy was seen retracting his fist, then shaking his body like a cat shaking off water, shaking off the grayish-white brain matter and blood that had stained his head, and the high-strength fibers that had been binding him also fell off.
He then pulled out a hot towel from somewhere and wiped his face with a look of disgust.
not dead?
Is this child a superpowered individual?
Or is it related to magical power?
Batman cautiously took a few steps back, reached down and swiped his bat belt at his waist, and two special bat darts appeared in his palm.
One was engraved with runes, the other shimmered with a soft, glowing light.
It was made of two special metals, making it a very rare and precious item even for someone with such a strong squirrel obsession as him.
When dealing with magical enemies, the batarang, engraved with special runes and made of special metal, can achieve a certain degree of magic-breaking attack; the other can interfere with the operation of superpowers.
While absolute control is impossible, most magic and superpowers can be affected by these two specially made darts.
Even Superman, Diana, Shazam, and the Flash would need to exert all their strength to break free if they were hit head-on by these special darts.
"Ugh! That's disgusting." Fang Zheng muttered, looking at the bloodstains on his retracted fist that were quickly fading away. "You guys are really something else. Since you can't change my story, you just skip the plot around me, huh?"
"In the skipped scenes, it's one thing to be shot right in the head, but since you can't change the plot and can't hit my head, you just smear brain matter and blood on my head as special effects. Where did you come from, a third-rate production crew?"
"Hey? You're the guy posing upstairs just now. In the scene we skipped, you beat up this lunatic to save me, right?"
"Come shake hands," Fang Zheng said with a smile, extending his hand. Batman hesitated for a moment, then looked at the bright smile and extended his hand as well.
"So, what do you plan to do with him?" After shaking hands, Fang Zheng squatted down, a wooden stick appearing in his hand, and poked the clown in his miserable state. "Should I send him to the police or just beat him to death?"
"Hmm?" Batman became increasingly wary. Looking at that harmless face through his night-vision goggles, his degree in facial expression analysis failed to detect any surprise or fear on that face, and his words revealed not a trace of dread.
This means that in the child's eyes, being beaten so badly, or even a corpse, is probably just an ordinary thing.
Such behavior from a superhuman or magician implies a potential for danger.
Also, alteration? Skipping the plot? What exactly did that child mean by what he was muttering just now? Was it related to his superpowers or magical abilities?
In a brief moment, Batman's mind raced with thoughts as he replied in a deep voice, "He will be sent to Arkham Asylum for treatment and confinement."
Batman continued, "Kid, you must be a superhuman. Since you're alright, you should leave here and go home as soon as possible. In Gotham City at night, even a superhuman isn't safe."
"Wait, you're sending him to a mental hospital?" Fang Zheng frowned in confusion, pointing to his face. "Um, I do look like a minor, don't I?"
"This perverted clown kidnapped and abducted children with a knife and a gun late at night, and even fired a shot. Although it was useless against me, you should send this kind of guy to a mental hospital instead of the police station?"
"Are you awake?"
Batman shook his head. “Killing a madman is too easy… the hard part is ensuring that no new madmen are born. I’ve seen how madness devours a person, from the alleyways of Gotham to the high walls of Arkham. Killing is never the answer, but the source of the plague.”
"I don't care about your opinions. Since you're sending him to a mental hospital, then I'll send him to his death." Fang Zheng shook his head and stomped on him. With a "splat," the clown, whose body was still convulsing from the pain, had his head explode, and he was instantly dead.
"What are you doing!" Batman demanded, his voice laced with suppressed rage, as he threw the dart he had prepared beforehand.
Two darts connected by special energy were pressed tightly against Fang Zheng's body, stimulating the energy contained within them to form a glowing rope that firmly bound Fang Zheng.
With suppressed rage, Batman took a deep breath and said, "Kid, now that you've killed someone and possess dangerous superpowers, I can't let this go unpunished. I'll be keeping you under surveillance until I find your family, so you can truly understand your mistakes!"
"What?" Fang Zheng asked in surprise, "Didn't this guy just try to kill me? He can shoot me, but I can't kill him? Don't you have any laws protecting minors here? Even according to the law, it would be normal for me to kill this guy, right?"
"..." Batman's lips twitched, and he crouched down to align his line of sight with Fang Zheng's.
Looking at this child who seemed completely unconcerned about killing and didn't take it seriously at all, he tried his best to save him.
Batman said seriously, "Kid, you have powers that ordinary people don't have, but today those powers crossed a line... a line that can never be reversed."
"You have a bright future ahead of you, and you can still choose your own life. The Joker's madness shouldn't be ended by you. Once you end a life in your hands and feel no remorse for it, you can never go back to the past."
“Anger after being attacked? Fear? I know these better than you do, but if you start believing today that ‘killing can solve problems,’ one day you will become another person that I need to stop.”
"Gotham City won't become better because one less madman, nor will it become worse because one more child picks up a knife... but you will change!"
"How super weird... Killing a bad guy makes it seem like I killed a good person." Fang Zheng shook his head, casually tore off the energy chains enveloping him, and walked away. "You seem like a good person, so I won't bother arguing with you. Bye-bye..."
Watching the boy's departing figure, Batman frowned deeply. After hesitating for a moment, he decided to postpone his pursuit.
He murmured to himself, "Using Diana's Chains of Truth as a template, even Superman would need considerable strength to break free, yet this child completely ignored it? We must be prepared for this terrifying power..."
With a wave of his hand, the Batmobile in the corner rushed over.
Sitting in his car patrolling Gotham City at night, he said into his earpiece, "Alfred, have you found anything?"
“Young Master,” Alfred said hesitantly, “according to the surveillance footage, this boy may come from a parallel world.”
"Visitors from a parallel universe, is it?" Batman frowned deeply and said in a low voice, "Begin creating the relevant files..."
boom!
Suddenly, a sharp explosion caught Batman's attention. "Is that Lauren's territory?"
Gotham City is teeming with numerous gangs, large and small, that are impossible for outsiders to count. Almost every moment, different gangs are fighting each other for territory, and the power dynamics shift extremely frequently.
Even Batman, the king of the night, must constantly update his intelligence network to determine which area is controlled by which gang.
The speeding Batmobile quickly arrived at the scene. There, the boy, who had only been separated from the other boy for a few minutes, stood amidst a pile of mangled flesh, his hand gripping the neck of a fat man. In the man's desperate struggle, the boy had snapped his neck.
Behind the boy, in a house with one wall smashed, human skin and bones were scattered all over the ground, and human flesh hung like in a slaughterhouse, lying in the rain.
Batman stared silently at the objects, the parts removed from human bodies, his teeth grinding together.
"Hey, we meet again." Standing amidst the bits of meat scattered on the ground, Fang Zheng greeted them with a smile.
"You...how many people did you just kill..." Batman asked in a low voice.
Fang Zheng tilted his head and said, "Oh, not many, maybe a few hundred. There were so many, like cockroaches. They were quite troublesome to kill."
"I originally wanted to kill tens of millions in one go, but the causal connections were too scattered. They were all black boxes of information, and I couldn't find them all at once."
